Two hundred and

fifty business

people from the

Panmure, Glen

Innes, Ellerslie

Business

Associations as

well as the broader

Tamaki area

attended the ‘Breakfast with

the Prime Minister’ event on

Friday 31 May, held in the Marist

Rugby Club rooms on Dunkirk Rd,

Panmure.

Members of Parliament for the

Maungakiekie electorate, Sam

Pesata Lotu-Iinga and the Tamaki

electorate, Simon O’Connor kindly

arranged the business breakfast

and invited the Prime Minister Key

to be the main speaker. Each of

the three Business Associations

also had an opportunity to speak

about their towns.

Gary Holmes, General Manager of

the Glen Innes Business

Association and I took this

opportunity to promote our idea

of connecting to a broader Tamaki

business community around our

Association areas.

I would like to that the Marist

Rugby Club for hosting the event

and for providing us with such a

lovely breakfast.

Simon O’Connor, MP for Tamaki

emailed Gary and I after the

event and said, “Many thanks for

your part in making this morning’s

breakfast such a success!

Talking with various people from

both of your associations and

communities, the feedback was

universally positive. I hope you

felt it went well, and my thanks

for not only your assistance in

making this morning happen, but

also for the work you do

supporting businesses in our

community”.

Josh from Sam’s office said,

“Thank you for your support

today. We hope you enjoyed the

breakfast as much as we did. We

received great feedback and the

Prime Minister who thoroughly

enjoyed his time with us”.

If you are interested in attending

future CEO Breakfast meetings,

can you please send me a quick

email so I can make sure out

database is up to date –

[email protected]

Thank you to the Panmure Library

for hosting our first Panmure

Youth ‘Kick-Out’ event and for

the training providers who gave

up their Saturday afternoons to

participate. Lisa and I enjoyed

the enthusiasm of the young

people who attended the event

and we were impressed with their

singing and dancing talent.

Only two business people

attended the Draft Unitary Plan

meeting held just for building

owners and businesses and

arranged by the Maungakiekie-

Tamaki Local Board. I attended a

total of five Draft Unitary Plan

presentations and I found that

each time I learnt a little more

about the changes, rules and

regulations that is covered in the

document.

WATCH OUT FOR TRICKY CUSTOMERS. Last month a boy ordered four pies and then whilst pretending to look for his bank card, tried to grab the plastic bag of pies and ran out the door, this failed. Later that same day a girl turned up and tried the same stunt but the staff were prepared and she failed as well. She was seen running to a waiting car. Please be alerted to this form of crime and keep an eye on unpaid items left on counters. TRESPASS NOTICES. ‘Any person in lawful occupation

of a place or land can warn someone who is not welcome on the property to stay off. The legal definition of "occupier", in relation to any land or place, includes any employee or other person acting under the authority of any person in lawful occupation of that place or land.’ Please be aware it is you right as a business owner to not allow access to your business by any individual that is causing you problems. By issuing a Trespass Notice they may not enter your properly for a period of 2 years. If they enter you property during this period they are committing a criminal offense. Unfortunately we have a group of troublesome youth in Panmure that are taking advantage of our shop owners. To have anyone Trespassed from you premises is free. If you need any help with this process don’t hesitate to call me to assist with paper work and presenting the Notice.

friendly & efficient staff members, Navi & Baldeep,

have worked hard in creating a well stocked, clean &

bright store. After a difficult start in Panmure, no

thanks to some selfish local criminals, Danny and

Rachel have hung in there and made

4 SQUARE PANMURE a success story.

THANK YOU

I would personally like to thank Dorothy form SUGARCRAFTS for her generosity in loaning me cupcake stands and donating 2 dozen quiches to support the Mercy Hospice Appeal week. - Many thanks for your kindness. Lisa Perry

Stanhope Road School—Auckland Festival of Photography

Our first involvement with the Auckland Festival of Photography dates back several years when we entered the Auckland Photo Day competition. We started out with just a small but keen group of young photographers, some as young as six years old. As the competition grew over the years we continued to submit our entries, and recently with the Fringe element we became the first primary school in the festival.

For the last two years we have hosted our school based exhibition, and shown a range of work from students as young as five, right up to our oldest students in Year 8...but this year it’s bigger than ever...! The newly formed Stanhope Road School Parent Group has put their full weight behind this, and want to make it a real feature on our annual school calendar.

‘If This Land Could Talk...’ features work from all 470 of our students and shows off our exploration of digital photography. This year our interactive exhibition will show off the students work, every photo framed and including the students writing and images.

You can see a promotional mini-exhibition at Melba Cafe - Ellerslie. The opening is on June 14, although the exhibition runs from 11 to 18 June.

Viewing hours are Monday to Friday 3pm to 5pm and Saturday 10am to 4pm.

One of the key improvements being made through the AMETI transport scheme is to make it easier to walk or cycle as well

as providing better transport options. Check out the Panmure Accessibility Guide, available online at

Robyn Davidson John Worsnop Wayne Coldicutt

Luca Gao

I wish to acknowledge the passing of three friends of the Panmure Business Association all in one very sad week. Wayne Coldicutt, worked for Graffiti Guard and regularly painted out the tags in our town. Wayne was always very obliging when we rang him with a tag that needed urgent attention and I enjoyed many conversations with him where we would discuss interesting methods of discipline for the taggers.

I knew John Worsnop in his capacity as the Chairman of the Panmure Basin Advisory Committee. This group of local citizens who lived around or used the Panmure Basin for recreation keeps a watchful eye out for tags, repairs and maintenance and care for the general health of the Panmure Basin. John’s involvement with the Basin started in the 1960’s when he and his family moved to a house on Ireland Rd. John and his wife Laurette were tireless organisers of the Mt Wellington Carnival which later became the Panmure Basin Fun Day. John’s sole aim of the Fun Day was to organised a free outing for ‘the kiddies’. This event is his legacy and it will continue in well into the future.

Many of you will know Robyn Davidson’s involvement with the Panmure Salvation Army Family Store. Lisa has spent some time at the Store and has seen Robyn working hard to give to those in need with her gracious nature and warm sense of humour. Her funeral service in the city earlier last week was attended by well over 300 friends and family.

Gloria Goa from the Chinese New Settlers Services Trust brought her son Luca and her Mother-in-Law in to visit us. What a delightful little boy. Congratulations Gloria and Alan. Gloria will be starting back to work very soon.
