LAVINGTON
public school
A message from our Principal… …and just like that we have finished 4 weeks of 2020! Can you believe that! How time flies! During the first two weeks of 2020, staff at Lavington Public School had an explicit focus on developing authentic relationships with their new class. It is an incredibly busy time of year, as new and familiar faces get themselves orientated with school life for a new year. A number of staff have changed roles for this year, but I can report all of our students and staff have made an incredibly settled and focused start to our school year. It was great to be a part of our new School Leader’s Induction for 2020. This included School Captains and Vice Captains, Student Representative Council and House Captains. What an awesome opportunity these boys and girls will receive this year. After passionately declaring their leadership pledges to the student body, I am eager to see the impact they will all have on our school. The last week or so have focused on gathering as much information from our students as we can in terms of their literacy and numeracy ‘starting points’ for the year. Now all the dust has settled, we can move ahead, firing on all cylinders with routines and expectations established across our school. Our new staff and students have all transitioned in beautifully! I’m excited for the possibilities of this year and how many opportunities will be put in front of our students to take with both hands. A quick message re: the gate in our K – 2 section of the school. Due to student safety and supervision requirements, it is required to be closed in the mornings. All students are required to come in via our main entrance where supervision is provided. Upon the first bell, K – 2 students are welcome to play in the K – 2 section of the school, where a teacher will then be in attendance. The same will be the case in the afternoons, with the gate only being open close to 3pm. Hope you have had a fantastic start to the school year and I’ll be seeing you soon! Brett

A huge Thank you
to Danny Wright for building our
‘Hands On Learning’ shed and to
Jason Clarke for supplying the
windows and other materials.
On Tuesday our K-6 students had the
opportunity to attend a Young

A Fish Story was an imaginative
performance for children about solving
problems, creative play and of course
words which guaranteed lots of laughter.
Congratulations to Ellie Lyons who was selected in the Albury Zone PSSA
Girls Basketball team. She now attends the Riverina trials at the Lauren
Jackson Stadium in March.
We wish Ellie all the best.
Mitchell Clarke, Finn McDonnell and Isaac Felder are off to Deniliquin on

All the best to these keen and talented cricketers.

raising ideas and nominate projects / resources for those funds.

usually finish around 9pm.
New members are always welcome! A small membership fee of 50c is payable at the AGM.
