Now that the local government election is over, I would like to thank the residents of Bli Bli and districts for returning me as their Division 9 councillor. After the results were counted, it was clear that I had a high level of support from residents in this area and I thank you for that. It is a great privilege to serve these wonderful communities and I look forward to working with you over the next four years.

Under the leadership of Mayor Mark Jamieson, the other councillors and I were able to generate a lot of momentum in our first term and the re-election of the Mayor and all councillors validates the great work we have achieved and will continue to achieve over the next term in office.

A word from

CR STEVE ROBINSONWell another Christmas and

New Year period has zipped by and I hope you all enjoyed some time to relax, catch up with friends and loved ones and recharge the batteries after a very busy 2014.

ROUNDABOUT FINISHEDMany Locals will be very pleased to see the completion of the Bli Bli - Nambour Road roundabout in recent weeks. The contractor is putting some finishing touches to the landscaping so this will make it a very attractive entry statement into the thriving township of Bli Bli.It’s great to see the last of the roadworks in this area and I’d like to say a very big thankyou to everyone for their patience while these very important works were under construction.

WETLANDS REFURBRefurbishments to the old Cane Cutters’ Building at the Maroochy Wetlands have been completed. These works included renewal of the roofing as well as excavation around the base of the building and retaining walls for improved drainage. Rectification works were also carried out to the floor on the downstairs level of the building. The next stage of works will involve a renewal of the interpretative display upstairs. These works are scheduled to start in February and will take around one month to complete, weather permitting.Complementing this project will be the sealing of Sports Road that leads to the wetlands.

LET’S TALKIf you’d like to talk with me about anything that’s happening around Bli Bli or anywhere on the Sunshine Coast you can do just that at my monthly ‘meet and greet’ sessions at the River Markets outside the IGA.

The next meeting is Tuesday, February 3 from 9am to 11am. I hope to see you there!

Bli Bli Village CentreIt’s definitely an exciting time for Bli Bli. The Bli Bli Town Centre is about to experience a significant addition with the $20 million Bli Bli Village Centre, which was approved by council earlier this year. Council officers and I have worked closely with Roz and Michael White, the developers of the Bli Bli Village Centre, to ensure we used the site as effectively as possible. Council has also committed funding to create much more modern and vibrant streetscape along David Low Way adjacent to the proposed development.

Other exciting projects Council also provided financial support for the construction of the much anticipated Maroochy River Rowing Clubhouse, which was recently opened at Muller Park. Congratulations to Russell and Donna Muller for their outstanding passion and dedication in making their dream and that of many young rowers a reality.

We also recently had the formal opening of the unique Indigenous themed children’s playground in Muller Park, which was also funded and constructed by council. It is so wonderful to see so many families enjoying themselves in such a great fun environment.

Other key local projects approved and completed by council in recent weeks include the replacement of the roof of the Old Schoolmasters Building and other improvements in the pipeline. An upgrade to the Maroochy Wetland Interpretive Centre is now making great progress with the design and development.

I’m sure a number of locals will also be pleased to hear I will continue to work with the State Government on the construction of the pathway from Muller Park to Godfrey’s Road as well as lobby for improved bus services.

We definitely have some exciting times ahead and I look forward to working alongside local businesses, residents, community, sporting and environmental groups, to ensure we make a positive contribution to Bli Bli in the coming years.

The African saying that “it takes a village to raise a child” means that a whole community can take responsibility for the upbringing of its children and encouraging a family-focused culture. It’s a philosophy that local businesspeople, Roz and Michael White, believe underpins the Bli Bli community and they personally invest at every opportunity in supporting the community that supports them.

The team behind White’s Supa IGA share this outlook, including Bli Bli store manager Regan Jensen, who makes decisions every day based on being community minded.

The White family began their retail journey 22 years ago with very humble beginnings and the company grew through hard work. Their first modest convenience store led to becoming familiar faces as industry and community leaders, well known for embracing and cultivating a culture of ‘locavores’, i.e. people that love to buy and support local.

Each of White’s IGA stores has adopted an exclusive locavore ‘tractor’ symbol to highlight locally sourced, grown and produced lines. It enables customers to identify and buy local goods easily, support the Sunshine Coast economy to be self-sustaining, and encourage environmental responsibility by minimising travel distances and offering fresher food. For example, lettuce is freshly picked just hours before it is available in store and on the plate, Roz says.

