IRELAND U16S VOLLEYBALL TEAM GET OUR GIRLS TO THE FAROES
THE STORY…The Irish U16s Girls’ National Volleyball team will be making history in January 2019.
The team will be the first youth Irish Volleyball team to compete at an International Event.
The team will be taking part in the Northern Europe Qualifying Zone ahead of the full CEV European Championships.
This is a unique opportunity to make history.
This is their story….
COMMITMENT & FRIENDSHIPIn 2014, two voluntary coaches Gianni Massa and Jenny King had a vision.
The vision was to create, from scratch, a youth team that could represent Ireland on the world stage. To put Irish Volleyball on the map.
Starting with a group of shy, timid girls hand-picked from the National Schools Cup the squad was formed.
The aim – to compete in the European Championships.
Since then, the squad of 20 have trained relentlessly, supporting each other through tiring sessions, encouraging when the going got tough and making friendships that will last a lifetime.
But now the time has come, to take the final step and pull on the Irish Jersey. And to live the dream of all Irish sports people.
This team is inspiring…
THE TEAM…The U16s National squad is made up of a nationwide panel of players led by a very determined, focused and voluntary coaching team.
Part of the journey to prepare for the tournament in the Faroe Islands has been localised training in clubs and schools in all corners of Ireland.
Several members of the team are self funding a trip to a specialist training Camp in Sardinia this summer, working with Italian and international coaches to develop technical skills and game dynamics.
The whole group has been working towards this event for several years, showing great character, commitment and loyalty to the game.
These girls represent more than Irish pride, they provide positive role models, defining how to live a healthy and active lifestyle at an age where drop out rates in sport are particularly high.
They’ve overcome challenge after challenge and now they have one more….
THE CHALLENGETo qualify for the main draw of the CEV European U16 Championships will take some doing. The girls will be competing against our Nordic friends from Denmark, Sweden, Iceland, Finland and hosts the Faroe Islands.
It will be tough. It will be the challenge of their lifetime to date. But this team is ready to play with pride, spirit and enjoyment - to represent Ireland and to live the dream.
As well as on the court challenges, there is a €20,000 challenge to be tackled off it – that’s the cost of competing in world class sport.
This team is up for the challenge. We just need a little help.

THE OPPORTUNITIESWe have a range of partnership opportunities available to support our Fundraising campaign. Not only will this help Get the Girls to the Faroes, it will provide a great opportunity for your brand to be associated with an exciting, diverse and action packed sport, that has one of the biggest footprints in school sport across Ireland.
Main Team Sponsor- €5,000
Become the main team sponsor and have your brand on official match jerseys. This money will literally fly us to the Faroe Islands and provide important training equipment.
Team Partner- €500
We are looking for several team partners to support the team. This funding will help feed us and give us a roof over our heads during the tournament.
Player Sponsor- €250
We are looking for a player sponsor for each of our team. This will provide each individual with a training kit and our match day uniforms.

TEAM PARTNER - €500 The Team Partner will help the squad fund training equipment and accommodation whilst in the Faroe Islands. This support could be through a cash donation or also through the supply of training kit.
