Easy Sean...thanks for speaking to us, I know your off to Italy this week to snowboard for six months, so wereally appreciate it. So lets get through these questions, so the readers can get to know who your are and what your about....

When did you get into snowboarding and skateboarding?

Well I got into snowboarding at a very young age, probably around 10 or 11. I thenprogressed into skateboarding around 15/16, so obviously I am alot better on the snow, but I must say I am beginning to loveskateboarding....

Why are you now beginning to prefer skakeboarding?

Well to be honest, when you come from a snowboarding background and progress onto skateboarding. It does feel very weird that you can jump off the board at any time, which I must say is an advantage over snowboarding. Alot of my buddies say I am nuts, completely

crazy, so when I am down the ramps, I may try something which is abit different. I guess the personality I have with no fear is a massive advantage in this sport. But this has come from years of experience snowboarding...

What are you goals within the sport?

Well at the moment it is 100% on getting sponsored, this is why I am trying to make as many videos with the free time I have. This will hopefully get my name out there and in turn get me sponsored. I just do what I love.... and to be sponsored to do this everyday would be a dream.

Who are your favourite skateboarders?

Well it has to be Tony Hawk just because he is undoubtabley the best vert rider around at the moment. Then Chaz Ortiz, because he is only at the age of 14 years old, and is performing at events such as the X-Games and the Dew Tour.

What board you using at the moment?

Well I am using a Element board at present but I had a DC before...which I loved....

“I just do what I love........”

The following photos were taken down Crawley skate park, one cold evening, when I could round up the boys. Its hard to cap-ture these boys usually, because they are from Maidenhead, and trips down to my town of Crawley are irregualr and to be honest, they happen

once in a blue moon. The boys who are in the photos, are Dominic Kolodziej, Samuel Mckin-less and Sean Revez. All Photos or shall I say im-ages are shot by AdamMetcalf on his cam-corder, and have been edited out by me..............

Welcome, all you snowboarding fans out there, unfortunately this ar-ticle was suppose to feature Sean Revez, but due to him living the distance he does away from me, it has been a problem capturing him. Thanks to a friend of friend I have been able to feature some snow-boarding photos which hopefully all you readers will love and ap-preciate. These photos were captured down in Switzerland by a pho-tographer called Cindy Mills, and as you can see from some of the skateboarding photos in the last article, she is an awesome one at that. Its a shame that this great sport has not really got the chance to progess over here in England as the only facilites close to us are the dry slopes. This was where I was hoping to capture Sean, as he often works at the Bracknell slope. Sean is a crazy snowboarder and hopefully in the near future I will be able to take some shots of him or as he is now away in Italy for six months on a snowbaording trip, we will hopefully be able to get our hands on some rad photos. All the readers that do know Sean will know that these will be off the chain ! The images to the right were captued in Davos Switzerland, where the riders were busting some nice grabs down in the halfpipe. As you can tell from the photos it must to have been a perfect day for snowboarding, nice clear day, sun out, as these have come out su-per clear. I especially love the photo the furthest to the right, the colour which looks almost luminous blue looks awesome on the snow and is a wiked constrast agianst the riders red jacket. The photo to left is a great shot of the rider busting out a hand grab, loving the shodow here. Which just leaves the last photo. A brilliant captured image of the rider doing a grab mid air. I must say, if I was part of the advertising team for any snowboarding campaign, this shot would have to used. Im not sure if any of the riders featured in these shots are pro - snowboarders but they make great photos and I suppose that is the bottom line. If I could feature their names I would love to, so they could maybe get some recognition for what they are doing out there, but im afraid I cannot, This article is primarily to promote Cindys photography as Sean was unavailable to capture and I really wanted to get some snowboarding in here, So I hope you readers like the photos, there is also another two images on the fol-lowing pages which I was also feeling so decided to feature those as full page shots. You guys that decided to buy the paper based maga-zine and not just view the online version have the option of ripping them out if you are one of those people that like to stick things to the walls of your bedroom. I however suggest you dont do this, as you will ruin a beautifully constructed magazine. But then who of you out there actually listened to what people told you to do. Any of the readers out there that have some awesome shots of yourselfs or your mates snowboarding, send them in. We would love to feature you. and maybe if your photos look rad enough, you maybe down for an inter-view. I am a fan of skiing on the snow, but once being introduced to snowboarding, I never looked back. And unless you are jumping a cabin in the alps, I dont think you are what we are looking for. All photos can be mailed to me at my email address available on the Fa-cebook group, MySpace page and website. If you are now a member of the Facebook group, you can upload photos of yourselfs and friends for other members to view and comment on, so get uploading..You can also view more of Cindy;s work on her Facebook and Flickr page.

