FMF: FLEMINGTON MIDGET FOOTBALL - SINCE 1 967

I hope this special edition Golf Issue finds everyone enjoying the last days of summer.

This August marks the fourth year for FMF's Kickoff Classic Golf Outing to raise money for ournew football field and the FMF Complex. Despite some ominous weather early on, the daywas a complete success in every way! Nearly fifty golfers spent a fun day on the l inks, enjoyed food and drinks with friends and FMF Family members, AND raised money to supportour kids.

Every year as the date approaches I think to myself, "this has to be the year when we aren'table to top the last outing." and every year I am happily proved wrong.

Sheila Beckman and her team outdid themselves again and provided our golfers with anothergreat experience. We even had some of our players participate this year. Thank you toSheila and everyone who helped to put on The Best Damn Golf Event in the Land!

I also cannot say Thank You enough to all of our event sponsors. Especial ly our PlatinumLevel sponsors: The Silver Oak Lerning Center and the Stevenson Family. Without oursponsors supporting the event, we would not be able to raise the needed funds to completeand improve the brand new FMF Complex. All of the money raised from this year's event wil lgo directly to fund the completion of the new FMF Complex game and practice fields as wellas completion of the new Fieldhouse so that our teams have a place to play both this seasonand many seasons to come.

We are also introducing a new FMF Extended Cheer Training Squad this season. The trainingsquad is something new for girls who would l ike to continue to cheer after the regular seasonis over. I t is an opportunity for the girls to continue to learn and improve their cheer skil lsthroughout the winter.

And final ly, we are introducing a new FMF Mobile App which wil l help our famil ies remain up todate on the happenings throughout the FMF Family.

I t's very exciting times here at FMF.. . and now it's ful l speed ahead into the 201 3 season! ! !

Sincerely,

Craig TorresVice President – FMFManaging Editor – FMF Magazine

Our Vision - Who we areFMF continues to be the premier football and cheer program in the central Hunterdon region while

remaining family-friendly.

Our Mission - Why we are hereFMF provides the most on-field football and cheer experience of any program in the area.

Our graduates leave FMF with a competitive advantage as they move on to High School having beentaught the fundamental skills, concepts and strategies necessary to experience personal and team

success.

Our Values -What we believe* FMF believes in structured training for our athletes in a safe, challenging, family-friendly environment.* FMF believes that team success is a by-product of the individual development of each athlete as they

progress through the program.* FMF believes in developing each of our athletes to their personal potential - physically, mentally and

emotionally.

Originally founded in 1967 under the name Flemington Midget Football , FMF is one of the oldest youthfootball organizations in the area. From the organization's founding until it was restructured in 2010, FMFwas exclusively referred to by its mascot's name “Flemington Pioneers”. Since 2010, FMF has expandedfrom four football teams participating in one league to ten football teams participating in up to three leagues

while also adding a National Champion Extended Season cheer squad.

All FMF Football teams are affiliated with USAFootball, the youth football development partner of the NFL.All FMF Cheer teams are affiliated with the Universal CheerAssociation (UCA), the same governing body

that all High School Cheer teams in the area compete under.

AMERICAN LEGION PARKING LOT

Just a reminder that we are using the American Legion

Parking Lot as guests. Please be courteous and clean

up any items you see in the area. We want to continue

to be allowed to park in the lot and leaving it a mess is a

sure way to lose that.

FOOD PANTRY PARKING LOT CONFLICTS

The Flemington Food Pantry is open unti l 8pm on two

Wednesdays each month. A reminder that on

Wednesdays when the Food Pantry is open late, we are

NOT allowed to park in any spots near the

FieldHouse/Food Pantry building. There are many

elderly Food Pantry cl ients who cannot navigate the

parking lots and must either park or be dropped off near

the building. A listing of Wednesdays the Food Pantry is

open late is located on our website at

VOLUNTEER HOURS

Please don't forget to sign up online to ful lfi l l your

volunteer hours. This is your organization. I t works best

if each family rol ls up their sleeves and jumps in with

both feet to get their hands dirty (and any other saying

you can think of). I t real ly is a great way to meet people

and help out the children.

