Event Information

Royal Geelong Yacht Club invites owners and skippers to enter their boats for the 2020 Yanmar Wooden Boat Shop Wooden Boat Festival of Geelong.

The 2020 event already has some major additions planned. Our Tall Ships program will be bigger than ever, and we are excited to announce that the HMB Endeavour will be visiting Geelong whilst on its way to Tasmania. We are also in discussion with the Young Endeavour, the Enterprize and the One and All from Adelaide to attend the festival. These ships will be taking visitors on regular trips around the Bay, as well as hosting our school sailing program and other social events. The attendance of such prestigious tall ships in Geelong Harbour will be a fantastic opportunity to showcase the brand-new Wave Attenuator.

The HMB Endeavour is managed by the Australian National Maritime Museum, who will attend the festival with their new travelling Road Show. This will be a wonderful opportunity for the people of Geelong to experience our Maritime History for the first time outside of Sydney.

With an enhanced program at Portarlington on the Friday night to encourage even more boats to “Pull into Port”, on their way to Geelong, visitors will experience live entertainment, a food and wine fair on the foreshore, and a great spot for a social stopover in the Safe Harbour. Saturday morning will provide plenty of breakfast options prior to the start of the Passage Race to Geelong. This will provide quite a spectacle for those that are just cruising to the event.

On arrival in Geelong the Wooden Boat Festival will provide a vast array of displays, commercial exhibits and a plethora of guest speakers in the theatre, as well as the tall ships on display, more great live entertainment, and plenty of food and drink options.
