Course Description

• This course provides students with a broad survey of the individual, organizational, and cultural impact of current and emerging technologies.

• The course focuses on understanding relevant managerial issues related to managing information technologies development and implementation

Examination of the dual challenges of effectively controlling the use of well-established information technologies while experimenting with emerging technologies to enable new business models.

Learning Outcome (01)

• Analyze and report on the current and emerging technologies within an organizational strategy framework

• Identify roles and values of various emerging technologies in area such as emerging computer platforms, telecommunications, networking, data management, internet and telecommunication to improve an organization's efficiency.

• Demonstrate significant expertise in an emerging technology of students own choice by conducting a guided research study and submitting a research report.

• Explain managerial issues related to processes and methods of developing, acquiring, implementing and securing an organizational and inter-organizational information system

Emerging Technology Presentation 20% Week

This is a group presentation assessment where students are divided into groups and given an emerging technology topic by the course teacher. Each group will prepare a presentation about the given technology and its alignment with a business strategy. This test covers Learning Outcomes LO 01 & LO 02

Written Research Report

15% Week 11

This is an individual assessment. You need to research an emerging technology of your own choice and provide a research-based report in addition to a presentation of your findings to the course teacher and your colleagues. Covers LOs 01, 02, and 03

This is a case study of an actual implementation of an emerging IT technology in a real existing organization. The students will choose an existing local or global organization and study its strategy as well as its implementation of an emerging technology and its impact on the organization from various perspectives. This assessment covers LOs 01, 02, and 03

Final Exam 30% Week17

The final exam evaluates what you learned in up to week 16 and covers LO 01, 02, and 03.

Participation 10% On going

Each student is expected to actively participate in the class discussions, class exercises, and the flipped classroom activities. This assessment is on-going throughout the semester and covers LOs 01, 02, and 03..
