FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS SS website address is: http://www.fairviewheightsss.eq.edu.au
We acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of this Land on which our school stands; where the Giabal and Jarowair peoples have performed age-old ceremonies of music, dance, storytelling and celebration. We acknowledge and pay respect to the Elders, past, present and emerging, for they hold the hopes, memories and traditions of Aboriginal, Torres Strait and South Sea Island peoples. We honour those who carved their footsteps in the sands of time.

PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
REPORT CARDS Report cards were emailed to parents/carers yesterday. If you did not receive you child/ren’s Report Card please contact the school today.
DATE CLAIMERS Check in the Date Claimers Section of this newsletter. There are some activities already planned for 2020. We hope that this prior information will help with your financial planning for 2020.
URGENT—STUDENT MOVEMENT Please inform the school office if your child/ren will not be attending Fairview Heights next year. This information is vital to classes and staffing arrangements for 2020. Please let the Office Staff know the school that your child/ren will be attending and the last date of attendance so that transfers can be prepared.
ENROLMENT NUMBERS FOR 2020 We would like to continue to increase our enrolment num-bers for 2020. Parents of our school are best promoters for WHAT’S GREAT AND UNIQUE ABOUT FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS. So please promote our school and be a cam-paigner for increasing our enrolment numbers. We are an enrolment managed school, however, because we are not at capacity for 2020, we are able to accept enrolments out of the catchment area, until our numbers reach capacity. So if you know any families who are living out of the catch-ment area for Fairview Heights and want to come to Fair-view, could you let them know, so we can make arrange-ments for enrolment procedures. We look forward to further enrolment enquiries.
2020 PREP ENROLMENT PLACES AVAILABLE - Children born 1 JULY 2014—30 JUNE 2015
CLASSES FOR 2020 Following the same practice as last year we will be texting the most important information that is required for parents regarding Class placements, that is the Class teacher’s name and the name of your child’s class only. This infor-mation will be sent out to parents/carers during the first week of the Christmas holidays that is the week of Decem-ber 16. Please be on the lookout for this information. So once again, your email and mobile phone number should be up to date.
FINAL DAYS Friday 13 December is the last school day for 2019. This day is a designated school day and we use it as a clean-up day. Students attending school on this day will assist with general clean up duties and help with the shifting of learning materials to different classrooms. If parents do not wish to send their child/ren on Friday 13 December we ac-cept this decision. School will conclude for 2019 at 3.00pm on Friday 13 December and resume on Tuesday 28 January 2020. Monday 27 January is a public holiday to celebrate Australia Day.
CONTRACT TEACHERS We have had a number of contract teachers at our school throughout this year. Julie Rush and Dennis Lockhardt are completing their contracts this year. Each of these teachers have enriched the lives of their students and contributed in a variety of ways to our Fairview Heights school community. We wish them well in their future endeavours One of our permanent teachers, Liesa Harris, is taking leave for 2020 to have her 2
nd child. We wish her all the best and
look forward to receiving news of the baby’s arrival. Leisa will be back with us in 2021. Phil Ryan our Instrumental Music Teacher is undertaking a new circuit in Toowoomba next year. FHSS Band has cer-tainly grown in confidence and skill throughout the year be-cause of the quality of Phil’s teaching and guidance. Our Speech Therapist Sarah Megram is moving to Brisbane and our Guidance Officer Sharon Robertson is transferring to Toowoomba West Special School. Each of these staff mem-bers will be replaced in 2020 and their replacements will be introduced in our first Newsletter. I would like to thank these two ladies who have each given amazing support to ensure that our Students learning has been enriched.
P&C MEETING The first meeting for 2020 will be a General Meeting for the Fairview Heights State School on Tuesday 11 Febru-ary. Our Annual General Meeting next year will be our second meeting for the year, which will be held on Tues-day 10 March at 7.00pm. You are all very welcome to at-tend and I encourage you to mark these dates in your diary for 2020.
THANK YOU I would like to take this opportunity to thank our hard working P&C members. Barbara Wyatt and her executive team have provided great leadership for our school community and I thank them for their diligence, enthusiasm and loyalty throughout the school year. To the members of the P&C who have regularly attended meetings we thank you for your sup-port. New members are needed next year, so come along, you are very welcome.
Thank you to Monica Collins, Wendy Gall and their small band of tuckshop volunteers for providing our children with tuckshop throughout the year. Students, parents and Staff are appreciative of your efforts.
Thank you to all of my Fairview Staff for their wonderful work ethic throughout the year. Every staff member at Fairview is valued for the amount of time and effort that they give at all times to their given role. Each staff member has an integral role in making our school a GREAT SCHOOL. Con-gratulations!
2020 MEET THE TEACHER & BRING BOOKS AFTERNOON You are invited to bring your child/ren's School Re-sources to your child/ren's classroom where you will be