Roz is also driving new collaborations with other local companies, like 4 Ingredients, which has become a household name nationally for its cookbooks and television shows helping families eat healthily. Roz is great friends with its founder Kim McCosker and a chat about their synergies has since created a national alliance with IGA Australia, encompassing 1450 IGA stores offering Kim’s products across the country.

The Whites have also demonstrated their support for inclusive employment, utilising local organisations

such as Steps and Carers Australia to provide job opportunities for people with disabilities.

In return, the region and business sector has repeatedly recognised the White family’s efforts in our community and building an innovative business.

For years Roz has donated time to charity and industry leadership roles. In 2011 fellow retailers appointed Roz as the first female IGA State Retail Board Chairperson in the history of IGA in this country. She is also the current Chair of the Retail Guild and serves on many industry committees.

Recently, Roz, Michael and Regan proudly accepted their 19th state and national retail excellence award for the Supa IGA Bli Bli store since it opened in 2013. Last year Regan won the highly coveted “National Retail Achievement award” in recognition of her personal contribution. The Bli Bli store is up for possibly three more awards at the upcoming IGA National conference in July 2016.

Roz is also the 2015 Outstanding Business Woman of the Year, awarded by the Sunshine Coast Business Women’s Network. The award has enabled Roz to build even more networks and networks across the Sunshine Coast and beyond. An active community volunteer, supporter, charity event co-ordinator and board director, Roz is the recipient of three community achievement awards for 2008, 2009 and 2015.

Roz and Michael appreciate all the significant accolades to date but believe that they are only attainable with the support of a solid team – the same “village” analogy applies to their team building and focus each day.

Michael says it is easy to love the Sunshine Coast for its special feel and natural beauty and just as they chose to raise their family here, the Whites will continue to be a part of the lives of other local families for many years to come.

A COMMUNITY MINDED FAMILY

The Bli Bli community is a close-knit one and the Whites are one local family that has been at the heart of its continued development and change for generations, ensuring that the area retains its charm, character and family values as it grows.

ISSUE 21 | WINTER 2016 | Page 9Page 8 | BLI BLI BULLETIN | ‘Our River Community’

Some four years ago Russell and Donna Muller were out rowing on the river with some students and pulled in on the boat ramp at Muller Park. It was on this fateful occasion that the seed of an idea of establishing a junior rowing club began.

As Russell went to get back into the boat a black swan came up to the boat as if to reinforce the idea. It is from the black swan that the club colours are derived, the black from the feathers, the white from the tips of the feathers and the red from the beak.

The achievements of the club members has been well documented as they are already making the old established clubs look up and take notice of what was the “carpark club”. Already there are students from some twenty different schools across the coast that come together on cold chilly mornings and row together before going off to school. Russell and

Donna are that confident about the development of the club that they strongly believe an Olympic rower will come from the club before too long, maybe 2020!

It is a credit to Russell and Donna to have worked so tirelessly to not only get the club up and going but also to have the vision and fight through all the red tape to make the dream come true. Most people would have either said it was too hard or just given up with all the hurdles in the way, but not Russell and Donna. They had a dream and they reached out and made it happen. It is a great example to us all.

So on Saturday 14 May the official opening of the new club house took place with some 16 invited guests simultaneously cutting a ribbon to open the club house. Well done Russell and Donna and thank you for choosing Bli Bli to establish the new home.

MAROOCHY RIVER ROWING CLUB OPENING

He enjoys the uniqueness of Bli Bli having rural vistas, shops and services, parks, walking tracks and bikeways, yet being only a short drive to the beach and to a large commercial centre such as Maroochydore.

In a continuation of his General Practice career and with a plan for longevity of his family here on the Sunshine Coast, the idea of Eclipse Medical was borne.

With the population increasing here on the Sunshine Coast and many people living in Bli Bli and working in Maroochydore, a central location was chosen to cater for the needs of people in many different phases of their lives and with local services including radiology, pathology, allied health and specialists in the vicinity, the location at Emporio Place just off Maroochy Boulevard was ideal.

He and his partner Piotr Swierkowski have developed the centre from concept to creation over the past year, Eclipse Medical, a brand new architecturally designed clinic in the heart of Maroochydore. Their vision came from the desire of having a comforting and friendly environment in which people are happy to discuss their health priorities with their General Practitioner in a modern and vibrant location.

