CTE - Administration of Justice Is Administration of Justice for YOU? From CSI and Hawaii Five-O to Rescue Me and Judge Judy, there are as many careers in Administration of Justice (AOJ) as there are TV shows about them. Interested in forensics? Law enforcement or public safety? Corrections or courts? Our AOJ program offers certificates and degrees to prepare you for an interesting career in any number of fields related to the prevention, detection and management of crime or criminal offenders. Most entry-level jobs in public safety require a high school diploma or equivalent but you will be competing with many others for these jobs. The more you can do to enhance your skills and knowledge, the better you will do on civil service tests, background investigations and interviews. Many careers can be realized with a Certificate of Achievement, such as security and loss prevention. The full AOJ program can prepare you for the academies, or further educational goals and careers requiring higher degrees, such as public administration. Students should be aware that prior felony or any misdemeanor or felony domestic violence convictions, and some psychological holds, are disqualifying. TROs (Temporary Restraining Orders) can also be a disqualifier. Prior substance abuse (including marijuana) and other disqualifiers may apply in specific positions related to law enforcement or forensics. What education or certificates are available under Administration of Justice? The AOJ curriculum is designed to give students a well-balanced introduction to a professional career in almost every area of law and corrections. For students who choose to work toward a bachelor’s degree, see your counselor or consult the four-year college or university catalog. Certificate of Achievement Any student who chooses to complete only the courses required for a specific area of interest qualifies for a Certificate of Achievement, where available. An official request must be filed with the Admissions and Records Office prior to the deadline as stated in the Academic Calendar.