PICNIC AND PEP RALLY SUNDAY 8/25:

Sunday 8/25 from 4pm to 7pm at Jimmy Wilson

Memorial Field. In keeping with tradition, we ask each

family to provide their own food, drinks and chairs. (No

adult beverages please) and FMF wil l provide the music

and party atmosphere! I t's one of the few times each

year that the entire FMF Family can get together and

celebrate! All boys and girls on our teams wil l be

announced and a ful l organization photo wil l be taken.

Join us to kick off the 201 3 season in style!

S ummer is the season for swimming pools, beaches, backyard BBQ, summer camp

and GOLFING! This August 1 2 marked theFourth Annual FMF Kickoff Classic golf eventat the Copper Hil l Country Club.

A dreary, wet day

greeted everyone

when the alarm

clock rang. I t

most certainly did

NOT look like a

great day for

golfing. I t was a

Monday more

suited for heading

off to work.

Fortune smiled on

us though, and

just before check-

in time the rain

stopped, the sun broke through, and a great

day of golf was had by all who attended.

Nearly fifty golfers warmed up on the practice

tee and the nerves ran high. As they all

made their way around the 6500+ yard, par

72 course, some had more trouble than

others on the beautiful but difficult bent grass

greens. In the end the Fearsome Foursome

led by Lenny Darrow conquered the course,

carding a 1 3-under score of 59.

This year over seven thousand dollars was

raised, al l of which wil l go directly toward

servicing the nearly $1 50,000 debt incurred

by the new lights for the FMF Complex Fields

(both game AND practice). The generosity of

both our golfers and our event sponsors goes

a long way toward making our l ight payment

and keeping us out of the dark!

This year marked the first ever time one of

our current athletes participated in the event.

DJ Stevenson played as part of his father’s

foursome and had a great time golfing with

his Dad. We hope to see more FMF athletes

inspired to take part in next year’s event to

help raise money, not just for their benefit, but

for the benefit of the players who wil l come

after them.

We would be remiss if

we didn’t recognize the

volunteers who spent a

tremendous amount of

time in the offseason

putting together the

Best Damn Golf Outing

in the Land.

Preparations begin in

January, when the

snow is fal l ing the only

people thinking of golf

are Floridians and Sheila Beckman.

Their work continues throughout the Spring.

While we are preparing for baseball and

lacrosse, Sheila and her team are busy

soliciting sponsors and procuring raffle items.

Their hard work final ly pays off every August

when the golfers descend on Copper Hil l

Country Club for a day of fun, golf and

friendship.

Special Thanks to Sheila, Lisa Peake, Joe

Pasquale, Anne Gorski, Darcy Meys, Jeannie

Whalen, Sue Fasteneau and Paige McLellan

for al l of the work you did to put on The Best

Damn Golf Outing in the Land! This year

you even made the rain showers stop and the

sun come out just so we could al l golf!

We're looking foward to next year and hope

to see everyone back!

JAMES L. "JIMMY" WILSONOur Number One Fan

Jimmy Wilson left a lasting memory with everyone who visited Pioneer Field throughout the 1 980's and early1 990's. While his wheelchair kept him from taking part on the field, it couldn't keep him from being part of theteam. At the end of every summer, l ike the changing of the seasons, Jimmy was there to usher in footbal l

season. He was as much a part of the Pioneer family as the crack of pads echoing through the crisp autumn airand the roar of the crowd on game day. For close to a decade, Jimmy never missed a game, indeed, he nevermissed a practice in al l of his time with us. His love for the game and for the team was infectious and wil l beforever remembered. In 1 994, after his passing, the organization recognized Jimmy's contribution to our family

by naming the playing field after him and retiring the number one jersey, in memory of their #1 fan.

JOSEPH YASHKAS6/4/85 - 4/29/00 : Forever a Pioneer

Joey Yashkas was a Pioneer through and through. He played football for the program and was a greatteammate. Joey was a key member of the team from his peewee days through his eigth grade season. As

much as he loved football and his teammates, Joey also loved racing motorcycles. I t was this love that took himfrom us far too soon. After the tragic motorcycle accident that took his l ife in 2000, the organization retired hisnumber 55 and decreed that in remembrance of Joey and Jimmy, their numbers 1 and 55 be painted in the

corner of the endzone for every home game so that they wil l always be part of our family.
