Title: SC2/WG2 Proposed Modification to Program of Work Source: Project Editor/Convener Distribution: SC2 and SC2/WG2 members and liaison organizations SC 2/WG2 seeks the SC2’s and subsequently JTC 1’s endorsement for adding the following subproject to its Program of Work. Project No.: JTC 1.02.10646.00.06 (ISO/IEC 10646/Amd. 6) Title: Information technology -- Universal Multiple-Octet Coded Character Set (UCS) – Scope: Incorporate 105 characters for Imperial Aramaic (31), Inscriptional Parthian, Inscriptional Pahlavi (57), Coomon Indic Number Forms, Bengali Ganda Mark, 2 Phoenician numbers and 4 Tibetan religious symbols. Rationale: The proposed scripts and characters are based on contributions from several national body, liaison organizations and other expert linguists. These proposed characters were approved at meeting 51 of SC2/WG2 held in September 2007 by Resolution M51.20. Document N3356 contains the list of these additional scripts and characters for this amendment. Here is a summary with proposed code points:

In version of the document, the names and code positions are shownas currently approved by WG2 for the text of the forthcoming ballot. The purpose of this document is to allow WG2delegates to review the character names, code positions and glyphs and notify the editor if they differ from what wasapproved in the meeting. A separate ballot document will be submitted by the project editor after the meeting.Manner of PresentationThe character names and code points shown are the same for Unicode and ISO/IEC 10646. ISO character name commentsand Annex P annotation “*”, are suppressed in this document. Instead, the full annotations and cross references from theUnicode names list are provided. In this document, the new characters are not shown in the context of the existing characters. The existing characters willbe shown in the final ballot document or character names list. The occasional use of the word <reserved> in this draft isan artifact of the production process and should be ignored. Information about the status of a character proposal in WG2 and UTC as well as other information about the proposal ispresented in a marginal note. Where a proposal refers to characters that are not in a single range, the information isrepeated as necessary. A series of $$$$ indicates the presence of a issue that needs to be resolved as part ofsynchronization.