It is a family based clinic with many of their GP’s, including Dr Mulhall himself, having young families and enjoying working with babies, teenagers, young adults and older people alike. They cater to many aspects of general practice and have flexible opening hours, opening Monday to Sunday with extended hours until 8pm Thursday evening and opening until 12.30pm on both Saturday and Sunday as they believe that illness and busy schedules do not always fit together and offering quality after hours care with the backing of a full clinic and local services is important. Services offered include all aspects of General Practice, children’s and adult’s immunisation, contraception and pregnancy advice and care, skin cancer checks and treatments, travel advice, pre-employment and coal board medicals and onsite pathology services.

Recently Councillor Stephen Robinson attended the opening of Eclipse and was kind enough to cut the ribbon and to

say a few words about the innovation that a new clinic and new modern business would bring to the Sunshine Coast as part of his business portfolio to improve growth and encourage jobs locally. The clinic also has links to research projects through Sunshine Coast University and Queensland University of Technology and this is an exciting opportunity to explore funding opportunities and fields of research previously assigned to tertiary centres.

What a great term it has been so far for our school.

Congratulations to our 2016 Student Council. We know these students will hold their positions with pride:- President – Joanna F, Vice President – Sebastian K, Secretary – Olivia H, Treasurer – Xavier C and Vice Treasurer – Maddison P.

Congratulations also to our own Super Kid, year 5 student Michael Behrens, who was recognised by The Good Guys of Kawana for his volunteer work and fundraising for Cancer Research. This was an Australia wide search involving over 10,000 nominees, so it was a great pleasure to see this modest, thoughtful and generous student chosen as one of the coast’s three recipients. Bravo Michael.

We are also very proud of the students who travelled to Brisbane for this year’s ANZAC Day Ceremony. Our school leaders represented the school at the wreath-laying and all students who attended were worthy ambassadors for our school.

Harmony Day was another special day when we think about the aspects of inclusion and ways of dealing with bullying. Each class produced posters with an ‘anti-bullying’ message, all done in the day’s vibrant orange colour.

Our connection to this River Community of Bli Bli was strengthened recently when some of our students were involved with the release of fingerlings into the waterways of the Parklakes 2 development. Continuing involvement with this project will include water quality testing to monitor the health of the system.

The Maths Day of Excellence at Maroochydore SHS saw nine of our senior students compete with distinction against other schools in the area. Well done Caitlyn, Logan, Eden, Xavier, Joanna, Kayla, Ashtyn, Kelsey and Oliver.

Lots has been happening in the sporting arena as well.

Our own Cross Country/Fun Run was an enjoyable day for all – from Preps to Year 6. Everyone did their best and had fun supporting their sport’s house. The oval rang with cheers for Cook, Petrie, Russell and Kabi, but the overall winner for the day was Petrie. Following this, Bli Bli hosted the District School’s Cross Country Carnival on May 6 with Caelen, Brandon and Mikael being selected in the 10, 11 and 12 year’s divisions to represent us at the Sunshine Coast Regionals on May 31.

Other highlights of the term include the Footsteps Dance Program, the year 3 and year 5 Focus Writing Groups and the addition to our staff of Chappy Tony, who will be complementing the wonderful work of Chappy Heather.

Future events – Bli Bli’s Got Talent; School Photos and the District Reader’s Cup Challenge.

So as you can see, the Bli Bli State School is a busy, happy, supportive and vibrant part of the Bli Bli community and we are very proud of our school.

HOW IS SCHOOL CHAPLAINCY FUNDED?The Chaplaincy Program at Bli Bli is currently almost two thirds funded by the Federal Government with the remaining third being raised in the community through the School’s Local Chaplaincy Committee in conjunction with local businesses. With Federal funding due to end in 2018, it is even more imperative that we secure financial support from individuals and businesses in the community, in order for the service to continue.

We are very grateful to our regular sponsors, Lever Law, Bli Bli Vet, White’s Supa IGA and BrandGrowth for their ongoing support of Chaplaincy at Bli Bli State School. We would also like to thank the people who privately support the service with monthly donations.

Will you consider helping with a regular commitment or even a one-off donation? All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

If you are able to help financially or in any other way, please contact Chairman Graham Scott on 0423 595 716, Treasurer Wendy Cook on 0403 001 650, Chaplain Heather Baker on 0408 615 410 or Chaplain Tony Gibson on 0404 859 626.

S T A T E S C H O O LBLI BLIBecause our kids are worth it….

INTRODUCING OUR CHAPLAINS….Heather Baker has been the Chappy at Bli Bli State School since August 2009. Her background is in Youth Work, Counselling and Family Therapy. She’s married to James and they have four daughters and four grandchildren.

