    @CYCLONEVB HEADLINES1. Iowa State wrapped up the 2017 season with a 22-7 overall record, and a 12th-straight trip to the NCAA

    Volleyball Championship, advancing to the second round of this seasons tournament.

    2. The Cyclones have won at least one match in 11 of its 13 NCAA Volleyball Championship appearances in program history.

    3. A pair of Cyclones earned AVCA Honorable Mention All-America honors in HALI HILLEGAS and JESS SCHABEN. For Schaben, it was her second-straight season earning honors from the AVCA, while Hillegas was a first-time winner.

    4. Hillegas, who was also an AVCA All-Midwest Region Team, All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 Libero of the Year honoree, led Iowa State and ranked 15th in the NCAA with her 5.60 digs per set. She had at least 10 digs in all 29 of the Cyclones matches, recording 13 matches over 20 digs. This marks the eighth time in the last 10 seasons that a Cyclone has led the Big 12 in digs.

    5. Schaben algo got her second-straight AVCA All-Midwest Region Team and All-Big 12 First Team honors. The Defiance, Iowa native led Iowa State and ranked ninth in the Big 12 with her 3.31 kills per set, while ranking second on ISU with 3.06 digs per set. Her 338 kills and 312 digs marked the first 300-300 season by a Cyclone since Carly Jenson in 2011.

    6. SAMARA WEST joined her Cyclone teammates on the AVCA All-Midwest Region Team and the All-Big 12 First Team. The redshirt senior right side hit was second on the Cyclones with 2.91 kills per set at a team-best .294 hitting percentage. West finished her ISU career with a .302 career hitting percentage, the third player in ISU history to hit over .300 in her tenure.

    7. ALEXIS CONAWAY earned AVCA All-Midwest Region Honorable Mention. The senior moved to outside hitter halfway through the season, finisheing with 238 kills, 179 digs and 103 blocks. She became the first Cyclone to have a triple-triple season since Alison Landwehr in 2011.

    8. All-Big 12 Freshman Team member AVERY RHODES played in just one of ISUs first eight matches. After entering the starting lineup, she was an impact player the rest of the way. She finished the season hitting .293, the second-best clip on the team while ranking second in the Big 12 with 1.28 blocks per set.

    9. GRACE LAZARD led the ISU attack in both NCAA Tournament matches, finishing the tournament with a combined 25 kills at a .435 hitting percentage. Lazard had the best season of her career, averaging 2.41 kills petr set and 1.19 blocks per swet.

    10. After ranking at the bottom of the Big 12 for five-straight seasons in blocking, ISU experienced a blocking renaissance in 2017. Iowa State ranked second in the Big 12 and sixth nationally at 3.00 blocks per set. ISUs 19.5 blocks against WVU on Oct. 18 is tied for the 10th-most in a match in ISU history. The Cyclones had at least 10.0 blocks in a match 17 times in 2017.

    HAIL TO THE CHIEF Iowa State head coach Christy Johnson-Lynch was elected by her peers to become President of the American

    Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).

    The Cyclones leader began her position as President on Jan. 1, 2016 after one year of serving on the AVCA Board of Directors as President Elect.

    Johnson-Lynch will serve as President until Jan. 1, 2018, after which she will remain on the Board of Directors for one more year in the role of Past President.

    AROUND THE BIG 12 Iowa States Hali Hillegas, Jess Schaben and Samara West all made the All-Big 12 First Team in 2017. Hillegas
