The Tanach

1) Torah (1312 BCE) – message given to Moses by G-d at Mt Sinai

• Zion mentioned 154 times

• Borders of Israel described in 5 separate places in Tanach.

• A land called ‘Filastin’ referred to in the classic commentary of Abu at-Tabari (903 CE)

• First reference to Israel as ‘Palestine’ was by Greek historian Herodotus in 500 BCE.

The City of G-d…• 621 CE – Isra and Mira’aj

prophecy. Change of Qibla to Mecca.

• Vision of the Masjid al-Aqsa (‘The Farthest Mosque’)

• 622 CE – Mohammed offers to make pact with Jewish community of Medina. They reject it.

• [Quran 2:15] ”And from wherever you come forth, turn thy face towards the Sacred Mosque; for that is indeed the truth from thy Lord. And Allah is not unmindful of what you do.”

[Quran 17:1] “And after him We said to the children of Israel, ‘Dwell ye in the land; and when the time of the promise of the latter days comes, We shall bring you together out of various peoples.’ The principle that Muslims must not give the Jews security unless they convert to Islam or pay the jizya directly contradicts Hussaini's assertion that they were to possess the land forever. A people that may never have security unless it converts or submits to the rule of others cannot have a land to rule by itself. The idea that "good Jews" are those who convert to Islam is deeply rooted in Islamic tradition.

- Muhammad ibn Jarir at-Tabari (838-923),

“I was speaking to Abu Ammar (Arafat) when he suddenly had to leave the room to take a call. When Brother Ammar returned, he was pale-faced and trembling. ‘What is the matter?’ I asked him. ‘That was Crown Prince Abdullah on behalf of the Arab League. All he said was ‘Don’t forfeit Jerusalem, Abu Ammar, or you forfeit your very life.”

- Saeb Erekat, Chief Palestinian negotiator at Camp David, 2001.

killing scores of innocent Palestinians

- If the Fence is racially segregationist, why didn’t Israel construct it in 1967? In 1994? Why didn’t Israel simply push all Palestinians across the Jordan in 1967?

- Why has the Israeli Supreme Court ruled over 100 times that the fence must be moved, sometimes for the sake of as little as 12 inches?

- Why aren’t the same accusations levelled against other countries?
