What's next,Iowa City?
As part of the early stages of planning, weare currently putting together a steeringcommittee for a series of communityconversations about what we can do tocontinue building a vibrant and diverseeconomy for Iowa City.These nonpartisan conversations are designed to encourage thinking, talking and actionsbased on Iowans’ own ideas for helping their communities—and the state—move forward.
Our goal for this topic is to bring together members of our community in a thoughtfulconversation about what can be done.

Student-led Discussion:Off-Campus Housing
The students of COMM 1830: Solving PublicProblems (SPP), a Theme Semester courseworkcomponent of the IPPL, hosted a public dialogueregarding student off-campus housing concerns.
The purpose of this eventwas to assist students inthinking together abouttheir concerns and
generate fresh ideas andpriorities for action.

This event focused on aspects to be
changed in order to improve the livabilityof Johnson County.
While we aimed for residents from allacross Johnson County to participate inthis discussion, we aim to include alarger, and more diverse group if
citizens for future events.
The Universitywas discussed asone of the largestplayers in thelivability ofJohnson County
There was also astrong desire for amore integrated
public transportationsystem throughoutthe entire county
Citizens called for more affordable housingoptions as well, which has become an issuewith the majority of affordable propertiesbelonging to students at the University
