Message From The Vice Principal

Five weeks have flown by quickly and truly we have much to be grateful for. We congratulate

all our students for showing what it means to be a Xinghua pupil who is resilient and works

well with others. In the month of July, we celebrated the many achievements of our students

who have truly exemplified the spirit of giving their best in whatever they do. Our softball

players fought well and did themselves proud in the Inter-School Championships. Our

dancers, choir members and Guzheng players also demonstrated the epitome of a

professional artist and performer. We are proud of each of them.

The month of August is a significant one as Singapore roars to life on National Day. Our

Singapore story is well known – how we had achieved independence in 1965 and how we

had survived at all with our tiny size and severe lack of natural resources. We have

succeeded against the odds but we won’t take our achievements for granted. We will

continue to unite and grow as One Nation, One People and One Singapore.

Happy 51st Birthday, Singapore!

Warmest Regards

Shirley Quek (Mrs)

inaugural Singapore’s National Reading Day on 30 July, we have organised a myriad of

activities to encourage all our students and staff to Read More, Read Widely, and Read

8. NATIONAL DAY CELEBRATIONS & HOLIDAYS

Please note that the school will be celebrating National Day on 8 August from 7.30am – 10am.

The details have been issued in a separate letter dated 18 July 2016. All students will be

dismissed at 10am.

Do take note that there is no school for all students on the following dates:

10 August 2016 – school holiday.

Students will report back to school on 11 August 2016 Thursday.

9. PSLE ORAL EXAMINATIONS

Our P6 students will be sitting for their PSLE ORAL exams on 18 and 19 August 2016. The

school will be closed on both days. P1 to P5 students do not report to school. Instead, they will

be doing e-learning at home. Teachers will set some exercises for them to revise at home.

10. SCHOOL BUS LEAVES AT 1.40pm

To ensure that the students who take the school buses reach home for lunch on time, our

school buses will leave the school at 1.40pm sharp. Students taking the school buses must wait

in their bus queues at 1.30pm. If they are not taking the bus home, they will need to inform the

bus driver in advance.

11. ROAD SAFETY CONCERNS

Despite our reminders, we have observed that some parents / caregivers are still jaywalking

with the children. This is an extremely dangerous act and may result in serious injuries or

fatalities. As good role models, you play an important part to ensure that our children take a

greater ownership and responsibility for their own safety. Please use the designated crossings.

12. Feedback From Parents

As partners in education, we value your feedback and suggestions to make the school a more

conducive learning environment for our children. Please feel free to pen down some thoughts,

compliments or comments for the school.
