Sixth Form Open Evening

On Thursday 24th November we held our Sixth Form Open Evening. Departments were based in the Craig Foster

Building and talks were held in the School Hall. Numbers of attendees were very high. Early application is

advised as we expect to fill our numbers once again.

Christmas is coming!

Christmas Lunch for students will be on Thursday 15th December. In order to cater for the right numbers, a

different system will operate this year.

Two weeks before the 15th, students will be asked to sign whether they will be having Christmas Lunch. On

Wednesday 14th, students who signed up will be given a ticket. This ticket has no value, they will still have to

use their credit on their fingerprint accounts. However, the ticket will need to be handed in on the 15th as they

queue up for Christmas Lunch.

The Servery in the 6th Form Common Room will NOT be open on the 15th.

All students will need to pay using the cashless system. No cash will be taken in the Canteen.

Students not wishing to have Christmas Lunch will still be able to purchase, pizzas, paninis, pasta pots etc

from the Snack Hatch.

Non-Uniform

At Oaks Park, the entire school got involved in raising money for Children in Need by coming to school in

non-uniform and paying their £1.50 towards the cause. We had a great turnout and raised a huge sum of

money through the contributions and donations for Non-Uniform. Non-Uniform day has always been a

popular event for the students at Oaks Park and it made the day that much more excitable and

enjoyable.

Penny Wallets In order to raise money for Children In Need, penny

wallets were given out and each form group competed

in collecting the largest sum of money in pennies. The

form group that donated the most amount of money

won a prize. This Year the winner was 7N who raised an

extraordinary £22.00! Big congratulations to them and

thank you to all students who participated in this

activity and donated generously!

Photo Booth The photo booth was run by Elise Thompson and Jemima

Benjamin as well as a number of the new Prefects.

Students were able to use a number of the props and

costumes provided by the Drama Department and the

Senior Prefect Team to take funny pictures with their

friends. The cost for this was £1.50 for one print and

£2.50 for two. We had a great turn out and raised a great

amount of money. As well as this, we had great fun and

the students that got involved had a great time striking

poses and pulling quirky faces for the camera. Thanks

to everyone who got involved and we hope your pictures

are funny and hilarious.

Who kidnapped Geoff

the Chef? The younger Years were sent off around the

school on a quest to solve the mystery of

who kidnapped Geoff (Our Head Chef). After

paying their fee of 50p, the students went

around in teams and solved the puzzles and

riddles that were dotted around the school

upon walls and doors. Each clue led the

students to another. This took place during

lunchtime on Thursday 17th and the turnout

was incredible. It was amazing to see the

capability of all the students involved, the

clues were not easy! We raised a great sum

of £42.50. Thank you to all the students that

got involved. We hope you had a great time

finding the kidnapper.

The Bake Sale was a success; the Senior Prefect Team

sold 450 cupcakes and cookies alongside the helpful

Prefect volunteers. From this we generated roughly

£380.90 for Children in Need and were sold out within 45

minutes! The turnout and support was brilliant with

students beginning to queue up before the bake sale

was even set up! The rapid sell out was an unexpected

delight and without the exceptional participation from

Oaks Park Students, we could not have met our goal.

Thank you to everyone involved including the hungry

bellies that consumed the delicious cakes.

Children in Need

Many of our own Teachers and 6th Form Students volunteered to have

their legs waxed and the pictures to the right speak for themselves. We

would like to thank the following teachers who took part in this event;

Mr Webber, Mr Green, Mr Wood, Mr Fletcher and Mr Cohen alongside a

few of our Sixth Form Students like Emre Misiri, Luke Dodd, Ravi Rawal

and Neil Patel. We had an amazing participating audience who counted

down the seconds until the wax strips were ripped off with many

photographs taken. One thing was for sure – as we moved along the

queue of teachers to be waxed, each one had a look of despair and

shock on their faces as they looked at the cherry blossom scented wax

strips coming towards them.

Guess how many sweets in a sweet jar was one of the many activities

that occurred during the week of Children in Need. We had an excellent

turnout from students ranging from year 7 up to Sixth Form students and

we managed to raise over £40. There was a wide variety of guesses from

58 sweets all the way to 1146 sweets in the jar, while the actual figure

was 276 sweets in total. Although many participants came so close to the

real amount, luckily one individual in year 13 guessed correctly and won

the entire jar – Nick Hawthorne! Thank you to everyone who contributed

to the events and we hope all of you who guessed had lots of fun!
