IntroductionFor many years I have had not only an interest in the Bible, but also in science.

For most people, the two subjects are exclusive of each other.

In this day, they are for the most part mutually exclusive.

This has not always been the case, however.

IntroductionWhile it is true that many scientists have been what can be described at best as agnostics, there have been many who have allowed Scripture to influence their work.

Many of the mathematical formulas that have been developed to predict physical events have been made by observation of God’s handiwork, and yes, some scientists have even given credit to God for this.

Page 5: It is all in God’s word

IntroductionI would like to take a look at what God’s word says on the subject of scientific principles.

Actually, principles that have been developed because scientists have actually observed what happens in the physical world and develop science based on those observations.

IntroductionThe Bible is not necessarily a science book, but when it speaks of science, God’s word is always correct.

The Earth Is RoundOur King James Bible tells us the earth is round. We see this in Isaiah 40:22 when it describes the circle of the earth.

By the way, we will be reading Isaiah 40:22 again in another section.

Isaiah 40:22 (KJV) 22 It is he that sitteth upon the circle of the earth, and the inhabitants thereof are as grasshoppers; that stretcheth out the heavens as a curtain, and spreadeth them out as a tent to dwell in:

Page 8: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundThe principle of a terminator can be seen from what we read in Isaiah 40:22; about the circle of the earth.

There is a line between day and night that can be seen.

This occurs when an object, like the earth, is both round and actually a sphere.

Michael Kahler

Page 9: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundWe can especially see it when we look at the moon when it is not a new moon or full moon.

Michael Kahler

Page 10: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundConsider, also, that no matter where you stand on the earth, if you have an unobstructed view of the horizon, there is an arc to it.

You will see an arc to the horizon here in the United States just as much as you would see the arc of the horizon in Israel, China, Australia, on the ocean.

This only happens if an object, such as the earth, is spherical in shape.

Michael Kahler

Page 11: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundI would like to point out that we use Scripture by rightly dividing Scripture.

There are examples presented by others who attempt to prove the same point of a round earth, but do not rightly divide Scripture.

This only leads to shame.

Michael Kahler

Page 12: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundMany professional Christian scientists will attempt to use Job 26:10 in their defense of a round earth.

The problem lies in the fact that they are using corrupt versions when doing so and this leads to them NOT rightly dividing the word of truth.

Michael Kahler

Page 13: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundHere is Job 26:10 as found in the King James.

Job 26:10 (KJV) 10 He hath compassed the waters with bounds, until the day and night come to an end.

Michael Kahler

Page 14: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundHere is Job 26:10 as found in the ESV and NIV.

Job 26:10 (ESV) He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.

Job 26:10 (NIV) He marks out the horizon on the face of the waters for a boundary between light and darkness.

Michael Kahler

Page 15: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundBoth of these corrupted versions talk about a line separating light from darkness on the face of the waters.

The King James does not say this however.

The King James correctly states that the waters are bound by God UNTIL the day and night come to an end.

Michael Kahler

Page 16: It is all in God’s word

The Earth Is RoundLook at this from what is stated in Revelation and you will see the King James states it correctly, while the ESV, NIV, and every other Vatican version of the bible gets it wrong!

Revelation 21:1 (KJV) 1 And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.

The Earth Is RoundRevelation 21:23 (KJV) 23 And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

Revelation 21:25 (KJV) 25 And the gates of it shall not be shut at all by day: for there shall be no night there.

The Floating EarthEver wonder how the earth stays where it is, in orbit around our sun?

Why doesn’t the earth just continue to fall forever in an expanding universe?

This is where the physics is beyond the scope of this message.

Suffice it to say, however, that God does address this in Scripture!

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 19: It is all in God’s word

The Floating EarthJob 26:7 (KJV) 7 He stretcheth out the north over the empty place, and hangeth the earth upon nothing.

It boggles the mind to understand how this can be.

But, there are pictures that exist now that show the earth, in space, floating on nothing.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 20: It is all in God’s word

The Floating EarthThe pictures do not show anything supporting the earth in its place.

The earth literally is hung upon nothing.

God is right again!

The Expanding UniverseThe same Big Bang Theory proponents that we spoke of earlier will try to prove their hypothesis by pointing to things like the expanding universe.

They will say, if the universe is expanding, doesn’t that mean it had to explode from some central point?

The answer … Absolutely not!

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 22: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseMany of us expand as we grow older, but that does not mean we exploded into existence!

It merely means that the universe is expanding.

What the evolutionist does not understand is that God is the one causing the universe to expand.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 23: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseIsaiah 44:24 is just one of three places in Scripture where God speaks of causing the universe to expand.

Isaiah 44:24 (KJV) 24 Thus saith the LORD, thy redeemer, and he that formed thee from the womb, I am the LORD that maketh all things; that stretcheth forth the heavens alone; that spreadeth abroad the earth by myself;

Michael Kahler

Page 24: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseGod is not only reminding us that He created all things, but adds additional information about the expanding universe.

If you are looking closely at this verse, you will notice the “eth” ending on the word stretch.