Another secondary photo of the rider busting out a hand plant. Loving the constrast between the riders hat and the snow here. Obviously a hard trick to do even through skateboarding, so imagine doing it on a surface like snow. I am thinking this photo was captured after the photo featured on the last page, due to his position and the fact he is almost vertical in this shot. Absolutely Brilliant, awesome shot Cindy !

Page 29: Issue I

Another shot of the rider shown on the double page, also trying his hand at a hand plant. Probably not as great as the rider before, due to being a little lower from the lip, but still lookin wiked. I am loving this riders board. Not sure what make is it, anyone who knows please contact me, as I would love to get my hands on it. I am thinking in the next issue we need to feature a Questions and Answers page, what you guys think?

Welcome Tom Crittenden, thank you for doing this interview and taking the time out of school and train-ing to speak to New Pollu-tion and letting people know who you are.......I have to say, you are the youngest person we have in-terviewed. But as we love to promote all up and coming talent, you were a must !

When did you First get into motorcross?

I started racing at the age of 11 after a couple of years playing around on dis-used land, which wasnt located too far from my house, and was a massive opportunity for me to play about with my bike and learn how to really ride one.

What was your First bike?

My First race bike was a Honda 85 2-stroke.

Where do you go to practice/train?

I train at my home gym. It’s important to work hard off the bike as well as on it. My bro is a massive Fitness freak, which I suppose is really awesome for me. He pushes me really hard and gets me to my peak of Fitness. I also practice all over the UK, and Europe. My favorite UK tracks are Essex MX and Milldenhall. All I am think at the moment is to push myself as much as I can now, whilst I am young and hopefully make it into mainstream racing.

What are your goals within motorcross, where do you see yourself going in the sport?

To gain my expert points this will then enable me to compete in the British championships. I would love to become a pro, so I guess that’s my main goal. As I said above, the more I push myself now, the greater chance I have of achieving this goal.

Favourite race track?

Milldenhall. I won 5 races in a row their this year!

4 stoke or 2 stoke?

4 stroke all day!!!!

.Do you ride motorbikes on the roads or just strictly off road?

Just off rode, I’m only 15 lol!!

Thanks for talking to us Tom, we wish ya the best of luck in your new 125 class......

You can check Tom out racing at Milldenhall, every last sunday of the month.

Where do you see yourself now, what are you looking to win next?

I’ve just moved up to the School Boy 125 class. I’m now riding a Honda 250 F. My next goal is to win the stevenage School boy 125 club championship. This is a massive step for me. The jump up to a bigger bike is huge. If you have ever ridden a motorcross bike of that much power, you will understand how hard it is to have full control over the bike. This is why I am training in the gym ever day to gain more strength, which will in turn help with my riding abilities.

What have you won?

I’ve just won the Inter 100 club championship for 2008.

What bike do you want next and why?

My new Bike is the Honda 250F 2009. Honda’s are great bikes, I won a championship on one! I suppose I cannot really comment on other makes of bikes, as I havent had a chance to ride any others. I have been told that Yamaha’s are brilliant bikes. Hopefully in the future I will have the opportunity to ride one. But at the moment I am sticking to what I feel comfortable on. I am also learning about bikes and how they are put together, I am really interested in how they are built and want to get involved with the Fixing of my bike and the maintaining of my bike.

Who is your biking idol?

Has to be Travis Pastrana, just because he is the man, I would have to say he must be at the top of every motorcross bikers list.He has won the x-games a stupid amount of times, something like 14. He has now gone on to rally driving, which I think is really cool, trying to excel in another sport.

Page 34: Issue I

Going clockwise round the photos: First pho-tos is Tom racing to vic-tory at the Essex Mo-torcross track. So much power in that bike that the front tyre is even off the ground. Look at him riding like a real pro, leaving his fellow oppo-nents to eat his dirt. You cant even see them in the distance. A sign of a real winner. Second photo is Tom going all out round a corner at the motor-cross track up in Essex.Third photo is Tom rac-ing through a corner at lightening pace down the Milldenhall track. Just look at that for an image, great shot of the loose mud spraying up from the rear tyre and Tom leaning in through the turn. I must say, the bright colours of the helmet and top look awesome agianst the dull colours of the dust behind.Last photo is probably my favourite. Check him out. Tom gliding through the air at one of his races this season. Looks like a real pro here, not long now Tom, not long. Check the next page for photos of Tom’s winnings from this years racers and also some from the past. As you will see, there is a fair few trophies. This is for all the up and com-ing motorcross riders out there or for matter of fact any type of sport. Tom is showing what is really possible here, if you put the effort in, you can achieve your goals. Lets all wish him the best of luck in the future and maybe we will be soon to see him hitting ou screens either competing in the X-Games or hopefully rep-resenting our country in the Olympics. Any of you out there into motorcross ?? Got photos?? Send them in...and we may just feature ya like Tom....

