  • Israel & the Nations

How international votes now affect Jesus' judgment of the nations

  • Don't take my word for it!The Bereans were more fair-minded than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness, and searched the Scriptures daily to find out whether these things were so. Acts 17:11

  • 1 Peter 5:8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour

  • Genesis 12: Blessing & Curse

  • UN saysPalestineis a state.

    What's the big deal?

  • Joel 3:1-2 (Joel 4:1-2 CJB)For then, at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Yhudah and Yerushalayim, I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Yhoshafat [Adonai judges]. I will enter into judgment there for my people, my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations; then they divided my land.

  • Matthew 25:31-46 (CJB)When the Son of Man comes in his glory, accompanied by all the angels, he will sit on his glorious throne. All the nations will be assembled before him, and he will separate people one from another as a shepherd separates sheep from goats. The sheep he will place at his right hand and the goats at his left.

  • All nations pas Strong's G3956individually each, every, any, all, the whole, everyone, all things, everything ethnos Strong's G14841) a multitude associated or living together a company, troop, swarm2) a multitude of individuals of the same nature or genus the human family3) a tribe, nation, people group4) in the OT, foreign nations not worshipping the true God, pagans, Gentiles

  • Matthew 25:31-46 (CJB)Then the King will say to those on his right, Come, you whom my Father has blessed, take your inheritance, the Kingdom prepared for you from the founding of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you made me your guest, I needed clothes and you provided them, I was sick and you took care of me, I was in prison and you visited me.

  • Matthew 25:31-46 (CJB)Then the people who have done what God wants will reply, Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? When did we see you a stranger and make you our guest, or needing clothes and provide them? When did we see you sick or in prison, and visit you? The King will say to them, Yes! I tell you that whenever you did these things for one of the least important of these brothers of mine, you did them for me!

  • Brothers of mine adelphos Strong's G801) a brother, whether born of the same two parents or only of the same father or mother2) having the same national ancestor, belonging to the same people, or countryman3) any fellow or man4) a fellow believer, united to another by the bond of affection

Rejected by Arabs. 1949 Israel's UN membership approved 37-12 2012 Palestine recognized as non-member observer state (138-9) with East Jerusalem as capital

  • The hope of intercession

  • Psalm 2:10-12 (CJB) Kings, be wise; be warned, you judges of the earth. Serve ADONAI with fear; rejoice, but with trembling. Kiss the son, lest he be angry, and you perish along the way, when suddenly his anger blazes. How blessed are all who take refuge in him.

  • Zechariah 9:5-7 (NIV)Gaza will lose her king and Ashkelon will be deserted.A mongrel people will occupy Ashdod, and I will put an end to the pride of the Philistines. I will take the blood from their mouths, the forbidden food from between their teeth. Those who are left will belong to our God and become a clan in Judah, and Ekron will be like the Jebusites.

  • Jeremiah 12:14-16 (CJB)Here is what ADONAI says: As for all my evil neighbors who encroach on the heritage I gave to my people Israel as their possession, I will uproot them from their own land, and I will uproot Yhudah from among them. Then, after I have uprooted them, I will take pity on them again and bring them back, each one to his inheritance, each one to his own land.

  • Jeremiah 12:14-16 (CJB)Then, if they will carefully learn my peoples ways, swearing by my name, As ADONAI lives, just as they taught my people to swear by Baal, they will be built up among my people. But if they refuse to listen, then I will uproot that nation, uproot and destroy it, says ADONAI.

  • Psalm 33:10-12 (CJB)ADONAI brings to nothing the plans of nations, he foils the plans of the peoples. But the counsel of ADONAI stands forever, his hearts plans are for all generations. How blessed is the nation whose God is ADONAI, the people he chose as his heritage!

  • Joel 3 & Acts 2Adonai says: In the Last Days, I will pour out from my Spirit upon everyone. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams. Even on my slaves, both men and women, will I pour out from my Spirit in those days; and they will prophesy.

  • Joel 3 & Acts 2I will perform miracles in the sky above and signs on the earth below blood, fire and thick smoke. The sun will become dark and the moon blood before the great and fearful Day of Adonai comes.

And then, whoever calls on the name of Adonai will be saved.

  • This really is a word for intercessors... for anyone who cares for their nation.

It will start out as a history lesson on the modern state of Israel and what the nations have done, are doing and will probably do as we await Messiah's return. It is easy to research from the comfort of your home. Don't just double check the Scriptural stuff but also the historical stuff.

I realize history has at least two points of view. There are many who dispute how and why the nation of Israel was reestablished

For us, we must view and decipher history through the prism of the Word of God. The Bible is our decoder, if you will, to understanding world events.1 Peter is very much about the Last Days. What I want us to hear is that in addition to being vigilant, we must be sober.

I see two main groups in the Body: Ignorance and lack of vigilance.Vigilance with hysteria (Facebook)

Let us be good stewards of information. Check your sources. Don't throw around unsubstantiated accusations. Also, these things must happen, ultimately. We know so we can warn and prove the scriptures, God's faithfulness. There's a T-shirt I've seen in Israel... This is one version. It makes me smile but I think it's a bit arrogant to wear. But it speaks truth... empires have come and gone... and most fall after poking God in the eye by offending Israel.

It's a record of Genesis 12 curse fulfilled

In May 2011, President Obama told Israel to go back to the pre-1967 lines. Palestinian Authority Mahmoud Abbas cited this as the reason for pursing for full United Nations member state status in 2011. That bid failed in the UN Security Council.

In November 2012, Abbas again asked UN for an upgraded status, this time non-member observer state. The resolution passed 138-9 in November 2012.

