Perry became Iowa's 14th two-time NCAAchampion when he defeated Michigan's EricTannenbaum, 5-2, in the 165-pound finals. Itwas the fifth time that the two had met, witheach wrestler owning two wins.

In the second period of the championshipmatch, Perry re-injured his right knee, whichhad been operated on in January. He wasable to overcome the pain and end his collegecareer on a winning note.

"I was really excited to get another shot at(Tannenbaum) after the way I competed atthe Big Ten championships," Perry said. "Iwas ready to go, and I felt the best that I'veever felt in a NCAA final. But then my kneepopped in that scramble, and it hurt worsethan it did the last time. I have to credit mycoaches because they got my head straightwhen I was panicking and told me to suck itup."

Iowa's other all-Americans were 125-pound junior Charlie Falck (sixth place), 133-pound sophomore Joey Slaton (second), 174-pound sophomore Jay Borschel (third), 184-pound sophomore Phillip Keddy (sixth) andsenior heavyweight Matt Fields (fifth).

This is the most all-Americans Iowa hashad at the NCAA tournament since 2001.

"They came not to squeak by," Brands said."They came to dominate."
