We are here to help teacher’s reduce stress and transform student learning by providing resources such as new Google Chromebooks, colored printers, several laminators, and hundreds of AccuCut dies. You can browse the dies we have avialable on our website listed below. Click on the Teacher Production Center Information Here button on the right side. The TPC is a make and take facility that is available to all VBCPS staff members. We will also reduce your out-of-pocket expenditures by providing free resources that include colored paper, cardstock, and construction paper. The IRC staff is also responsible for maintaining and updating the video content on our streaming platform, The Stream. As a reminder, The Stream is available to all VBCPS employees 24/7. You can access at hp://www.irc.vbschools.com or through the VBCPS Intranet. We add new material every day. Please consider taking time to request or recommend new titles. ENGINEERING FOR GOOD (KQED 2017) (MH): The Reality of Plastic: Plastic -- it's super useful but it's also a big problem for the environment. Enough plastic is thrown away every year to circle the earth four times! The Engineering Design Process: A Taco Party: When engineers set out to solve a real world problem, they go through an engineering design process-- in much the same way you would throw an impromptu taco party. Learn all about it in this animated video.

GENIOUS by STEPHEN HAWK-ING (BIGGER BANG 2016) (MH): Professor Stephen Hawking challenges a selection of volunteers to think like the greatest geniuses in history to solve some of hu-manity’s most enduring questions. New segments include: Can We Time Travel?, What Are We?, Where Are We?, Where Did the Universe Come From?, and Why Are We Here?

IN THE GRASS, ON THE REEF (WFSU 2012) (MH): Dr. David Kimbro & Dr. Randall Hughes study coastal ecosystems such as salt marshes and

oyster reefs. These systems provide many services: sheltering commercially important crabs and fish, cleaning the water, preventing erosion, and ulti-mately aiding in keeping marine habitats healthy. Segments include: Biodiversity in the Salt Marsh, Consumptive & Nonconsumptive Predator Effects, Introduction to Intertidal Systems & Their Services, Oyster Reef, and Seagrass Bed.

NATURE WORKS EVERYWHERE (Nature Conservan-cy 2016) (H): See how all types of environments, plants, and animals play crucial roles in maintain-ing our global ecosystem and how we can help build a more sustainable future. New titles include: Coastal Resilience, Fishing for a Future, Nature’s First Defenders, Recording the Rainforest, and Sustainable Cities: Nature-Based Solutions in Urban Design.

PBS NEWSHOUR: Rising Ocean Temperatures Threaten World’s Coral Reefs (2017) (MH): Rising ocean temperatures resulting from climate change are killing coral reefs across the planet. Scientists say over 70 percent of the world’s coral reefs have been exposed to the high temperatures that cause bleaching.

VALLEY’S GOLD (PBS 2016) (P): Education through agriculture -- to foster awareness and understand-ing of agriculture in our everyday lives. New titles include: Apples, Artichokes, Busy Bees, Carrots, Cotton, and Meet Your Beef.

SCIENCE U (WPSU 2017) (PI): Science U is a summer camp at Penn State University exploring every inch of the universe. Titles include: Can Something Be Both a Solid & a Liquid?, Can You Cook a S’more With-out Fire or Electricity?, How Does a Soda Geyser Work?, How Fast Does Your Brain Send Message To Your Body?, Is a Bubble Always Round?, plus others.

SECRET LIFE OF SCIENTISTS & ENGINEERS (NOVA 2016) (MH): Learn about cutting-edge science and engineering, the amazing people who do that work, and the things they do when the lab coats come off. New segments include: Cheri Blau-wet, Cynthia Erenas, Chris Hadfield, Janet Iwasa, Danica McKellar, Dame Stephanie Shirley, and Simon Singh.

SOCIAL STUDIES1913 SEEDS OF CONFLICT (PBS 2014) (H): Looks at the moment of transforma-tion when Ottoman rule in Palestine was still strong, the identities of Jerusalemites were fluid and few could imagine the conflict that would dominate the region for the next century. Segments include: A Larger Vision At Work, An Ottoman Region, Revolution Comes to Palestine, and Sowing Seeds of Conflict.

BIRTH OF A MOVEMENT (Independent Lens 2016) (H): In 1915, Boston-based African Ameri-can newspaper editor & activist William M. Trotter waged a battle against D.W. Griffith’s technically groundbreaking, but notoriously Ku Klux Klan-friendly “The Birth of a Nation”, unleashing a fight that still rages today about race relations, media representation, and the power & influence of Hol-lywood. Segments include: 1895: A Turning Point in Black History, Birth of a Nation: A Complicated Legacy, Birth of a Nation: Film as Propaganda, and Birth of a Nation: Projecting Jim Crow.

FRONTLINE: PRISON STATE (2015) (H): Takes you to the epicenter of the raging debate about prison reform. Seg-ments include: Christel’s Story,

Kentucky’s Prison Overhaul, Release & Re-incarcer-ation, and School to Prison Pipeline.

HOMELAND: (Nine Network 2011) (H): A documentary series that explores one of the most polarizing issues facing America today. Segments include: A Broader Perspective on Immigration, A Decade of the DREAM Act, Assimilating in America, Getting a Visa in a Post 9-11 World, H-1B: Public Perception & Economic Realities, I Hereby Declare an Oath, Refugee 101, Rights of Immigrants, and many oth-ers.

IN THEIR OWN WORDS (PBS 2015) (MH): A unique and stylish new biography series that explores an elite few of the 20th century’s greatest figures. Each chapter is inspired and marked by some of the most memorable words spoken by these world icons.

SOUTHERN CAMPAIGN OF THE AMERICAN REVOLU-TION (SCETV 2017) (IMH): The Southern Campaign was critical in determining the outcome of the American Revolutionary War, yet the South’s importance has been downplayed in most historical accounts to date. Segments include: Camden: Defeat & Destruction, Guilford Court-house: Costly Victory, Waxhaws: Blood in the Back Country, and others.
