Reason and Prerequisites

General remarks:

o For new installations of ITS 6.20 SAP highly recommends to use the64-bit version of ITS 6.20.

o SAP ITS 6.20 is compatible with SAP Systems based on SAP WebApplication Server 6.40 and lower. If you are using an SAP Systembased on SAP Web Application Server 7.00 or higher you have to usethe SAP integrated ITS (see note 709038 for more information on theSAP integrated ITS).

o Refer to the current SAP@Web Installation Guide for information onthe minimum hardware requirements for SAP ITS.

o More details on platforms supported by SAP ITS are available inplatform availability matrix on the SAP Service Marketplace(http://service.sap.com/pam -> SAP ITS 6.20).

o The supported platforms and Web Browsers for the SAP Integrated ITS6.40 and higher are the same platforms supported by the SAP WebApplication Server. Have a look at http://service.sap.com/pam formore information.

Restricted Support:

o Restricted support for SAP ITS 6.20 on Windows 32 bitAs of 1st of July 2006 the support for SAP ITS 6.20 on Windows 32bit operating systems is in restricted mode. The reason for thisrestriction is documented in SAP note 959781. Even though it isunlikely that an incident as described in this note occurs there isstill a small chance that this happens. If you do not want to takethis risk please install SAP ITS 6.20 on Linux or use Windows 64bit operating systems.

o Extended Support for Windows 2000 Professional and Windows 2000Server by Microsoft ended on July 13th 2010:

o Due to support restrictions by Microsoft (seehttp://support.microsoft.com/gp/lifeselect), SAP has to restrictsupport for SAP Frontend software on Windows XP as of April 14th2009. Please check SAP note 147519 for details.

o Like the other SAP server components SAP ITS is only supported onthe "English international" version of Windows Server versions. Seenote 362379 for more information.

o Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3 has reached the "End of Production 3 Endof Regular Life Cycle" (seehttps://access.redhat.com/support/policy/updates/errata/ for moreinformation). While SAP will continue to support SAP ITS 6.20 onRHEL3 until "End of Extended Life Cycle" in 2013, we neverthelessstrongly suggest to upgrade to a more recent version of RHEL.

Virtualization and HypervisorsAs of patch 32, SAP supports the productive use of SAP ITS 6.20 on virtualmachines running on VMware ESX Server 3.x.As of patch 39, SAP supports the productive use of SAP ITS 6.20 on virtualmachines running on VMware ESX Server 4.x.Support for VMware vSphere 5 is under evaluation and planned for patch 43.

64 bit platformsSupport for selected combinations of 64-bit platforms and 64-bit operatingsystems starts as of patchlevel 22 of SAP ITS 6.20 (see below forinformation on which combinations are supported).There are currently no plans to support the Itanium (IA64) environment.Also note that the 32 bit versions of SAP ITS 6.20 are not supported on 64bit operating systems. If you are using 64 bit operating system you have toinstall a 64 bit build of SAP ITS (supplied as a separate archive as ofpatchlevel 22).Please also note that ITS Watchdog (see ITS Administration Guide) is onlysupported on Windows 32bit.

Using 32-bit WGate with 64-bit AGate and vice versa is supported.

o Windows XP Professional

End of maintenance for SAP@Web StudioAs of 1st of January 2007 SAP@Web Studio is no longer supported. At thispoint of time the extended maintenance for all SAP releases older than SAPR/3 4.6C ended. Therefore SAP@Web Studio is no longer required since as ofSAP R/3 4.6C Web Application Builder (SE80) can be used for all ITS relateddevelopment activities.

Please also note that SAP@WebStudio as a legacy software product is notsupported in Terminal Server environments.

SAP System version required for SAP@WebStudio

o 3.1I up to and including 4.6B. For SAP release 46C and higher theWeb Application Builder of ABAP Workbench SE80 have to be used todevelop and maintain IAC services.

o SAP@WebStudio is not supported for SAP Systems based on SAP WebApplication Server 6.40 or higher (see note 829310).
