Pilot programme Overview

An initiative to develop IT programming skills for employment in Wales

Aim:

•To provide unemployed candidates with the practical programming and employability skills to gain employment in the IT sector in Wales.

Exciting new initiative developed in a partnership including the Welsh Government working with the National Skills Academy for IT, employers, Jobcentre plus and Careers Wales.

Programme Overview

• Aim is to develop the blend of IT and employability skills required by employers, in order to provide unemployed candidates with the best opportunity for full time employment.

• Target 30 candidates - including graduates (from IT and non-IT courses) and the short term unemployed commencing mid October.

• Candidates apply with a statement of commitment to seeking a career in IT.

• Uses industry standard e-learning solutions delivered as a flexible, facilitated, self paced learning programme.

• University of Wales Institute Cardiff (UWIC) delivery partners.