Heather says “I became a School Chaplain because I’m passionate about supporting children and their families. I see my primary role as offering pastoral care to students, parents and staff, and to provide a wide range of support networks for them.”

Heather spends much time offering one on one support to children and families in need. She also facilitates group work covering topics such as self-esteem, grief and loss, and social skills to encourage students to discover strategies for coping better with relationships and to realise their unique strengths and full potential in life.

Tony Gibson has been working in school chaplaincy for the past four years. He took up the spare day a week chaplaincy role that Heather recently made available.

Previously, Tony had a huge impact in establishing the role of chaplain at Kawana Waters State College over a period of three years. In his spare days he also took on other chaplaincy roles at Sunshine Beach Primary and Maleny High. His background is in Youth Work, Counselling and as Pastor to one of our local churches. He is married and has four children.

Tony’s love for chaplaincy stems from the influence positive people have had within his life. Tony says, “to be invited into anyone’s life, to offer support and encouragement is a huge honour and shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

Tony has only started in recent weeks but is already running programs of a Thursday aiding students in building resilience, good role modelling and learning to manage energy in positive ways. He states that he is a handball champion in three different schools and looks forward to becoming champion of Bli Bli….. We’ll see…..

WHAT DOES A CHAPLAIN DO?...When you look at a group of kids can you tell which ones are being bullied? Or have just experienced the death of a friend or family member? Or have been neglected or abused? Or even just lonely and trying to figure out where they fit?

Everyday, something happens to someone and our school chaplain is there to care, mentor and support.

As no doubt you are aware the Bli Bli Community Association is keen to have a community bank in the new shops at Bli Bli. We need to move quickly if we are going to secure this opportunity.

As you know many clubs/groups struggle with fundraising ideas and finding people to help. Well these problems may well be solved by the addition of a Community Bank in Bli Bli. In order to get the process started we need to find pledges of $400,000 within the next 2 months so the Heritage Bank will then start a detailed investigation as to its feasibility. If successful at that stage then the process can start in earnest. We have time constraints due to the imminent construction of the new shops and the need to secure premises within those shops.

Basically we need a commitment of $400,000 from the Community and we would ask that you consider pledging an amount of money. It can be anywhere between $100 - $5000.

Please talk to friends and other people in our community and spread the word. It will greatly benefit all our local groups and clubs by providing an opportunity for much needed funds. But also it will assist in our everyday banking needs. Obviously the more our local clubs and groups we have involved then they will be part of the process and will benefit at the end of the day in receiving grants. If we do not get the Community support then the bank will not get off the ground and we will all continue to have to cook sausages and beg for money. You can follow our progress to $400,000 on the 2 signs at the River Markets.

There were boxes and boxes of books up for sale at the recent Book Fair at Edgewater. There were books, magazines and c.d’s to satisfy the most avid reader and listener.

Bli Bli was indeed a busy place on Council Election Day with Edgewater holding their Trade Fair to showcase businesses and their products and services.

Election Day in Bli Bli was more than just about politics and who was going to be elected to council, when Maroochydore Orchid Society held their annual Orchid Show in the Church Hall for 2016. The stars of the show were the many beautiful Orchids on display. Numbers to this annual event were slightly down on last year’s very successful show, due to the Council Elections being held at the same time.

Edgewater Village held it’s Biggest Morning Tea for the Queensland Cancer Fund on Saturday 7th May. We had 89 people attend and raised an amount of $ 2,487.95. It was a fun morning with a lovely home made morning tea served, entertainment by the village’s own Mardon Nicoll and a fashion parade presented by Grammie Rose with clothes modelled by 5 of the village ladies. A great raffle and lucky door prize completed the morning.

From the canefields to the mountains and beyond our borders, rugby league was being played across the North Coast District. Since 1912, one of the Sunshine Coast’s richest sporting histories has ensured that “the game” we love in Queensland continues to thrive today. On the North Coast, several local rugby league clubs boasted their own fields, with major games being played at the Nambour Showgrounds.

Beside the banks of Petrie’s Creek and the Maroochy River, a few of the local sporty types and cane farmers got together to see if there was any real interest to form a local Rugby League Club. The local area already boasted a strong team of cricketers, who honed their skills cutting sugar cane and playing matches on the “turf field” amongst Richard Hegarty senior’s canefields.

