TOURSAfternoon walking tours will be led by local stakeholders. All delegates can pick one tour from the options below, your delegate badge will indicate which tour you have been allocated to. If you have not been allocated a tour, but would like to go on one, please contact staff at the reception desk.
Tours will leave from the registration desk at 13:45. All tours are on foot, please wear sensible footwear. Please have your coats and bags ready as we will not be returning to Wood Lane Studios.
Old Oak Common is the UK’s largest regeneration programme to deliver new mixed development the equivalent of building a new town on brownfield land in central London. This tour of the Opportunity Area will look at the area as a whole, covering Old Oak Common Lane, Wormwood Scrubs, Scrubs Lane and Willesden Junction. Hear from OPDC and TfL about how these areas will be transformed following the catalytic affect of Crossrail and HS2.
This tour will begin at Willesden Junction following a short coach journey from the conference venue and will end at North Acton.

Covering the four major sites in this Opportunity Area, this tour will examine the Imperial West Campus, the BBC television centre, the former Marks and Spencer site to the north of Westfield and Westfield itself. With the regeneration of White City already well underway, this tour provides an update on the progress of key developments as well as the new opportunities which this reinvigorated urban quarter has to offer.
This tour is entirely on foot and will end at Wood Lane Station.

Victoria Hills Interim Chief Executive, Old Oak & Park Royal Development Corporation
A chartered town planner, Victoria has 20 years’ experience in consultancy, local and regional government. Previously Head of Programme in the Mayor’s 2012 City Operations team, Victoria became Head of Transport in 2012 with responsibility for delivering the Mayor’s Transport Strategy, 2020 Vision and Infrastructure Plan. In 2014 Victoria was asked to set up the Mayor’s new Old Oak and Park Royal Mayoral Development Corporation. Subsequently appointed Interim CEO, she leads London’s largest regeneration project to maximise the benefits from the HS2, Great West Main Line and Crossrail super-hub stations.
Mike Cummings
Regional Director for Park Royal, SEGRO
Mike is the Regional Director for SEGRO’s Park Royal & London portfolio comprising 6.7m sq ft across 26 estates with 289 customers representing 19.8% by value of SEGRO’S portfolio. Historically concentrated in Park Royal and around Heathrow, the portfolio has recently expanded its urban logistics and light industrial footprint in North and East London. Mike is a Chartered Surveyor with over 25 years’ real estate experience in commerce and business. @SEGROplc
Simon Earles
Planning & Surface Access Director, Heathrow Airport Limited
Simon is an airport planning and surface access professional, with 20 years experience developing and delivering planning and transport strategy in the public, private and corporate sector. Simon joined the aviation sector in 2000, and working at London Luton Airport led its master planning, surface access and corporate social responsibility team, helping to secure national policy support for a significant capacity increase at the airport and led the consultation on the draft airport master plan and preparation of a major planning application.

Sarah Ebanja Advisor, QPR (and formerly Chief Executive of Islington Council)
Sarah is a member of the QPR new-stadium project team, and in this role is an advisor on matters relating to social, economic and community benefits encompassing affordable housing and making Old Oak a place where the club and its residents will call home, enjoy living and which will flourish. At a local level, Sarah’s roles have included deputy chief executive of Islington Council, interim managing director of Hackney Council and assistant director of Education & Finance at Lewisham Council.
Professor David Gann CBE
Vice-President (Development & Innovation), Imperial College
David is Vice President for Development and Innovation at Imperial College London and holds the Chair in Innovation and Technology Management at Imperial College Business School and the Department of Civil & Environmental Engineering. His research focuses on innovation in the digital economy, new business models and innovation strategy in technology firms. He has worked extensively on innovation in construction in the built environment and was Group Innovation Executive at Laing O’Rourke in 2007-2011. @ImperialCollege