Well Dan, Thanks for inviting New Pollution down

to the studios in ACM at Guildford. Let the readers know what your about and

where you are hoping to be in the near future......

So dan, I know you have always loved music, but when did you

decide producing was your thing?

(Dan thinks for a second) When I was about 17, producing round

a mates called rob, on fruity loop, then realise that was what

I wanted to do, so went and got a cracked copy of logic of another

mate called Tom, who was already on his degree course in Music

Production.

DJ’ing was obviously a massive kick start for you, but when did it

all begin?

Well I actually started play clari-net when I was 8 then a year after

that I got bored and started to play the piano. Then I have

basically played that all my life.I then, when was 15 got my First pair of decks and never looked

back. The decks were Gemini SA600.

We all know you love to spit over a beat, when did you start to write

lyrics, and are you going to be featuring your vocal talents on

your beats?

I started to write lyric around the same time as I began to DJ, so say 15/16. I dont know if im going to

bother spitting over recent tracks, im looking more into writing song for other artists. Majorly

singers.

Who are your Inflf luences? If any....Lyrically & the production side

I havent really got any inf luenc-es, more people whos talents I re-spect in the business. for example Timberland, where every track, his

Higher Diploma Course whichthen leads onto a BA Honors

Degree.

What do you like to listen to when out in a club?

I prefer to go to a Electro night, anything that is dirty, funky, a good variation of good house.

Whats on you iPod now?

Music and f ilms, only joking hahaha It ranges from Bassline to RnB and Hip Hop to Oldskool

Garage to Drum and Bass.....even abit of indie which just shows my

variation in what I listen to.

Thanks Dan for talking to us.

Make sure you check out:

www.myspace.com/dubster44

production is well tight. Others would be Dr Dre, Davinci from

the Grime scene in London, none other that come into my

head now....

Where do you see your beats going, where would you see

them being played or want them being played?

Everywhere pretty much, everywhere where people want

to hear them, def inatly my house and dance productions in a club, seeing people vibing to

my tunes !

What genre do you most enjoy producing?

Got to be Hip Hop, its only recently I have moved onto

producing house and dance, as hip hop in the uk seems to be going nowhere, and seems to

be a more american thing. Hip hop doesnt seem to make much

money in the uk. The life expectancy of a Uk hip hop

artist. looks to be very short. just look at talents such as Plan B. You hear of them for a while

then they disappear. Its like the americians arent given us any

room to break out. Hence why I moving onto dance and house.

If you could work with any artist, who would it be? Singer

or producer?

I would love to work with Timberland, just the fact that

I could learn so much from him, his production is next

level. Mark Ronson, because his production is just like motown

but with a new kind of feel to it. Neyo or Chris Brown because

they really good singers, also Alicia Keys and Estelle.

What software you using and why?

Logic Pro 8. On my IMac, just because I had been using the

software for a good 3 years before uni and I have now been

at uni for just over a year on

So lets welcome Boby Schu to the fresh newly devel-

oped magazine, by asking him a few questions which

will then get the readers acquainted with who you are

and also give the readers abit of an insight to

how you came to be where you are today....

Where did it all start Bobby ?

My musical interests began at a very early age. As a young lad I

played a number of instruments (all of which I have

not taken any further than a Grade 1) These instruments were the piano, trumpet, guitar, and of

course the classic, recorder. I took the piano further and still have

skills. I can read music basically.

that album I feel that maybe one or two tracks actually sound

complete and fif inished. I would def ifinatly have to say the album

was rushed, but I am not using that as an excuse. I guess at the time it was where I was at then,

but now I feel I am alot wiser and the new tracks are sounding

alot more professional and complete.

I have to say I loved the album, and I did make alot of people

listen to it.....

Cheers man

So you working anywhere at the moment?

Well I am working at a studio in London called Hatch Farm Stu-

dios, but I am not getting paid at present, just learning, learning and more learning. Im not get-ting to produce anything, more helping around the studio and

also soundtracking DVD’s which is cool. Im loving it to be honest,

but I am also looking elsewhere to get to a

studio to produce my own stuff under a label and getting paid

for it. Thats the dream.

