Principal Christine Robinson
Dear Parents/Carers,
School Review
There has been a real buzz in the school this week with the addition of the review panel. The panel includes two principals;
the principal of Tyers and the vice principal of Lowanna, my boss and an external reviewer. Over the next few weeks the
panel members will return to the school, with the final review day being the 19th of June. I must thank Megan Nelson, our
school council president, for her work during this process (it’s not easy to listen to all the ‘school’ talk and follow what we
are saying).
There have been two opportunities for our students to have formal conversations with the review panel where the students
were able to share their opinions on our school.
This week and next week the staff have an opportunity to share their thoughts on how the school is going, show how they
plan and be observed while teaching.
Next Tuesday from 8.45am till 9.30am our parent community have an opportunity to be part of a parent focus group.
Unfortunately the reviewer only has time to speak to one parent group of up to 10 parents. The only fair way to determine
which parents are a part of the group is to go with ‘first in, best dressed’. If you are interested in being a part of the parent
focus group please contact Jo at the office.
Photographs
Taking photos at school is a really tricky thing to do as we have several students who are not allowed to be photographed
(even in the background). As assembly is a time when parents are more likely to take photos, to ensure we respect the re-
quest of these parents, we are asking parents to only take photos of their child after assembly, without other students in the
photo, not when they are standing up the front (either sharing or being presented with a certificate).
Grade F/1 and Grade 1/2 Classrooms
I spoke to the builders today; the hope is that we will be able to return our students back to their classrooms next Friday.
We shouldn’t have heaps and heaps to move back, however if you have a couple of minutes on Friday morning and you’d
like to carry some equipment back down, I’m sure the teachers would love some help.
Walk to School Day
I must say I really enjoyed being a part of the Walk to School Day event yesterday. It was great to actually get out into the
community to see more of Newborough than just where I drive each day. Thank you to the staff who set off early to meet
the students to walk to school. I know I had a lovely chat on the way back with the students we were walking with.
Have a great weekend,
Christine

Regular attendance at school is very important for your child's learning and social development. Of course, sometimes children are sick and need to stay home to get well - and that's OK! But other than that, children need to be at school as much as possible to ensure the BEST opportunity for learning. If your child is absent please enter their absence via the Compass parent portal or alternatively call the school on 51271448 as soon as possible.
