● Requirement of IPD no matter what your qualification route
● Presentation slides from parallel session on CPD will be available on the Tees IOSH website
● Access to CPD is through MyIOSH● Webinars and ‘How to Maintain a
Successful CPD Record’ guidance are inside the MyIOSH login

Skills Development Portfolio (SDP)
● Required if you have IOSH accredited degree or diploma- classed by IOSH as route 1 to IPD● Need to complete 7 written portfolios from 5 elements (one criterion from elements 1,2 and 3
and two from elements 4 and 5)● Each portfolio submission consists of:
○ Outline of background and intended outcomes;○ Activity and evidence log- what you have done○ Indexed evidence- can use various formats pdf, Word, PowerPoint etc○ Reflective statement
● The SDP is completed via the MyIOSH login. You can complete each element and then submit them for marking straight away. Criteria are assessed 2-3 weeks after submission
● SDP items are marked by qualified assessors. If further evidence is required the Assessor will let you know. Further evidence or changes can be made and the portfolio resubmitted.
● Evidence can be up to two years old at the point of submission

Part A- Multiple Choice Open Assessment
● 48 random multiple choice questions on the IOSH syllabus ● Questions are marked by computer so you get results straight away● Online assessment accessed through MyIOSH then MyIPD ● There is a dummy paper so you can get used to the style of questions● Pass mark is 55%● You can only take Part A 3 times. If you fail 3 times you will need to discuss your options
with IOSH.
The EOA is a two part examination that runs every month except April, June and December. Required if you hold a NVQ or SVQ IOSH refer to this as route 2 to IPD.
The exam period is 14 days. The longer you take to complete part A the less time you have to complete part B. You have to pass Part A to be able to progress to Part B.

Part B Scenario Based Questions
● Complete two longer scenario based questions- 3 hours to complete part B● Word limit of 700 words per scenario- pass mark if 50%● Read each question carefully- the question will contain clear signposts to what IOSH want● Try to picture the scenario in your mind and give a specific answer● If section B is divided the marks for each section are shown● Plan your answer & show your knowledge● Answers are marked by examiner & result is emailed

Peer Review Interview: Preparation
● Interview fee of £80 @ IOSH HQ or £95 for other venues)
● Prepare a short presentation○ 10 minutes max○ 5-7 slides○ Example presentation sent when you
apply to IOSH ● Record of employment● Read the IOSH Code of Conduct● Make sure your CPD is up to date on the
MyIOSH website● Plan which venue you are going to attend
and any travel plans or accommodation required.
● Peer review interviews can also be done via video conference

Peer Review Interview: on the day
● Arrive early● Be honest● Interview will consist of three interviewers● The interviewers will be friendly- they want you to do well● Refer to ‘I’ and not ‘we’● Remember the interview is about you and not your company or organisation

Interview Questions
● Start with your presentation- 10 minutes● The interview will last for 1 hour in total● Interview panel consists of 1 chair and 2 panel members● Unlikely that panel members will be from the same industry as you● Questions will include:
○ Your career○ Core questions○ What you gained from the open assessment/ SDP process○ Questions on health and safety○ Questions on the IOSH Code of Conduct

Peer Review Results
● Results communicated with 21 days● If successful CMIOSH logos sent by email and certificate in post● If unsuccessful feedback provided from panel