Best case senario for Bobby Schu what is it?

Well as I said its 100% getting paid to produce my own stuff, Im not into producing tracks for other people. Im not really about making alot of money, but just getting recognistion in the scene which I love. I know there isnt alot of money in that scene, but its what I love, and thats what its about. I want to work with artsits that I have on my iriver, and collaborate with producers im feeling.

So Bobby, is there anything out there at the moment that you

would like the reads to cop and listen to or shall they just wait

for you album to drop?

I have recently worked on an album / E.P by a band called US

and Them. Which are from Craw-ley, and are probably the best

talent in this area.

Ok. So when did you decide music was your path in

life ?

My real involvment in music came when my older

brother bought turntables, and I became heavily involved in the art of DJ’ing. Nothing big, just friends parties, the occational

pirate radio station, and at one point I was involved in the

“Young UK DJ of the Year” competition at a local night-

club. However I did not prog-ress past the F ifirst heat.

When did theproducing side of music come a

great appeal to youBobby ?

I got into the art of making music after I had completed A levels. I took part in a course

that taught me the ways of mak-ing music.

And at the moment I am taking that one step further by

completeing a degree in MusicTechnology.

Fingers crossed, I can get some recognition for my music.

Thats brilliant, so what and who would you say are your

inf lfluences ?

I have a number of inflf luences. Mainly from the avant-garde

hip hop scene. Producers like Alias and Jel. Well every artist

that has released material on the

Anticon record label. I also love the work of Radiohead and

Bjork. However I would never go as far as to say that my mu-sic sounds anything like these

artists. I am merely inflf luenced by them.

Iv heard your f ifirst album “Change the whale’, which I know was limited, what did

you think? Did you enjoy the album, and obviously making

the album?

Well I loved making the album, every minute dude. But to be honest when I listen back to

Page 46: Issue I

Welcome Nicolai to New Pollution. The reason I have decided to feature yourself

in this fiFirst issue of the magazine, is because of your

vast knowledge of music. Not only because yes you do know alot about music, but also the fact that you have

such a cultured approach to music. Listening to so many

different types of music from all genres and

all countries. Another reason Nico, is the fact that

you now have your own podcast named

‘ ManBitesBlog’, which shares your interest in

music with the rest of the population across the world.

So lets get started..............

What music artists are you most enjoying listening to, out of all

musical taste with friends and others that appreciate good

What got you into music Nico?

Well mainly my mum and dad got me into alterna-

tive music, music which isnt commercial, more abtract and

from different cultures and societies. What it is basically, is my love for just discovering new music and music which just isnt

really popular but is brilliant in its own right and

may have only been heard by a mere few.. I like to f ifind these

tunes and share them with as many people as I know. I guess thats what made me want to do a podcast. So I can share music

which I love and I have discovered through several

means, mainly internet but also word of mouth. As we know the internet is the best way to get

your stuff out there, so as I see it, im just jumping on the

bandwagon.

What do you hope people get from listening to your podcasr?

Well my main goal for the show or podcast is for people to hear

tunes that they would never ever think of listening to, but

through listening to my podcast have maybe gained knowledge

about an artist or producer and are glad they have been shown or

introduced about them....

THANK YOU NICOLAI HUMPREYS FOR TALKING TO

So Del, welcome to New Pollution. Glad you could take time out of your busy

schedule to talk to us. This article is going to let

readers know what pirate radio is and how

you became involved in the scene.

How long have you been mixing?

Well I started in 1998, when my mum bought me a pair of belt drive Soundlab turntables. It

was Christmas 98’. I started mixing trance in my bedroom,

lol. Labels such as Subliminal, Positiva and tidy tracks.

How long have you been involved in pirate radio?

Around eight years I guess,

Is Impact FM yor f irst pirate radio station, or have you done

others?

No, I have done my fair share of pirates. The fif irst was Taste FM

99.8 that started in 2000, that was my own station. I started

that by collecting a months subs off all the DJs that wanted to be on the station, that was around 10 DJs paying £5 each a week. This then gave me enough more

to purchasethe transmitter. I started broadcasting from

random free house that my mates would have, so the

location of the pirate would change constantly. A funny

story about this station, was that KISS FM had to switch off their

station for 4 hours to boost their signal, lol. This was be-

cause they were getting taken out by us in all the sussex and surrounding areas. HAHAHA.