This means God not only stretched the universe once, but is continuing to stretch it.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 25: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseI’ll list the other 2 verses speaking of this and then we can see how science speaks of an expanding universe.

The Expanding UniverseZechariah 12:1 (KJV)

1 The burden of the word of the LORD for Israel, saith the LORD, which stretcheth forth the heavens, and layeth the foundation of the earth, and formeth the spirit of man within him.

Page 28: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseWhen I read these verses from Scripture, I get the idea that an expanding universe has been known of for a very long time!

Main stream science seems to be catching up very slowly!

Michael Kahler

Page 29: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseAstronomers, in general, these days believe the universe is expanding.

This wasn’t always the case and I can only imagine the idea of an expanding universe, which was contrary to more ancient scientific knowledge, would have caused the astronomers of those days to question the word of God.

Michael Kahler

The Expanding UniverseAstronomers, in general, these days believe the universe is expanding.

If our way of thinking contradicts what God states, then it is our way of thinking that is wrong, not God.

Michael Kahler

Page 31: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseOne way of understanding the expanding universe is to picture a balloon with several dots drawn on it. The dots are a certain distance away from each other, and as the balloon is blown up, expands, the dots become farther and farther apart.

Michael Kahler

Page 32: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseSomething that has been observed in astronomy is something called the red shift of galaxies.

It has been observed that as galaxies mover further away, the light that is emitted by them, and seen by us, has shifted to the red end of the spectrum.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 33: It is all in God’s word

The Expanding UniverseThat light has been stretched from the blue end of the spectrum to the red end of the spectrum.

The wavelength of light is longer at the red end of the spectrum than the blue end of the spectrum.

Interesting that the light of stars and galaxies stretches just as the universe itself is being stretched.

Energy-Mass ConservationWe end this portion of our study with the idea of the

conservation of energy and conservation of mass.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 35: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationA principle, if you will, that is taught in science is that

energy can neither be created nor destroyed.

Energy can be changed from one type to another (heat, light, sound, etc.), but the amount of energy in the universe is constant and cannot be changed.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 36: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationSimilarly, the idea of the conservation of mass is taught.

Mass cannot be created nor destroyed.

It can be changed from one type to another but the amount of mass in the universe is constant and cannot be changed.

Michael Kahler

Page 37: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationMass and energy are really the same thing, but are just

made known in different ways.

Einstein’s famous formula shows this.

E = mc2

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 1:1 (KJV)

1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

Here we see God has created everything.

The first few days describe some of the creation dealing with the earth.

When we read about what God created on the fourth day, we see the following.

Page 39: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 1:14–15 (KJV)

14 And God said, Let there be lights in the firmament of the heaven to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days, and years:

15 And let them be for lights in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth: and it was so.

Page 40: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 1:16–17 (KJV)

16 And God made two great lights; the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night: he made the stars also.

17 And God set them in the firmament of the heaven to give light upon the earth,

Page 41: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 1:18–19 (KJV)

18 And to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness: and God saw that it was good.

19 And the evening and the morning were the fourth day.

Page 42: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 2:1–3 (KJV)

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were finished, and all the host of them.

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

Page 43: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGenesis 2:1 says the heavens and the earth were finished,

and all the host of them. The whole of creation was finished.

Creation was finished, so nothing new was being created.

God finished it all.

Michael Kahler

Page 44: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationJohn 1:3 (KJV)

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

This is the first part of what we read about the conservation of mass-energy.

Nothing can be created, because God has already created everything and he was finished creating it by the seventh day.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 45: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationBut what about the part that says mass-energy cannot be

destroyed.

Well, God has that taken care of in His word for us, also!

Energy-Mass ConservationColossians 1:16–17 (KJV)

16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:

17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 47: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationBy him all things consist.

They continue on without falling apart; without being destroyed!

We see that God upholds all things by his power in Hebrews 1:2 – 3, also.

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 48: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationHebrews 1:2–3 (KJV)

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds;

3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

Michael Kahler
A picture of the North American Nebula in the constellation Cygnus.
Page 49: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationGod literally spoke all things that are into existence.

This is how the things that are visible and invisible were created.

It is the same thing that upholds all things, or causes all things to consist.

His word is what is responsible for the conservation of mass-energy.

Michael Kahler

Page 50: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationScience would like you to believe they do not operate out

of faith.

Their way is a way of believing things that are determined by observation and experimentation.

If this were truly the case, things like evolution and the Big Bang Theory would not be forced on students as fact.

They mock Christians for their faith in God.

Michael Kahler

Page 51: It is all in God’s word

Energy-Mass ConservationOur faith in God is not based on economics or pride, but on

the proven facts presented to us through historical verification of prophecies that have come to pass and historical places and peoples.

We know God created the earth and the universe by faith, and believe it because God has proven Himself correct in all things.

Michael Kahler

Page 52: It is all in God’s word

Hebrews 11:3 (KJV) 3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.

Call To SalvationWill you have faith in science to save you?

There is no salvation in science.

Salvation is through believing on Jesus alone.

This is what the creator of heaven and earth has told us in His word.