Many of the men enjoyed social and competitive sports such as tennis, swimming and lifesaving. However it was not until February 1933 that that the general discussions about rugby league, finally came around to the serious business of electing Club officials and selecting a team of willing young men. The Petrie’s Creek Rugby League was confirmed.

The names of Boyle, Blanch, Egglomesse, English, Espin, Hegarty and Perren are synonymous in the Bli Bli area for growing, cutting and harvesting sugar cane and other horticultural crops. Did you know that the young men of Bli Bli were also keen sportsmen? Together they achieved two premierships in the North Coast Rugby League District during the 1934 and 1946 seasons. Across the years, the team members were all closely connected – some were brothers, others were cousins, brothers-in-law, neighbours, family friends and workmates. However, sometimes those close connections and natural sporting abilities were not enough to ensure seasonal match fitness or game success.

During the Club’s first playing season, the Bli Bli men played to the best of their sporting ability but the local competition was fierce. In the first match of their first season, Petrie’s Creek struggled badly, with Yandina providing the novice team with a relentless and demoralizing onslaught. Yandina posted five tries, one conversion and one penalty goal, while keeping the Creekers scoreless. The final score rested at 19 points to nil.

By the end of the 1933 season, Montville reigned supreme in the B Grade final, eclipsing all rivals. The Montville players were so successful, that the team claimed all three trophies on offer.

The Club officials from Petrie’s Creek were deflated with the 1933 results, but none were defeated in spirit. The club regrouped and began the 1934 season with a fresh start. First, they changed the club’s name to the Bli Bli Rugby League Club. Second, they appointed an elite coach – James “Jim” Egglomesse, an A Grade player with a solid reputation for the game. Third, Jim agreed to play as a Captain-Coach and also encouraged some experienced A-grade players to join the Club and bolster the youthful side. James, one of the four sons of George and Lena Egglomesse of Nambour, was a hard working and well-regarded farmer, growing prize-winning fruit and working on the land with other local sugar cane farmers within the Maroochy District. His parents were South Sea Islanders from Santos Island.

The newly-named team comprised of Bli Bli men from several local farming families as well as friends from the nearby areas of Rosemount and Maroochydore. Many of the 1934 team included brothers, cousins and neighbours. Their success was based upon their local camaraderie, built up from working the cane fields and also playing summer sports like tennis cricket, swimming and lifesaving.

With their natural sporting abilities and A Grade captain-coach, the team managed to develop a football skill set that was well respected and admired. Mr. T.A. Atherton, a well-known local sports enthusiast and “retired” cane farmer living at Bli Bli was Club Patron.

In late March the NCRL competition included teams from Maleny, Mooloolah, Eudlo, Palmwoods, Montville, Nambour, Nambour Suburbs, newly named Bli Bli, Yandina and Eumundi.

Bli Bli’s first match was against Eudlo on Saturday 31st March, 1934. Both B Grade teams fielded a number of A grade players from other centres. The match was a scoreless draw with referee being Mr L Jamieson. The Bli Bli players had certainly stepped up a notch, with strong defense to hold out Eudlo.

In early May, the Bli Bli team was successful against Montville, winning the match 11 to 3. The Bli Bli team continued their good form by winning their June match against Eumundi with a score of 15 to nil. Mr. A.E. Lipscombe was the match referee. Players J Egglomesse, H Matthews and R Hegarty were the try scorers for Bli Bli, with goals kicked by J Egglomesse.

At last, the day of the finals had arrived. It was late September and the B Grade final preceded the A grade final at the Nambour

Showgrounds. The fighting spirit of Bli Bli was pitted against the daring speed of Nambour. On the day Bli Bli won with a score of 3-0. Mr. J. Maloney was the match referee.

The first Bli Bli Rugby League team had achieved the impossible! As with the Montville team of 1933, the Bli Bli Rugby League team secured all 3 cups on offer – the Chronicle Cup, the Charity Cup and the Courier Cup.

By early October, local euphoria continued to grow. The local community gathered in large numbers at the Bli Bli Public Hall to celebrate their champions. People came from Yandina and Nambour to enjoy the festivities. A fancy dress “Back to School” dance was held to the music of Miss Rhoda Bennett’s three-piece band. Mr. L. Gapper (the winger) acted as M.C. for the night. The NCRL President Mr. W. Darwen presented the team their trophies.