The station was running for around 5 months until we were

Page 59: Issue I

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: NEW POLLUTION ::::::::: 57

locked down by the DTI, direct raid. Not much happened from the raid tho, other than the transmitter equipment was con-fif iscated and we were all given a warning. These were the days when we kept the transmitter in the same place we were mix-ing. Of course this does not hap-pen nowadays. The transmitter is always somewhere else. The next station I was involved in was KIK FM 94.0 back in 2001, This ran for around four months, we then ran the station 7 days a week and as soon as that stated, we got locked off by DTI within a week. Transmitter was taken.

The next station to arise af-ter this was LOVE FM 107.9 which ran for 2 days. Then PLAYA FM 103.4 was started and this was pret-ty successful, we were broadcasting for around 6 months and had some big heads on the station from the grime scene in London, who were Ter-ror Danja and Bruza... Get Me, Get Me, Get Me HAHAHA. PLA-YA FM then changed its name to Freeze FM South which ran for 4 months under a different frequency, which if I remem-ber correctly wss 103.2. After Freese FM was locked off. There

must of been a good 3 year gap. FRESH FM 90.00 was then start-ed and this ran for 9 weeks un-der the first rig we had, then that was taken. Then after this 8 rigs where taken consectively. So the name was changed and IMPACT FM 87.5 was launched. Which I must say has been a very lucky frequency for us. We had been running 16 weeks on the cur-rent rig, and 4 weeks on the previous two rigs. Touch wood this rig should stay up for a while. 200 watts aswell so we are broadcsating a fair distance.

Do you get alot of listeners?

Page 60: Issue I

58 ::::::::: NEW POLLUTION :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Well it goes up and down, we have alot of silent listeners. But I got 130 messages last week on my 2 hour set, saturday 4 till 6, and you were witness to that

wez.

Indeed Del, I was lucky enough to be in the studio, and yeah I must say the phone line was poopping off constantly for the two hours we were there, But then agian Del you know you have your listeners that tune in everyweek just to hear you !

Do you get much attention from OFFCOM, formally known as

DTI (Department of

Well I would say there is 20 Djs all with a 2 hour set on the station. Then a set of management which consists of two people. Not forgetting the technition that maintain all the broadcasting equipment. They are basically the nutters that climb up the mobile phone towers and put our aerial up with the others. I have done itbefore and went home with two cracked ribs, so I will not be partisipating it that agian.

What genres do the DJs play onthe station?

Garage, Drum & Bass, House and abit of Hip Hop.

Who is your favourite DJ?

Well for garage I would say Wesley Jay and then for house I would have to list 3, Miguel Migs, Axwel and Roger Sanchez.

Where do you see pirate ra-dio being in the next fifififififififi5 years?

DIGITAL, DAB, Pirate will go digital.

THANK YOU DEL SANTIAGO............

Trade & Industry)?

Yeh they love us ! Pirate will always die, a little £500 fine isnt going to stop us. Im a pirate for

life....

Do you think laws should be more relaxed on pirate radio?

Of course, Radio is all about money. The government try to licence everything, from paying a TV licence to paying to use a

f ifishing rod !

How many people / DJs are in-volved in Impact FM?

‘‘At the end of the day, with pirates where theres a will theres a way, if ive got money and im surrounded b like minded people, pirate ra-dio will always be around.......’’

DEL SANTIAGO . IMPACT FM 87.5

Above is the old transmitter, 30 watts, which was used for IMPACT FM 87.5. Now they are using a 200 watt transmitter which can transmit up to around 30 miles ! To the right is an image of the double stack used to send their sounds through the airwaves of the south. Look at the size of that aerial, mounted ontop of a mobile phone rig. Below is an image of the RDS transmitting to the screen of the radio. This is so the station looks more professional and also just plainly so the people listening the the station know that they are listening to the South’s Leading IMPACT FM 87.5. Croydon’s big-gest up and com-ing DJ’s....Not only at ‘Loop Bar’ @ Croydon, but now Pa-cha, Ministry, SE1. These boys are the Electro Scene that is blowing out of London . I am going to ask the boys a few questions to see where they think they are going and where the scene is moving. DavidBevan and Greg Hockwood are the two boys that make up the duo which is‘ Local Heroes’. ‘Dirty Disclo-sure’ is the event which showcased their talents and now they aree v e r w h e r e .

