The primary years seem to fly by and our Year Sixes are already four weeks into their final term of primary school. Secondary school can be a daunng thought for not only our students but parents as well. There are many quesons, which Im sure you have, which are not fully answered at informaon nights and orientaon days. The Department of Educaon and Training has developed an informave site, which provides hints and ps on how to support your child through the transion to secondary school. During the school term you will receive emails that will include ps, advice and informaon on supporng your child to make the transion from primary to secondary school. On Wednesday 1 November, the Chatham Chargers competed at the Hoopme Senior Fu- ture Stars Regional Finals at The Rings basketball stadium. We went through the pool games winning 3 out of our 4 games, finishing in second place. We played the Weeden Heights Wal- labies in our final. The Chatham Chargers played an amazing game, but unfortunately we lost by 4 points. Well done to Emma Ross, Emilia Mine, Madeline McDonald, Max Pason, No- ah Aeh, James Burne, Ryder Smith and Jamo Smith for showing great sportsmanship and playing so well as a team all day. In closing this week, a reminder to our parent community that under no circumstances is it acceptable for parents to approach another child to reprimand or discuss an incident that occurred during the day with their own child. Oſten when this happens the parent is not informed of all the facts, has only heard one side of the story and oſten they act on emoon rather than common sense! I encourage all parents to go through the school to resolve maers concern- ing students. Staff are skilled in dealing with these maers; they have the facts from both sides and take a balanced, less emo- onal approach to dealing with these maers. If you have any queries regarding this please don t hesitate to contact me at school. Have a great weekend. Rod McKinlay

Last week the environment leaders went to the Melbourne Water Kids Teach-

ing Kids two day conference. The conference we went to was all about being

more sustainable. It is run for kids, and by kids. You go to different workshops

on both of the days, and they are all run by kids. On the first day, we went to

Melbourne University and had lots of fun seeing other kids perform their

workshops. We also enjoyed the gala dinner afterwards, when about five

schools did performances on the stage. The second day was even more of a

blast. We got the chance to run our own workshop. We did that about platy-

puses. We were working with the Platypus Education Group and our work-

shop wouldn’t have been the same without them. We had such a fun time

and we would like to give a huge thanks to Kids Teaching Kids, Melbourne Wa-

ter, the Platypus Education Group and, most of all, Mrs Doherty, for being so

patient and nice, and driving us around. Thank you.

Sarah, Georgie, Will and Alex—Year 6 Environment Leaders
