Introduction
▶ Digitalization is on every customer’s agenda▶ One of the key objectives of Atos for 2015 is growth - which can only be
obtained by differentiation▶ Every year over 100 innovation workshops are organized with key
customers - but still some clients are finding Atos not innovative enough▶ Journey 2018 is the opportunity to go one step further by properly using
unique content▶ The content of Journey 2018 is not produced in isolation – it is the result of
5 years of work by 1 hundred members of the Scientific Community coming from all service lines and GBU’s, exposed in their day jobs with customers.

Scalability is the ability of a system, network, or process to handle a growing amount of work in a capable manner or its ability to be
enlarged to accommodate that growth.
Focus on Webscale Computing : software-definedDC
Some main trends: Towards lean and low cost data center
infrastructures. The Reactive Manifesto: new
development tooling and frameworksand new programming model.
DevOps: a culture of change automation of release

From traditional IP management to IP Factory
“IT Services” : a complex landscape
• Paradigm shift from a mostly labor based model (sale of bodies/projects/manhours) to a reusable assetmodel.
• Bundled IP assets constitute service platforms operated as a black-box require protection through acombination of all available legal titles or other measures (patents, trade secrets, copyrights, defensivepublication).
• Patents increasingly are used for strategic purposes – in addition to other legal titles e.g. traditionnally tradesecrets - to ensure protection of Atos own IP and to ensure access to needed or useful 3rd party.
• Patent ownership has become more vital to companies active in the IT service business, following globaltrend of increased patenting in all technology domains.
• In the next years, Europe will become a new patent battle field due to the unitary patent takingeffect in 2014.
An Atos Group IP Policy serving as a legal framework and supported by new or improved standard operational processes
– IP governance– IP training– Disclosure process/Group IP database– Invention disclosure management– IP audits (« PULL »harvesting)– Inventor’s incentive and reward scheme (« PUSH » harvesting)– Software registration guidelines– Guidelines on protection of trade secrets and avoidance of IP leakage– Trademarks and branding guidelines– Domain name guidelines– Open Source – IP negotiation guidelines in contracts (+ practical « IP clauses toolbox »)– Open Source Software guidelines– Pre-R&D pursuit process
