19th NOV: HABARANA / SIGIRIYA / HABARANA

After an early breakfast depart from hotel to visit the Sigiriya Rock fortress, (Travel time approx. 45 mins  – 1 hour) 

Sigiriya Rock Fortress  which is known as the 8th  wonder of the world. This rock

fortress was built by King Kasyapa in the 5th century A.D. and was a royal citadel for

more than 18 years. In a sheltered a pocket, approached by a spiral stairway, are thefamous frescoes. The summit of the rock, with an area of nearly one hectare was the

site of the palace and the outer wall was built on the very brink of the precipice. The

UNESCO sponsored Central Cultural Fund has restored Sigiriya 5 th  century wate

gardens to their former glory.

Thereafter proceed to Hiriwadunna for an experience of a Sri Lankan Village

life (Travel time approx. 30 mins  – 40 mins)

Hiriwadunna , A 15 minute elephant ride will bring you the location where you

will then dismount and ride on a bullock cart to the river. Take an oruwa

across the river to visit chena cultivation and thereafter have a local village

lunch. Before you eat, you will learn something about Sri Lankan cooking and

make a dish to eat with your meal.

On completion return to hotel and enjoy the facilities at the hotel. (Travel time approx.. 45 mins – 1 hour)

20th NOV: HABARANA / POLONNARUWA / MINNERIYA / HABARANA

After breakfast proceed to the ancient city of Polonnaruwa - Explore Polonnaruwa (Travel time approx. 1 - 1 ½ -hours)

Polonnaruwa the architect of this lovely city is known to be King ParakramaBahu

- The Great. The remains of the Royal Citadel council chamber, prince’s bathing

pool and the Gal Vihare, a stone temple with its colossal sculptures of theBuddha in a quiet grove of trees as well as the still functioning

ParakramaSamudra, a man made reservoir, larger than our Colombo harbor, are

on easy distance from each other. The new museum has an excellent scale

model of the ancient city as it was.

If you want this to enjoy this excursion on bicycle ride like the locals do, then do consider it!

On completion return to hotel

Proceed for a safari tour in the Minneriya National Park in the afternoon (Travel time approx. 1  – 1 ½ hours)

Minneriya National Park located between Habarana and Polonnaruwaisthe

8890 hectares of Minneriya National Park which is an ideal eco-tourism

location in Sri Lanka. The park consists of mixed evergreen forest and scrub

areas and is home to Sri Lanka's favorites such as sambar deer, leopards and

elephants. However the central feature of the park is the ancient Minneriya

Tank (built in 3rd century AD by King Mahasena). This tank is generally known

as a place to observe the elephants that come to bathe and graze on the

grasses as well asthe huge flocks of birds (cormorants and painted storks to

name but a few) that come to fish in the shallow waters.

21st  NOV:  HABARANA / MATALE / KANDY

After breakfast at the hotel proceed to the Dambulla cave temple

Dambulla cave temple  also known as the Golden Temple of Dambulla is a World

Heritage Site (1991) in Sri Lanka, situated in the central part of the country. This site is

situated 148 km east of Colombo and 72 km north of Kandy. It is the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka. The rock towers 160 m over the

surrounding plains. There are more than 80 documented caves in the surrounding

area. Major attractions are spread over 5 caves, which contain statues and paintings

These paintings and statues are related to Lord Buddha and his life. There total of 153

Buddha statues, 3 statues of Sri Lankan kings and 4 statues of gods and goddesses

On completion proceed to Kandy via visiting the Spice garden in Matale. (Travel time approx. 1 ½ - 2 hours)

Matale  is famous for its batik production and spice gardens. Batik has been an

ancient art of painting cloth and today Sri Lanka is among the world leaders in the

design of batik. Batik galleries and factories offer batik from simple single-colored

designs to intricate multi-colored masterpieces. Visit a Batik Factory and see the

various phases of batik production.

You would also visit a Spice Garden in Matale. For centuries, spices have been one of

Sri Lanka's celebrated exports. Spices are mostly grown in home gardens (as a home

industry) and used not only to flavor food but also for medicine and cosmetics

Enjoy a head massage at Spice Garden.

On completion continue to Kandy (Travel time approx. 1 ½ - 2 hours) 

Once in Kandy check in to the hotel and unwind,

In the late afternoon visit The Temple of the Tooth and after that proceed to see the cultural show.