62 ::::::::: NEW POLLUTION :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

Welcome David and Greg to New Pollution. Glad you guys could take time out of you busy scedules to speak to us. The reason behind thisarticle is the fact that ‘Electro House’ is blow-ing up massively out of the big LDN and also coun-tries like France. So we wanted the readers to get to know how you guys are involved in the scene and where its all going........

So David and Greg, where did it all start for you guys?

It all started about 9 years ago when we discovered similar

tastes in dance music. We DJ’d separately back then in lo-cal clubs and radio and then took some time off from it all. Then in 2008 we decided to pick things up where we left off and haven’t looked back! We formed the Heroes in June and things have taken off in a way we couldn’t have imagined.

What venues are you playing at and what ones do you prefer/enjoy most?

We have played at the major-ity of the main venues in Lon-don, been to seOne more times than we can remember but our highlight was smashing the main room of Pacha back in Au-gust. The crowd were well up for it and the new audio set up

in there was the perfect tool to bang out some jump up elec-tro! We like any venue, big or small as long as the crowd are there to dance and have a good time, we are all about the feel good n go mental factor.

What genre do you guys play and what gets the crowd dancing?

Our main genre in jump up/jacking electro/fifidget house, anything that gets the place booming and going crazy. We also like to add some diversi-ty whether it be house, techno or tech house. Anything that creates a buzz!

What artists are you feeling

Page 65: Issue I

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: NEW POLLUTION ::::::::: 63

now, in what you guys play when you’re mixing, and also when you’re on your own?

Our favourite artists have to be Herve, Crookers, Drop the Lime and Laidback Luke. Anything they touch is golden. When we are on our own you can catch us listening to tunes from Mark Knight to Deadmau5 and Proxy to Daft Punk, it’s good to enjoy a wide range of music.

Favourite Dj’s?

Laidback LukeKissy Sell OutHerve

Favourite Venues?

MOS, London

Amnesia, IbizaDigital, Newcastle

Where do you two see you’re self’s going? What you aiming for?

We aim to branch out to as far as we possibly can! We want to make our name in London, and then spread it nationally over the UK and then abroad, then the world! Being a full time DJ would be an absolute dream for us, getting payed to party – a heroes dream.

Where do you see the scenegoing?

We can see it branching out into many different crowds in the future. The scene is very over saturated at the moment and

things will start to change when people get bored of the same events and dj’s every week. That’s why we are trying to defifine ourselves as artists, so as long as we are one the flflyer, they know what to expect!

Are you guys going Ibiza next year? Are you playing out there? If you are....where you playing?

We have some big big plans for next year, which do involve Ibiza. We don’t like to let much slip so as soon we know, you will know!

Thanks guys....hopefully that has given the readers an insight into the music which I know you and me both love.....Be sure to check ‘Dirty Disclosure’ last weekend of every month at the intermite ‘Loop Bar’ Croydon..........................

New Pollution would just like to say “Thank you Sean for taking some time out of your design studio, to talk to us....”

First question has to be. Who are you feeling now in the design scene?

To name a few I would say LE COUTEAU JAUNE, Miss Cherry Contrary, Wang Wang Gou, MISS BADCHILD, Chapter 77, Matthew Barnes, at present these are my favourites.

To the right of this spread is some captions of Seans work. They range from flFlyers that he has be commisioned to do for clubs such as Embas-sy in London and Horse Club, Above is some work Sean does under his own name or psuedonym called Neon Skulls. Sean says that the mojority of his work is started in Adobe Illustrator then the fiFinishing touches are then done in Adobe Photoshop. As you can tell from the examples we have tried to show, his work has its very own unique style which obviously every graphic designer wants. We will now try to Find out a little bit more about Sean by asking him a few questions.

Page 79: Issue I

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: NEW POLLUTION ::::::::: 77

What catogory would you place your designs?

I would have to place it in the Graphic Design sector, but to be honest I would say my work is

more illustration based. I try to be different in what I do....so my work doesnt just look like

everything else out there.

Where are you aiming to be in the near future?

Well I have just completed my 1st goal which was to complete university with a good grade.

I managed to gain a 1st in Graphic Design which was great. I am now trying to expand

my business and work for alot of independant busoness. I do not feel that I want to be

working for an agency, as I am then not in control of my own work, and also working for someone else. I like to have full control of the

designs I am doing.

Do you see your work getting the recognition it rightly desrves?

Well thank you. I see my work not being mainstream and to be honest I am happy with

that. I not a commerical person and would rather my work be appreciated in the

undergraound scene. which is what I love, and really would be happier being............

“I just try tobe different

in whatI do....”

