PERTAPIS Charity Walkathon 2014
15 November 2014 was not the usual Saturday for the full time Diploma in Hospitality Management students as they were given the experience to spend time with the children and other volunteers of PERTAPIS at the Marina Barrage BMC supported the community involvement activity because it has an impact on student’s cultural understanding, and can shape their experiential and ethical learning. Not only does this permit greater cultural understanding and ethical development, but it ensures deeper community partnerships and more exposure to diversity. Based on studies, students who participate in community service learning tend to do better in school. It's believed that community service is somewhat of a missing link for students, giving them the chance to apply what they've learned in the classroom to real human needs. Volunteering is a great way to follow up on and supplement subjects that have been covered in the classroom. As the BMC vision states: To be a leader in holistic education.
More volunteer works to come for BMC students!

Christmas Trivias Do you know that…
*More diamonds are purchased at Christmas-time (31 percent) than during any other holiday or occasion during the year. * According to the National Christmas Tree Association, Americans buy 37.1 million real Christmas trees each year; 25 percent of them are from the
nation's 5,000 choose-and-cut farms. *Santa Claus (or Father Christmas) was originally known as Saint Nicholas. He is the patron saint of children. He is also the patron saint of sailors.
*There are more than 2,700 languages in the world. Santa is fluent in all of them. In addition, he speaks a secret elf language. * All the gifts in the Twelve Days of Christmas would equal 364 gifts.
*Most of Santa’s reindeer have male-sounding names, such as Blitzen, Comet, and Cupid. However, male reindeers shed their antlers around Christmas, so the reindeer pulling Santa’s sleigh are likely not male, but female or castrati.
Happy Holidays everyone!

Christmas is a time of reflection, a time for good cheer, a time for friends and family, during a special time of the year! For this event, Student Support Services Department and Human Resource Department with the approval of the management, organized a party for all BMC full time staff and students on 22nd December 2014 at BMC Bukit Merah Centre ( Level 7 -Room 17- 6:00pm). The whole program was fun and memorable because of the meaningful performances from the students . Staff and students played games and did exchange gifts. A very delicious meal was also served for all. Another good experience to keep from BMC. Till next year!
