Our staff is continuing to further embed our school’s professional learning journey during 2015. The central practices underpinning this journey include an intense focus on targeted learning, collaboration amongst teachers at each level, as well as the close tracking of students to ensure their successful progression. Our school operates with professional learning teams, whose planning meetings now exclusively focus on four critical questions: What is it we expect our students to learn? How will we know when they have learned it? How will we respond when they don’t learn? How will we respond when they already know it? This year we are exploring approaches in the areas of Mathematics, Personalised Learning, Inquiry Based Learning and consolidating our Oral Language Continuum. We will have four trained staff in the Nadia Walker approach to teaching Mathematics by the end of term 3. Our focus is transforming many of our practices across the school, and this year will provide us with valuable time to continue this important work. Our whole school will be attending a musical performance “Shine a Light” on Thursday 20 th August. Please note that the performance starts at 9:00 so make sure you’re here on time. At the moment some of the songs from the musical are being played before the bell and are being enjoyed by all. Also some of the books focused on in the performance are being experienced in the classrooms. Thank you The dinosaurs and the fire Long ago in the past there were some dinosaurs. They were very peaceful in their land. Suddenly a bad wizard came and he had a pet dragon! The pet dragon caused a fire. The fire spread! The dinosaurs ran away from the fire. The baby dinosaurs tried to run as fast as they could. Suddenly a log fell down off the hill! The baby dinosaurs could not run any further. Luckily their mum and dad saw them trapped against the log. The babies could not move forwards because they were stuck. Luckily their mum and dad got their just in time! By Makenzie Cooke1H Time travelling dinosaurs Once upon a time there was an Allosaurus who set out on the very first day of summer. He met a Tyrannosaurus Rex! This isnt right a Tyrannosaurus Res in the Jurassic Period? How could that happen? Hey mate said the Allosaurus. How are you going? Good thanks said the Tyrannosaurus Rex. The next night the Allosaurus went into an unusual place. In that place he found a time machine. It looked weird. Very weird! He tried it out and he tries to take the Tyrannosaurus Rex back to the Jurassic period. It worked! They all lived happily ever after.