After the end of WWII, there was speculation about fielding another Bli Bli rugby league team. Was it Bli Bli’s beginners luck, last time around? Could a new team do as well as the 1934 team? In the 1946 line-up stood three of the four Hegarty brothers playing together for the first time – Dick, Bernie and Cec. The Bli Bli Rugby League team had matched the Montville Rugby League Club’s record of winning a dual premiership. The success of the 1934 team was repeated in 1946, but that’s another story.

LEADING YOU TO BETTER HEALTH

One of the great supporters of the Bli Bli Food Coop which we ran last year was Nana Jakeman. Many of you may remember her from her stall in the Old Church with all the great produce which was home grown together with her chutneys and dried fruits.

Nana grew up in central Thailand as one of eight children where she worked in the rice fields. Nana did not particularly like working in the fields as the rice stubble hurt her feet, so her father made some shoes out of bark so when she walked on the stubble it did not hurt her feet. It was in these early days that she learnt the art of cooking from her aunty and eventually she owned and operated a restaurant in Thailand. Nana also learnt the art of growing fresh fruit and vegetables so that she could be self sufficient and it was these early lessons which stand her in good stead today.

It was not all about food, Nana was a very good kick boxer so much so that she won 99 fights out of 100 that she competed in. Today Nana has taken up the more sedate sport of playing football (soccer) with the Bli Bli womens team, so watch out girls!

Nana thinks living in Bli Bli is pretty special, something we all take for granted is food and water security but for Nana having grown up in place where it is not secure as to quality or availability, now being able to grow her own fruit and vegetables with plenty of water, it is pretty good.

So why not call in to her farm gate and check out what she has in season and for sale at 2 Kirra Road (just past Parklakes 2 roundabout). Its all fresh and home grown. We need more people like Nana in our area producing and growing food, so lets support her. She is open 6 days a week (not Tuesday) or give her a call on 0448 880 668

“Busy people like Russell and Donna Muller love achieving great results.

... rowing coaching is their hobby, but not everyone is aware that they have also been successfully selling local real estate for the

past 24 years.”

There are many ways to give back and help grow a healthy community. When most people are sleeping, five days a week, Russell and Donna Muller are coaching local kids on the Maroochy River. Club president Russell Muller said, “one day we will produce an Olympic rower from right here in Bli Bli. In 2014 & 2015 the club achieved 2nd place and 3rd place respectively in the Rowing Queensland Premiership Regatta competing against 37 other clubs.”As dedicated volunteers Russell and head coach, Donna, call out instructions from their tinnies to these enthusiastic kids as they row up the Maroochy before the kids head off to school, and our volunteers dress up for another busy day at Ray White Bli Bli.

The Soccer Season is well and truly underway and Bli Bli United FC players are once again representing our region. The season started with the great news that funding for our next stage of field lighting had been secured. The project got underway quickly and the club have 2 full size fields lit for matches and training. In mid May junior teams played mid week "catch up" matches in the evening at Bli Bli for the first time.

In season 2016 the club has consolidated playing numbers in the junior ranks. This is despite losing some of our older teams to other competitions and sports. The shortfall was made up with a large influx of younger players which bodes well for the future of the club.

In all the club has 20 registered teams (the same as 2015) with 10 of these U06, U07 and U08. There are two each in the U09 and U10 age groups with the remaining six in the competitive divisions. The club is represented in "A" division in U11, U13 & U17 with "B" division teams in U11, U13 and U14. We wish them the best for the season and hope to see them all playing in finals in August.

The club have registered 6 senior teams in the competition this year - 2 Women's, 3 Men's and 1 over 35's team. This is great for the club and it's good to see so many adults getting out and having a run around.

This year we have been fortunate to be sponsored by White's IGA and Parklakes 2. They have provided much needed funding to allow the club to provide playing and training gear for our players. Support from local business is vital to the ongoing success of the club so if you're a local business looking to get your name out a bit more please get in touch with the club.

Over the long weekend in May representatives teams from the local competition competed in the State Titles at Redbank Plains. Many players from Bli Bli were chosen to represent their region and had some fantastic results. Of the 8 junior teams representing the Sunshine Coast North region, 4 finished the tournament as Champions and 3 as runner's up. A fantastic effort. Congratulations to all players involved. Congratulations also to the 4 Bli Bli players who were chosen to represent Queensland at the National Titles - Jesse Edwards, Matt Holley, Sheree Godfrey & Savannah Roy.

The season continues with home matches at the Parklakes fields on 25 June, 16th & 23rd August. The finals series starts the following week with some of those matches to be played at Bli Bli.
