Year 9 Netball

Congratulations to the Year 9 Netball Team who were placed 3rd in the District Netball Rally.

Within our pool we were extremely successfully and came first with wins over Harris, Gateway and Grays Convent.

In our first game against Harris, the girls achieved a 9-0 win with player of the match awarded to Ruby Trencher for excellent movement around the court. Our second game against Gateway was very close with both teams working so hard in the wet and cold conditions with goals being score in quick succession by both teams. However luck was on our side with the final result being 6-5 to us. Player of the match was awarded to Natasha Hildrew for an amazing interception that allowed us to get the final goal. In our last game we played Grays Convent in again a very close game where we were victorious with a result of 4-3. Player of the match was awarded to Emma Cox.

We progressed through to the semi-final where we played William Edwards; unfortunately we were unlucky and the final result was 5-2, all girls kept working and played their hardest during the final match. Player of the match was awarded to Ellie-May Davis. Congratulations also goes to player of the rally Poppy Proctor.

Congratulations to the Year 9, 10 and 11 girls’ football team who

played Grays Convent on Monday. All girls played fantastically;

final result 0-0.

Also Congratulations to the Year 7 and 8 girls’ football team who

also played Grays Convent and won their game after two

fantastic goals from Dakota Glandfield, making the final score

2-0 to Gable Hall.

This is a very good way to make a difference and give back to our NHS so why not do something new in the

E-Safety Tip:

Students travelling to

school on the bus

We have received many phone calls from members of the public informing us that students are exiting the bus and walking in front of it to cross the road, rather than using the zebra crossing located next to the bus stop.

This is a serious safety concern for students, as cars are overtaking the bus and on several occasions, have come close to hitting our students.

Please can we request that you reiterate the importance of road safety to your child and ask them to use the zebra crossing to prevent any future accidents.

Introducing the new sQuid mobile app

All sQuid account holders are now able to access the sQuid mobile app, which enables

parents to pay for trips via mobile devices in addition to lunch top-ups.

The app is available from your usual app provider by searching “sQuid”

Student Sickness/Illness Procedure

We advise students who feel unwell dur-ing the school day to report to

medical bay and not to call their parents themselves .

We ask parents to support us by liaising with the school before coming to collect their children as this could result in an

unauthorised absence mark.

We invite parents to take a look at our Ortu Gable Hall Facebook and Twitter page @OrtuGableHall.

We are updating the page daily with information on what students are doing in their

lessons, upcoming events, sports results and much more.

Should you have any queries or concerns about your child, in the first instance please can we ask that you speak to their Form Tutor. If you have an issue with a specific lesson, please can we ask you to speak to the relevant subject teacher. After speaking to the Form Tutor or subject Teacher we are sure that issues will be resolved, however if you are unhappy with the response, please can you contact the school so we can direct it to the relevant person. We would politely inform parents that we cannot guarantee that if you arrive at school without an appointment, you will be able to see a member of staff there and then as most of our teachers have full timetables throughout the week. We thank you for your cooperation in this matter.