After four years in Nothing Hill, Sarto-rial Contemporary Art has no moved to Kings Cross, in the heart of London’s most exciting new art district. Sarto-rial Kings Cross was one of the largest new contemporary art galleries in Lon-don with some 6000 sqaure feet of exhi-bition space. Sartorial is known for its commitment to ground-breeaking art, unparrelleled support of artists, and publications of the art world’s favou-rite fun sized magazine “The Rebel”.Currently there is two major shows which fill the space. One of which is Burning Candy and the other which is Remeber My Name which we will later feature. Burning Candy features threew of the Uk’s most notorious street art vandals. Which are Cyclops, Sweet Toof and Tek 33. They have exclusively for this show created new works with there raw messy trademark punk style that has brought them cult status over the last two years. There is also a book available at the show by an artist called Olly Beck. To the right are some images taken when I visited the show earlier this autumn. To be honest I thought the show was great. It featured alot of work by Sweet Toof, with his trade mark teeth present in alot of his work.

I would recommend the show to anyone who likes street art or just feels like witnessing something a little bit differ-ent. The work is full of colour and some out the work just shouts out at you. The majority of the work is 3D, but there is some wall based artwork. There is a big GRAFFITI feel to the show but this was obvious from the word go, with the three artists being very well known in the scene. I have to say tho, the actual location of the show was immensely fustrating to locate. I went with three friends and all of us not being very fa-miliar with Kings Cross didnt locate the venue for a good half hour....HAHAHA ! It must be only a good 5 minutes from KIngs Cross station if you actaully new your surroundings. It actually ended up with the host of the show being on the phone to one of my friends, trying to tell us where it was for maybe the fourth time in the space of 5 fiminutes. My friend could hear me in the back-ground so immediately guessed the person on the other end couldnt be far. As she said that the host was behind us standing at what looked like a front door of a house. Crazy. Hence the ran-dom image at the start of this article of what anyone would describe as a stan-dard front door and not an entrance to an awesome exhibition. Dont let this put you off though, if your as persistant as we were or actually know where you are going. You will eventually locate this place and will be happy you found it. We spent what must of been at least an hour in there and the three friends I took on my travels are not even interest-ed in art what so ever. I think that somes up how interesting it was. There will be alot more images of this show posted onto the facebook group for the maga-zine and also on the MySpace page and the website. I didnt want to try to fea-ture all the images I captured as there was alot I must say. I think these im-ages tease you with the talent that was showcased and I hope all of you readers make the efforts to check all the other images. You will not be dissapointed. Just when we went to leave, the host then told us there was another show downstairs which named Remem-ber My Name. Some of the work I have featured on the next two pages, this turned out to be a goldmine.........Burning Candy @ The Sartorial Contem-porary Art Gallery. Kings Cross. London.

As stated in the last page, this show was located below the Burning Candy ex-hibiton. Which was a plesant surprise. Remember My Name is about celebrities who thought they could only cope with life by being famous and then found out they couldn’t. Showcasing Sartori-als superstars plus some bright new things. Works from such artists as Julie Bennet, Sarah Doyle, Mikey Georgeson, Gretta, Mat Humphrey, James Jessop, Jasper Joffe, Annie Kevans, Cathy Lo-max, Martin McGinn, Gavin Nolan, Harry Pye, Chris Tosic and Gavin Toye. There was works based on such celeb-rities as Michael Jackson, Amy Wine-house, Gary Glitter, Angelia Jolie, Kurt Cobain and George Clooney to name a few. I must say the Gary Glitter piece mist have been everyone’s favourite. It had all of us talking on the way back to the tube station. Genius. Obviously these piece aren’t to be taking too seri-ously, and are only abit of fun. Please. If you are going to come visit this show, dont leave saying “You cant portray him like that...” Its art. Artsits love to be controversial. Overall the show was brilliant, there was some piece which I wasnt really to fond of, but everyone has there own tastes, and the good out weighted the bad. There was also a piece that is located to the left of the page, that was what seemed to be plaster on a mirror, representing cocaine as there was blatent lines racked to the edges of the mirror. This cocaine then has a model boat driving through it, which I can only imagine to represent the im-portation of the drug. But who knows what the artist was trying to illustate. Whatever the meaning I thought this was a pretty cool piece and was by an artist called Matt Humphrey. Who also did the Gary Glitter piece and Cobains gun. This was an awesome bit of weld-ing. Also featured to the right, is an im-age of the work. The gun was extened further so it actually came back on it-self. This was I guess to illustate the suicide. And for all the readers that dont know who Kurt Cobain is, which you all should. He was the lead singer of Ni-vana. All images will be uploaded the same as the images from Burning Candy. Please check them out. This show will be running the same as Buring Candy until early 2009 so be sure to make a visit. 26 Argyle Square. Kings Cross. London. WC1H 8AP. 020 7792 5882

This article has been created for the Street art lovers and all the people which just loveurban art. This month we decided to look and discover all the amazing art which can be found in the city of Brighton. We managed to locate some discusting GRAFFITI. Brighton seems to be second capital for this shit. The image that was shown on the front of this article was located down Trafakgar Street and Above, Top Left, Right and below Gloucester Street.

