FOREWORD

This Indian Standard ( First Revision ) was adopted by the Bureau of Indian Standards, after the draft finalized by the Pneumatic Tools Sectional Committee had been approved by the Production Engineering Division Council.

This standard was first issued in 1974. In view of the work done at IS0 level, this revision has been aligned with IS0 723 : 1991 ‘Rock drilling equipment - Forged collared shanks and corres- ponding chuck bushings for hollow hexagonal drill steels’, issued by the*International Organization for Standardization ( IS0 ).

In this revision an additional size of 28 mm has been included.

For the purpose of deciding whether a particular requirement of this standard is complied with, the final value, observed or calculated, expressing the result of a test, shall be rounded off in accordance with 1-S 2 : 1960 ‘Rules for rounding off numerical values ( revised )‘. The number of significant places retained in the rounded off value should be the same as that of the specified value in this standard.
