W What is the meaning of hat is the meaning of baptism? baptism? Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection. “Christ died for our sins, he was buried, and he rose again.” (1 Corinthians 15:3-4). “For when you were baptized, you were buried with Christ, and in baptism you were also raised with Christ.” (Colossians 2:12). Baptism is a symbol of your new life as a Christian. “When someone becomes a Christian he becomes a brand new person inside. The old life has passed away and a new life has begun!” (2 Corinthians 5:17). “By our baptism then we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead also we might live a new life?” (Romans 6:4). Baptism does not make you a believer. It shows that you already are one! Baptism does not “save” you. Only your faith in Christ does that. Baptism is like a wedding ring – it’s the outward symbol of the commitment you made in your heart. “For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, it is the gift of God – not by works, so that no one can boast.” (Ephesians 2:8-9). W Who should be baptized? ho should be baptized? Every person who has made the decision to believe in Christ should be baptized. “Those who believed and accepted His message were baptized.” (Acts 2:41). “But when they believed Philip as he preached the Good News, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.” (Acts 8:12). “Simon himself believed and was baptized.” (Acts 8:13). W When should we be baptized? hen should we be baptized? We should be baptized after we have made a decision to follow Christ. Philip said to a new believer that he could be baptized only if he believed with all his heart in the Lord Jesus. (Acts 8:36, 37). We offer Baptism services several times throughout the year. Please make your participation interest known by contacting the church office at 763-300-3748. The Baptism Class is a prerequisite to Believer’s Baptism. Our next baptism class will be June 26 from 11:45-12:30 following current service.

WWhat is the meaning of hat is the meaning of baptism?baptism?Baptism is a symbol of Christ’s burial and resurrection.

“By our baptism then we were buried with Him and shared His death, in order that just as Christ was raised from the dead also we

(Romans 6:4).

WWhy should we be hy should we be baptized?baptized? In obedience to Christ’s command. We have His command by example (Matthew 3:15-16). And His command by word. Jesus said, “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:19-20). Peter also states that we are to “Repent, and be baptized.” (Acts 2:38). Truly, there can be no doubt that all who believe in Jesus Christ as Savior have the responsibility to follow the Lord in a Scriptural baptism.

As a testimony to the world. Jesus said, “Whosoever therefore shall confess Me before men, him will I confess also before My Father which is in Heaven.” (Matthew 10:32). “…many of the Corinthians who heard him believed and were baptized.” (Acts 18:8). Our baptism is a public testimony of our faith in Jesus Christ, and a

way by which we identify ourselves with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection.

As a means of blessing. Obedience to God always brings blessings. (John 15:7). Baptism does not save us, but it surely does add to the joy of salvation, knowing that we have been obedient in this matter.

HHow are we to be baptized?ow are we to be baptized?

The Bible teaches baptism by immersion, like Jesus was baptized. “As soon as Jesus was baptized, He went up out of the water.” (Matthew 3:16). The Greek word “baptizo” means to dip, to plunge under, to submerge. The Greek words which are translated “to pour, or to sprinkle” are never found in connection with baptism. Furthermore, the Scriptural expressions such as “much water” (John 3:23), “went down both into the water” (Acts 8:38), and “coming up out of the

water” (Mark 1:10), give very definite evidence that Bible baptism was by immersion.
