Zaterdag 5 en zondag 6 oktoberWeekend van de Wetenschap in Space Expo

In en rond Space Expo is dit weekend van alles te zien en te beleven. Bezoekers van Space Expo kunnen op zaterdag 5 oktober een (gratis) wetenschappelijke lezing bijwonen. Op zaterdag 5 oktober is pop-up wetenschapper Marc van der Sluis bij Space Expo. Op zaterdag 5 en zondag 6 oktober krijgen bezoekers 50% korting op de entreeprijs.

Zondag 6 oktoberOpen dag ESA ESTEC - Thema: ESA to the Moon

Wie altijd al eens een kijkje in de keuken van de Europese ruimtevaart heeft willen nemen, komt naar ESTEC. Het testcentrum van ESA opent één dag in het jaar zijn deuren voor het grote publiek. Tijdens de open dag bij ESTEC ontmoet je astronauten en missie-experts, ontdek je hoe ESA de ruimte op aarde nabootst voor experimenten en tests en leer je over technologie die vanuit de ruimtevaart een toepassing op aarde heeft gekregen. De open dag is te bezoeken van 10:00 uur tot 17:00 uur, locatie ESA ESTEC, Keplerlaan 1, 2201 AZ Noordwijk. Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 OctoberWeekend of Science in the Netherlands Space Expo

In and around Space Expo there will be a lot to see and do this weekend. Visitors to Space Expo can attend a (free) scientific lecture on Saturday 5 October. On Saturday 5 October, pop-up scientist Marc van der Sluis will be present at Space Expo. On Saturday 5 and Sunday 6 October, visitors will receive a 50% discount on the entrance fee.

Sunday 6 OctoberOpen day at ESA ESTEC theme: ESA to the Moon

Anyone who has always wanted to take a look behind the scenes of European space travel should visit ESTEC. The ESA test centre opens its doors to the general public one day a year. During the open day at ESTEC, you will meet astronauts and mission experts, discover how ESA mimics space on earth for experiments and tests, and learn about technology originating from space travel which has been put to use on Earth. The open day can be visited from 10 AM to 5 PM, at ESA ESTEC. Keplertaan 1,2201 AZ Noordwijk.

Onthulling tegels en informatiebord op de ‘Walk of Space’

Aan de mooie rij tegels met voet- en handafdrukken van astronauten op de ‘Walk of Space’ worden twee tegels met de handafdrukken van de astronauten Walter Cunningham (Apollo 7) en Russell Schweickart (Apollo 9) toegevoegd.Op de Walk of Space in Noordwijk liggen al prachtige tegels van de astronauten: Wubbo Ockels, André Kuipers, Lodewijk van den Berg, Ed Mitchell, Frank de Winne, Paolo Nespoli, Alexander Gerst, Claudie Haigneré, Dirk Frimout, Oleg Kononenko en Samantha Cristoferetti. Met deze twee nieuwe tegels liggen er op 5 oktober dertien op de Walk of Space.

De ‘Walk of Space’ is een samenwerking tussen de gemeente Noordwijk, Space Expo en ESA ESTEC.

Programma 12:00 uur Onthulling van twee astronautentegels en informatiebord op de ‘Walk of Space’ 13:00 uur Einde programma.

Zaterdagavond 5 oktober

Apollo - Inspiring the futureEen unieke inspirerende avond in theater de Muze Noordwijk. Tijdens deze bij-zondere avond zal André Kuipers aanwezig zijn en zullen de astronauten Walter Cunningham (Apollo 7, 1968. Een bemande testmissie ter voorbereiding op de maanlanding) en Russell Schweickart (Apollo 9, 1969. Het was een testmissie voor een maanlanding, waarbij de maanlander en de commandomodule in de ruimte getest werden) een presentatie geven.

Ook aanwezig is Scott Millican, hij ontwikkelde in 1969 de Lunar Surface Checklist en trainde de astronauten voor de procedures die zij moesten volgen om de Apol-lo-missies van 11 tot 17 naar de maan en veilig terug naar de aarde te brengen.

Er is parkeergelegenheid op het Wantveld tegen betaling en de avond zal geheel in het Engels worden gepresenteerd. Dankzij samenwerking tussen de gemeente Noordwijk met partners HE Space en ESA ESTEC kan dit evenement plaatsvinden.

Unveiling of tiles and information sign on the ‘Walk of Space’

Two tiles with the handprints of the astronauts Walter Cunningham (Apollo 7) and Russell Schweickart (Apollo 9) are being added to the beautiful row of tiles with footprints and handprints of astronauts on the ‘Walk of Space’. The Walk of Space in Noordwijk already has beautiful tiles from the following astronauts:Wubbo Ockels, André Kuipers, Lodewijk van den Berg, Ed Mitchell, Frank de Winne, Paolo Nespoli, Alexander Gerst, Claudie Haigneré, Dirk Frimout, Oleg Kononenko and Samantha Cristoferetti.On 5 October, these two new tiles will bring the total on the Walk of Space to thirteen.

The ‘Walk of Space’ is a collaboration between the municipality of Noordwijk, Space Expo and ESA ESTEC.

Saturday evening 5 October

Apollo - Inspiring the futureAn unique inspiring evening in De Muze theatre, Noordwijk. André Kuipers will be present at this special evening, and the astronauts Walter Cunningham (Apollo 7, 1968. One manned test mission to prepare for the moon landing) and Russell Schweickart (Apollo 9, 1969. This was a test mission for a moon landing, during which the lunar lander and the command mo-dule were tested in space) will give a presentation.

Also present will be Scott Millican, who developed the Lunar Surface Checklist in 1969 and trained the astronauts for the procedures they had to follow to bring Apollo missions 11 to 17 to the moon and back to Earth safely.

Program from 7.30 - 10 PM, doors open at 7 PM.
