A (very) Brief History

• 1998, 1999 ITnet network established (2Mb/s)– Replaced “RTCnet”

• Until recently: access connectivity provided by Eircom – ATM infrastructure (45Mb/s per IoT)

• IP addressing & IP Transit provided via HEAnet
