IPE Pictionary The purpose of this activity is to get students thinking about their preconceived notions/stereotypes of different disciplines or to realize that they dont know about different disciplines. It also helps them realize how much alike certain disciplines are. 1. Using PowerPoint slides, review the objectives and information on roles and responsibility [Slides 1-13] 2. Divide into interprofessional teams (approximately 6 per team) 3. As a team, decide who the health care professional is based on information provided 4. Draw a representation of the health care professional without using letters or numbers (no Rx, RN, +, or names) 5. Be prepared to share how everyone has contributed to the drawing 6. After each team finishes drawing, the other teams should guess the profession prior to the discussion 7. The team should write the letter (A, B, C, etc.) on the upper left-hand of poster paper corresponding to the description from the roles and scopes document 8. After all teams have drawn a depiction of the profession (approximately 15 minutes) ask them to hang their posters/post-its up on the wall and remain silent about the profession they believe they drew 9. Have the other team members gather around the poster boards 10. The facilitator should read the description (training requirements, usual practice setting and scope of practice) out loud and then ask the non-drawing team members to guess the profession from: a) the description and b) the drawing. The facilitator should take let team membersstate who they think the drawing depicts based on drawing 11. Restate the profession(s) that the non-drawing team members guessed 12. Then ask the drawing team the following questions: a. Which profession does it represent? b. What were the clues that helped you decide? c. What surprised you? d. How did you decide what to draw?

The purpose of this activity is to get students thinking about their preconceived

notions/stereotypes of different disciplines or to realize that they don’t know about

different disciplines. It also helps them realize how much alike certain disciplines

are.

1. Using PowerPoint slides, review the objectives and information on roles and

responsibility [Slides 1-13]

2. Divide into interprofessional teams (approximately 6 per team)

3. As a team, decide who the health care professional is based on information provided

4. Draw a representation of the health care professional without using letters or

numbers (no Rx, RN, +, or names)

5. Be prepared to share how everyone has contributed to the drawing

6. After each team finishes drawing, the other teams should guess the profession prior

to the discussion

7. The team should write the letter (A, B, C, etc.) on the upper left-hand of poster paper

corresponding to the description from the roles and scopes document

8. After all teams have drawn a depiction of the profession (approximately 15

10. The facilitator should read the description (training requirements, usual practice

setting and scope of practice) out loud and then ask the non-drawing team members

to guess the profession from: a) the description and b) the drawing. The facilitator

13. Review training requirements and scopes of practice and have a brief discussion

about the discrepancies (if there is a wrong answer). If that particular health

profession is in the room, ask them to provide feedback about the drawing.

14.Move to next poster board and repeat steps 9 through 12 above

15. Reflection: Once all drawings are reviewed and discussed, move back to

PowerPoint slides [starting with slide #14] and ask the reflection questions

16. Debrief: After all discussion conduct a 10 minute debrief about the exercise. Ask the

following questions:

a. What went well with this exercise?

b. What would you do differently next time?
