PreventionFirstadvanceseffortstopromotehealthybehaviorsandpreventsubstancemisuseineverycommunitythroughavarietyofevidence-basedandcollaborativeapproach-es,includingtraining,support,andpublicawareness.

EFFECTIVE GROUP FACILITATIONTheabilitytoleadgroupsisessentialtoawidevarietyofpositionswithinthepreventionfield.Thistwo-daytrainingbuildsbasicfacilitationskillsofindividualsworkingwithyouthand/oradultgroups.Bytheendofthetraining,participantswillunderstandthestagesofgroupdevelopmentandthemajorissuesassociatedwiththem,aswellashowtoidentifyanduseinterventionsthatwillinfluencegroupbehavior.Thisisaninteractivetrainingthatwillincorporatetheoryintodiscussions,groupinteraction,roleplayingandpractice,andappliedlearning.

ConductingaMarijuanaEnvironmentalScanisanonlinetrainingforCSUPSProvidersthatrelaystheinformationandtoolsneededtoconductamarijuanaenvironmentalscanwithintheirservicearea.Thescanwillassistprovidersinidentifyinglocalretailersthatsellmarijuanaparaphernalia.Participantswillalsobeprovidedwithinformationandtoolsthatwillallowthemtocreateandimplementaplantoeducatemerchantsoftheimportanceofnotsellingmarijuanaparaphernaliatopeopleundertheageof21.ThiscoursehasbeenupdatedtoalignwithFY21deliverablesandtheIllinoisCannabisRegulationandTaxAct(June2020).

TOO GOOD FOR DRUGS HIGH SCHOOL FACILITATOR TRAINING ThistrainingwillpreparefacilitatorstoimplementtheTooGoodforDrugsHighSchoolRevisedprogramsuccessfully.TheTooGoodforDrugsHighSchoolprogrampreparesstudentswiththeskillstheyneedforacademic,social,andlifesuccess.Participantswillreviewtheinteractivegamesandactivitiesthatprovidepracticalguidanceondatingandrelationships,buildinghealthyfriendships,andrefusingnegativepeerinfluence.ThetrainingwillalsoprovideareviewoflessonsfocusedontheeffectsofATODuseaswellasprescriptionandOTCdruguseandvariousnicotinedeliverydevices.Thetrainerwillfamiliarizeparticipantswiththeresearch,theory,andconceptsbehindtheprogramandprovideanopportunityforfacilitationpractice.
TOO GOOD FOR DRUGS MIDDLE SCHOOL FACILITATOR TRAINING ThistrainingwillpreparefacilitatorstoimplementtheTooGoodforDrugs(TGFD)Programsuccessfully.TheTooGoodforDrugsProgramhasseparate,developmentallyappropriatecurriculumforgradesK-12;thefocusofthistrainingisonSAPP-approvedimplementationforgrades6-8.TGFDisaschool-basedpreventionprogramdesignedtoreducetheriskfactorsandenhancetheprotectivefactorsrelatedtoalcohol,tobacco,andotherdruguseamongstudents.Participantswillgainhands-onexperiencewiththecorecurriculumwhileacquiringessentialpreventioneducationteachingstrategies.Thetrainerwillfamiliarizeparticipantswiththeresearch,theory,andconceptsbehindtheprogramandprovideanopportunityforfacilitationpractice.