Temple of the Tooth Relic  is located in the royal palace complex which houses the

Relic of the tooth of Buddha. Since ancient times, the relic has played an important

role in local politics because it is believed that whoever holds the relic holds the

governance of the country.

Kandy was the last capital of the Sinhalese kings and is a UNESCO world heritage

site partly due to the temple.

Cultural Dance, these classical dance forms are associated with the performance of various rituals and ceremonies

which are centuries old and are based on the folk religion and folk beliefs going back to times before the advent and

acceptance of Buddhism by the Sinhalese people in the third century B.C. These rituals and ceremonies reflect the

values, beliefs and customs of an agricultural civilization of Sri Lanka.

22nd NOV: KANDY / PERADENIYA / KANDY

After a leisurely breakfast proceed to Peradeniya and visit the Royal Botanical

Gardens (Travel time approx. 40-50 mins)

Peradeniya Royal Botanical Gardens at ‘Peradeniya’  is where you could treat your

eyes to an amazing, wide and rare collection of tropical and temperate, exotic and

indigenous flora, and an orchid house with the largest collection in Asia.

On completion return to hotel and proceed on a city tour of Kandy

Kandy is the English name for the city of Maha Nuvara (Senkadagalapura) in the centre of Sri Lanka. It was the last

capital of the ancient kings' era of Sri Lanka. The city lies in the midst of hills in the Kandy plateau

You can to do some shopping in Kandy, where you could fetch souvenirs in wood, copper, silver, brass, ebony, bronze,

ceramics, lacquer work, handlooms, batiks, jewelry and reed-ware at bargain prices!!

23rd NOV: KANDY / NUWARA ELIYA

After breakfast proceed to Nuwara Eliya via tea plantation (Travel time approx.2 – 2 ½ hours)

Nuwara Eliya is set in the heart of tea-country is a beautiful town where the British

succeeded in creating a replica of the English countryside, with homes in styles from

Georgian to Queen Anne. Well-kept lawns with hedges, an Anglican church, afamous golf course and beautiful parks give the place an air of nostalgia. Situated

6,200 feet above sea level, the air is cool and fresh  –  a serene retreat from the

hustle and bustle of the city life. Pony and Horse riding is available at the turf club

of NuwaraEliya to facilitate you with some sports and adventure. Visit a tea

plantation situated in the misty mountains of the Sri Lankan Hills, to experience the

ultimate feel of a tea plantation and its process.

Afternoon proceed to do a sightseeing tour of the beautiful town of Nuwara Eliya

Spectacular sceneries and places of interest are endless around Nuwara Eliya. Seeing the famous Anglican Church,

strolling in the Victoria Park, boating at Gregory Lake, pony and horse riding at the Turf Club are a few things available

for your enthusiasm inside the town. For those who want more excitement, there are other activities available like visits

to tea plantations, golfing and hiking. The hikes would take you around the beautiful landscape which is full of waterfalls

and plateaus jeweled with a variety of flowers and plants.

24th NOV: NUWARA ELIYA / HORTON PLAINS / NUWARA ELIYA

Horton Plains , 6500ft above sea level lies Sri Lanka’s highest and most isolated

plateau. Nature lovers will revel in this wide, patna-grass covered plain, the haunt of

many wild, yet harmless, animals and the home of many species of birds. Bridle paths

will take you to the precipice known as World’s End – a sheer drop of 1,050 meters.

Waterfalls are seen and heard everywhere in this hill country.

25th NOV: NUWARA ELIYA / MIRISSA

After breakfast at the hotel proceed on a long journey to Mirissa. You will feel it is worth the long journey to reach

this wonderful place near the sea. (Travel time approx. 4  –5 hours)

Located close to the Southern tip of the Island of Sri Lanka and only about 200 km

from the Equator, this secluded crescent shaped beach is the perfect place to sit back,relax and forget about all the hussle and bussle of your other life that’s a million miles

away.

With research findings confirmed by many experts in the field that the deep southern

waters off Sri Lanka [off Dondra point] is the best in the world for seeing blue and

sperm whales, you are assured that your bet placed on the blue ocean in Sri Lanka has the highest probability of

winning. The best of the best months are December - January and April whilst February and March are also too good to

miss. Need to avoid choppy / rough days. Morning hours are the best !
