As I am sure you are aware, NIK Software was bought up by Google a couple of years back and is now being given away free by them. The downside is that Google have announced that there will be no further development to the software.

This suite of programs is much used by many photographers and a petition has been started to try to persuade Google to continue to develop the software or to allow other developers to continue to update it.

The petition now stands at over 14,000 names, but more are needed before it is submitted.

Information about this petition, and how to sign up to it, can be found at

Zed Nelson HonFRPS will be visiting the Grosvenor Museum on Tues October 24th at 7.30pm to present “Gun Nation” - the anatomy of a long-term project. This is a photographic depiction of those in the USA, who, despite the terrible events that sometimes happen there, still support the principle of gun ownership. Nelson’s work has been exhibited at Tate Britain, the ICA, the National Portrait Gallery, and is in the permanent collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum. Tickets for this event are £10 including refreshments and will be on sale from

From 2007. A great print by a great printer.

A Splash of Yellow by Irene Froy MPAGB

An occasional series of innovative work in its time, which is still good today. Let us see your recent work in the masters of print.

EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE IF THEY SEND THEIR BEST PRINTS

PAGB Gold and Silver Medals will be awarded by our judges but most of the prize winners will be chosen by the Sponsors, who have donated the fabulous prizes and at least one will be voted for by those who attend the exhibition in London.

The judges and selectors will be at pains to ensure variety, diversity and as much new work as possible – prints which have not yet been widely exhibited already. Of course, we haven’t completely banned your “back catalogue” and the familiar names may well be successful but they can only have one print accepted into the exhibition and can only win one prize, so EVERYONE has a chance. That means YOU! Read all about it and download a copy of the rules and timetable at http://www.thepagb.org.uk/competitions/pagb-masters-of-print/
