• Use case – Creation of Forecasting event, order and transportation schedule
based on real time consumption pattern.
• Industry applicability – Industrial Gas, Waste Management, Hazardous Waste
• Business Challenges – Customers must place order for shipment based on historical
consumption or some re-order level
– Challenges in planning for customer shipment without using real time production data
– Challenges in coordinating between multiple systems
– Risk of over-supply or under-supply and missed opportunities.
– Inefficient Route planning
UC-1-Operational Management Improvements

• Use case
– Creation of Preventative Maintenance Work Order in Oracle applications based on condition of equipment at shop floor • Trigger of Breakdown WO based on equipment condition
• Industry applicability – Heavy Industry, Asset intensive industry, logistics, etc.
• Business Challenges
– Manually checking and updating the condition of equipment (Pressure, Temp, Vibration, etc.)
– In efficient use of resource time in collecting & analysing the condition based data from equipment
– In case of any abnormality, operator has to manually create the Work order for the equipment diagnosis
– Risk of equipment out of service and hence production loss
– Challenges in Planning for materials and labour required to complete the Maintenance activities
UC-3-Equipment Condition based PM

• Install and configure the Device and sensors
• Depending on the sensor, either write a
service to capture inputs from the sensors or
use the Gateway where the IoT cloud service
–client version is run
• Define the business rules in IoT cloud service
for exception
• In case of the rules being fulfilled, check if an
open Work Order exists in eBS for the
equipment parameter else trigger the ICS to
call the create Work order application
• Also trigger an email service notifying the
creation of a WO in the system
UC3..Equipment Condition based PM
Execution Summary

• Use case – Creation of Purchase order in Oracle ebs when the stock level is
low at a particular WH location- low value item
• Industry Application – Manufacturing and supply chain industries.
• Business Situation – Material unavailability at the row/rack/bin which creates
challenges in fulfilling the order
– Mismatch between system unit and actual units
– Pickers have to notify Buyers via emails of shortages
– Risk of missing a reorder point which causes delay in material availability due to long lead times.
UC5..Procurement Automation
| © Copyright 2014 Hitachi Consulting 36
• Sensor to check for the re-order point
• Write a program to capture inputs from sensor to Gateway
• Gateway to communicate with IoT cloud service
• If lower, then trigger a service through ICS to check the PO available else create a PO
• Send an email for PO creation to buyer to take action