Peter Murray
Chairman, New London Architecture
Peter serves as the Chairman of NLA. Trained as an architect, he was an editor of Building Design and RIBA Journal before starting Blueprint in 1983. He has curated a number of major architectural exhibitions and is Chairman of the communications consultancy Wordsearch. He is founder of both NLA and the London Festival of Architecture and is author of various architectural books including “The saga of Sydney Opera House” and “A passion to build”. He is a visiting professor of IE University in Madrid and Hon. Sec. of the Bedford Park Society. @PGSMurray
Paul Monaghan
Director, AHMM
Paul’s work is focused on redefining the built environment in both the UK and abroad. Since he co-founded Allford Hall Monaghan Morris in 1989, his projects have been noted for outstanding design, collaborative creativity, applied technology and sustainability and recognised with national and international awards. His current projects include the Television Centre Masterplan, the new Scotland Yard for the Metropolitan Police, Blossom Street in east London, residential development at Elephant and Castle, and Ruskin Square in Croydon. Westminster Academy and Kentish Town Health Centre were shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize. He is also a visiting professor at the Bartlett and Sheffield schools of architecture. @AHMMArchitects
William McKee
Planning Committee Chairman, Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation
William is Chair of the Old Oak & Park Royal Development Corporation Planning Committee and a member of the main Board. His other appointments include: Chair of the Mayor of London’s Outer London Commission; Chief Executive of Accessible Retail; Joint Managing Director of property consultants LAPAR; independent member of the North West Surrey Care Commissioning Group Governing Body; Director and Trustee of the Rambert Dance Company; and Chair of the Advisory Board of Southampton University Business School.

Laura Kidd Head of Architecture, HS2
Laura is a chartered architect with nearly twenty years specialising in station and rail architecture and has played a part in the successful delivery of several of the most recent prestigious main line rail and underground station projects, including the Thameslink Programme, HS1 and the Jubilee Line Extension. Laura is now Head of Architecture for HS2 and in this role is responsible for setting the design aspirations and requirements for the new HS2 stations, depots and auxiliary buildings. @HS2ltd

Fred Pilbrow Senior Partner, Pilbrow & Partners
Fred, with 25 years of practice as a qualified Architect, has been responsible for designing of a number of significant London projects. His experience includes residential developments in Greenwich, Westminster, and part of Masterplans at Earls Court and Shepherd’s Bush. Prior to Pilbrow & Partners, Fred was responsible for designing the Heron Tower and the Francis Crick Institute at St Pancras. Fred is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects and registered with the Architects Registration Board UK. @fpilbrow
Alistair Shaw Managing Director of Television Centre, Stanhope
Alistair joined Stanhope in 2014 as Managing Director of Television Centre. Alistair’s main focus is overseeing and leading the team to deliver this exciting project. He is responsible for its commercial success and has a particular interest in place-making and the successful integration of a vibrant mix of uses. Before joining the Television Centre team Alistair headed up retail regeneration projects at Stanhope, including the redevelopment of 12 acres of Hereford City Centre. Prior to joining Stanhope Alistair was Chief Development Officer at Battersea Power Station.
Alexandra Reitman
Programme Manager, Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation/Principal Strategic Planner and Urban Designer, Greater London Authority
A graduate of MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning, Alexandra has practiced planning and urban design in London for over ten years. As Principal Strategic Planner at the GLA, she has led on the development of the White City OAPF and related planning applications including Imperial West, Westfield, M&S and BBC Television Centre, as well as major schemes elsewhere in London including the Crick Institute and Eileen House. She is currently seconded to the Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation as Programme Manager. @LDN_Gov
Anette Simpson
Director of Planning and Development for Earls Court, Capco
Anette worked in the development industry for over 15 years prior to joining Capco in 2010 to lead the Earls Court planning team. She has a breadth of experience in managing large complex residential-led regeneration projects, through the planning and development process, with a particular interest in design and in delivering sustainable development. Anette is leading the planning and development of the Earls Court Masterplan.
Alex Williams
Director of Borough Planning, Transport for London
Alex’s Directorate is within the TfL Group Planning area where he is responsible for two main functions: Land Use Planning for applications that are referable to the Mayor, and managing the relationship with the boroughs, including all of the sub regional panels. Prior to starting at TfL he worked for 18 years in the London boroughs, as Assistant Director of the Culture & Environment Directorate at the LB Camden from 2003 to 2007 and as Director of Transport & Planning Policy at the LB Ealing from 2000 to 2003. @TfL