Page 93: Issue I

::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: NEW POLLUTION ::::::::: 91

The imgaes shown above were located down a street called North Road, this was were the more large art was found. I mean these pieces are HUGE ! The image shown across the top is a whole house, then the two images shown below this, are sides of houses. I am at a total lose to know if these are actually illegal pieces of art or if the artist has been commissioned to do these. Either way these pieces are fucking off the chain and I am glad I can share them.

Page 94: Issue I

92 ::::::::: NEW POLLUTION :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::

I managed to filocate these pieces of graf down a road called Whitecross Street. All I can say is I chose the perfect day to hit Brighton to take these images, these board went for miles !

I am guessing that these piec-es wont be up for long as they were found on the boards which

surround building work. So get down to the seaside city of Brighton and see these in person.

Welcome Josh, long time no see. So not only is it good to see you but also to catch up

on present fashions. So hopefully you will be able

to show the readers what you are about and where

fashion is at present in this urban society we are living

in........

Describe your style?

My style consists of a combination of looks. I like to create my own

look by putting items that normally wouldn’t be put

together. Basically I like to make an impact.

What and who are your influences?

I am influenced by music and art. I think fashion, art and music all

kind of run together. If I’m in a loud vibrant mood I’m gonna be

listening to electro and wearing bright funky colours, but then I

could be listening to Kings Of Leon and be wearing more

traditional indie attire like skinnys and a trilby.

Whats your favourite item of clothing?

OOOOOOO. . . My favourite item. . . it is a tie between my illus-

trated people cardigan, i got it in the alternative section of Topman,

Oxford Street. I love it! or. . . my members only jacket from Urban Outfitters, a vintage jacket which makes even me look half decent.

Whats your favourite shop/store and why?

Without doubt my favourite store is Selfridges. The destination

shop. It has everything you could ever want and more. After the

1000’S of times Ive been I still get that buzz from it. The ranges

they have to offer are exceptional. But. . . I guess a bit of me should say Amici. My home from Home.

would help real brands prospure and maybe do somethinfor 3rd

world trade.

Who is your style icon and why?

Style icons... Viviene Westwood, Alexander MvQueen and Danny

from Grease, gotta love that leather jacket.

Who is your favourite designer or favourite brand and why?

I dont think I have a favourite designer tbh, I love a lot of

stuff. I like what Edwin are doing atm, nice denim. All

Saints are always impressing me, I love how dark they are. The

whole smartish victorian sex slave look.

Thank you Joash for talking to us. Hopefully the readers have gained some knowledge about

fashion from reading this article and also learnt a little about

you.

Be sure to check out Josh on facebook......under:

JOSHUA BULLEY

We may not have all the fund-ing, but we have the knowledge

and passion. My colleague Olivia has the best eye for style

and she really blemishes in an independent environment.

Where do you see yourself going?

Where do I see myself going?? Well I plan on going to Thai-land to get away for a bit, the

pressures and grit or the West-ern way are getting to me a bit

so a nice break on the beach is in order. Then who knows,

as long as I have influences and passion Im sure I will still be in fashion. Maybe a go to guy

for the stars?

What would you say is in for this coming winter?

Well normally scarves and coats. Knitwear is massive this

winter, so go get a big over-sized wooly jumper and wrap

up warm. Boots with a thin sole, not timberlands or CAT’S

for fucksake. Try some of the Diesel footwear or for a cheaper

option try Zara.

What are your pet hates in fashion?

My only real pet hate is when people knock down or criti-cize someone who is trying something new. If everyone

did that we would never evolve and would be stuck in time. Be

brave, Be daring, do what you want. Not only for your sake, but for the sake of the world.

hahaha. . . poet/designer.

What would you do to improve the fashion industry? What

would your influence be?

There isnt anything I could do to change fashion on my own, but as a collective I think we

should stop shopping at Primark and other quick

fashion, cheap stores. This