What does this all mean historically, Biblically and prophetically? Background to the significance of Obama's public pronouncement that Israel should go back to the 1967 lines. Why should this pronouncement by our national leader raise an alarm in your spirit?

Land promised to two peoplesBalfour Declaration 1917 UK Foreign Sec.McMahonHussein Correspondence 1915 UK diplomat to Sharif (prince) of Mecca motivated Arabs into WWI against Turkish Ottoman Empire

Ultimately, Arabs given TransJordan... remainder of Mandate controlled by Britain.British Mandate given control of Mandatory Palestine in 1920sArabs resist Balfour Declaration. On and off fighting, massacres, etc. (Appointment in Jerusalem by Derek & Lydia Prince covers some of this)British announce after World War II that they will no longer control.UN tries to resolve conflict Partition Plan Nov. 29, 1947 rejected by ArabsMay 14, 1948 Israel declares independenceFull war breaks out Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Lebanon Why West Bank? West Bank of Jordan River, west side of Kingdom of Jordan. What Biblical names for West Bank? Judea and Samaria.

Jerusalem divided. What is called East Jerusalem including all of Old City, Temple Mount, Western Wall, Mount of Olives, largest Jewish cemetery in the world was the portion that stayed in Jordan's hands at cease fire.

Not official borders but cease-fire lines.June 1967 tensions build over several issues. Arab nations prepare to attack Israel. June 5 Israel launches surprise bombing raids against Egyptian air-fieldsSix days later Israel wins, taking land from Syria, Jordan and Egypt and reunited Jerusalem, retaking Temple Mount, Old City, Western Wall.

Yom Kippur War 1973 nations try to take territory back.Eventually trades Sinai for peace with Egypt, Jordan agrees to not ask for West Bank back (1974, 1988), Golan and Gaza remain in Israeli hands. Here we have it today.

Pulled out of Gaza in 2005

Golan Heights is marked separate on international maps but it functionally Israel. So when Obama says back to the 1967 lines, he means the 1949 lines... cease fire lines

No Golan HeightsNo settlements in West Bank (some up for negotiation)No Gaza Strip (as already disengaged)

Most alarming to me, no Old City JerusalemLet's talk about Jerusalem

Shifting of borders from 1947 to today

Obama's demand that Israel return to the pre-1967 lines was spiritually explosive, in my opinion. Why? Because he in essence endorsed the dividing of Jerusalem.

The city would roughly be divided like this, as it was pre-1967.God is clear that he will judge the nations on how they treated Israel whom they scattered and because they divided MY land.

Israel is God's land... and the nations who fail to recognize will pay dearly.

Jesus expands on the point in Matthew 25Because of Joel 3, I believe ethnos here is definitions 3 and 4 because in Joel 3, nations is goyim, which we know is Hebrew for nations. The passage goes on...

eternal punishment for those who did not treat the Messiah's brothers' with kindness.

This verse was always presented to me as the Christian brothers... and it applies. We are adopted sons, joint heirs with Messiah.

But the first natural brothers. Here, the first definition is first. Jesus is talking about the nations... so he must be talking about his national brothers, Israel, the Jews.

It's not that the others don't apply, but I see his DNA brothers applying first and foremost. Again, not an issue of partiality but of priority. So, in November 29, 2012, the United Nations voted to recognize Palestine as a nonmember observer state (on par with the Vatican).

Let me read you part of what this resolution says...(PDF print out)

And it passed 138-9 with 41 abstentions (5 absent)

Against: Canada, Czech Republic, Israel, Marshall Islands, Micronesia (Federated States of), Nauru, Palau, Panama, United States. So back in Joel 3...

We see the Valley of Judgment, also called Valley of Decision

Intercessor and Israel advocate Tomas Sandell, European Coalition for Israel, said, Was this vote the FINAL decision that sets Joel 3 and Matthew 25 judgment outcome. NO

Did this vote matter? YesSandell: until the formation of the League of Nations in 1919, no entity that represented all the nations of the earth. Since WWI, nations have had several opportunities to publicly record a vote on the issue of Israel. Last November's most recent.1949 9 abstentions2012 10 abstentions

There is still time to intercede for each nation to repent on dividing land Mexico recently voted for dividing Jerusalem (2012). US votes with Israel in UN but says otherwise in other situations. So, we have the United States president endorsing the division of Jerusalem... making us goat nation candidate

We have 138 nations on record ready to divide Jerusalem (41 who haven't been willing to be on record either way).

Sodom was doomed because of their sin... and Abraham cried out on its behalf and negotiates with God, who was willing to save it for 10 righteous. And so we have our authority, as sons of Abraham (Romans 4, Galatians 3), to negotiate with God for our nations.

Some verses to pray into...Psalm 2 is absolutely apropos here, but the hope is at the end....Hope for the Palestinian people to be a clan of Judah...

Do we know what Palestine is called Palestine?

After crushing the Bar Kokhba revolt, the Roman Emperor Hadrian applied the name Syria Palestina to the entire region, that had formerly included Iudaea Province. Hadrian probably chose a name that revived the ancient name of Philistia (Palestine), combining it with that of the neighboring province of Syria, in an attempt to suppress Jewish connection to the land.More hope for all of Israel's neighborsI have verified these dates myself using the NASA website and a Hebrew calendar.

I have also verified the tetrads of 1949/1950 and 1967/1968 as well that a tetrad on the LORD's feasts days will not happen again this century.

The tetrad of lunar eclipses on Passover/Sukkot has only happened 7 times since time of Christ. This will be number 8.
