Dear Ladies and Gentlemen, you are kindly invited to participate at the 16th IRDO INTERNATIONAL SCIENCE AND BUSINESS CONFERENCE 2021: SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY AND CURRENT CHALLENGES 2021: Pitfalls and opportunities of digitalisation for sustainable future, to be held on 10 and 11 June 2021 in Maribor onsite & online. The conference will take place in a hybrid (online & onsite) form. We invite you kindly to participate with your own author’s contribution (paper) and / or as listener. The main purpose of the conference is to explore the impact of digitalisation on the formation of relations and interactions between people, organizations, nature and society that enable the development of a common sustainable future. A precondition for sustainable coexistence is socially responsible behaviour of each stakeholder in the community. Without broad environmental and social responsibility, there is no survival of humanity. Social responsibility is as a tool to achieve sustainable development / future. The conference emphasis is on the digitalisation in social systems, as it significantly changes society and thus our active participation anywhere becomes a driver of change at the global level. EU has adopted a number of guidelines for the development of digitalization, they are focused in socially responsible development and integration of digitalisation in the society. Some of them are available here:

https://www.europarl.europa.eu/factsheets/en/sheet/64/digital-agenda-for-europe

https://ec.europa.eu/jrc/en/research-topic/digital-living https://ec.europa.eu/growth/industry/corporate-social-responsibility_en

The conference is in line with the UN Agenda 2030: Changing the World, which includes 17 sustainable development goals that should lead to a sustainable future. The Republic of Slovenia has adopted these goals in its Development Strategy until 2030. Those goals we can achieve mostly with active personal and organisational social responsibility. With the conference in 2021, we want to explore in terms of digitalisation what young people, researchers, teachers, experts, managers and everyone else can do together and what we should do to include personal, business and social responsibility in the social and natural environment where we operate. Therefore, we shall contribute to a sustainable future as a way out of the current crisis, particularly in terms of challenges and opportunities opened up by digitalisation:

• Discuss methods for developing personal responsibility concepts to keep pace with current developments in digitalisation.

• Focus on how to respond to digitalisation with the necessary integrated development in the social, ecological and business environment, with special emphasis on reflective behaviour, interdependence and creative collaboration in order to maximise integrity levels.

• Highlight examples of digitalisation impact on the social (non)responsible behaviour in business, government and non-governmental organizations or active citizenship, and to assess how to rethink the standard processes from multiple perspectives and how to integrate into them socially responsible behaviour.

• Explore the possibilities of how to influence the sustainable development and integration of digitalisation into responsible personal, business and social behaviour.

By exchanging experiences, both theoretical and practical, especially from the point of view of digitalisation, the participants will help finding the right path to socially responsible behaviour. Social responsibility and a sustainable future are sources of great benefits, as has been shown in all crises so far, including the covid-19 crisis. Therefore, we kindly invite you to participate at the conference as authors and / or listeners, to share your experiences, views and suggestions with other participants, including researchers, top consultants, other experts and experienced practitioners who will attend this conference. Young authors, high school and university students involved in educational processes are very welcome. We kindly invite you to present your original papers and report about your own work in various topics of our conference! So far, over a thousand authors from all over the world have participated in the previous 15 IRDO conferences. The number of speakers is limited. Please send us your application form as soon as possible to the e-mail address: [email protected]. We are looking forward to your participation in the 16th IRDO International Conference ONSITE & ONLINE! With kind regards, Igor Perko, Assoc. Prof., PhD., University of Maribor, Faculty of Economics and Business, WOSC director- general, and Vice-Chairman of the IRDO Conference Programme Committee,

KEY TERMS Digitalisation is the process of integrating digital tools and services into activities, communication, and understanding of the environment. It radically changes the ways of cooperation, research, interaction, control and management of human personal, working, economic, natural and social life; at the same time, it supports and threatens human rights and other characteristics of social responsibility. Social responsibility is the responsibility of the organization and the individual to ethically influence society and the environment, i.e. people and nature according to ISO 26000 (ISO, 2010; EU, 2011), directly and indirectly, in the short and long term, "here and now" and with a broader impact. Its three basic concepts are responsibility, interdependence and integrity, which replace indifferent, self-sufficient and one-sided behaviour in order to enable the survival of humanity and people. Society covers all people; the state is one of their bodies for managing common needs. Economy encompasses all organizations for the production, distribution and exchange of everything that people need, desire and therefore spend; part of this people use unnecessarily because habits have become habits only, without thinking on broaden impact. Personal responsibility represents the responsibility of an individual to act socially responsible towards himself, i.e. practices the principles of ISO 26000: jurisdiction, transparency, ethics, respect for the interests of stakeholders, the rule of law, international norms and human rights. Sustainable future enables the survival of humanity without spending excessively. Now, unfortunately, when nature destroys nature, we are talking about catastrophe, but when man destroys nature, we are talking about development and progress. Sustainable development represents human development that meets the long-term needs of humanity while enabling natural systems to create the natural resources and ecosystem services on which society and the economy depend (development that meets current needs and does not limit the ability of future generations to meet their needs). It is an essential part of social responsibility efforts that material development is not a destructive end in itself. Science and research elucidate the basic motives on which human survival is based, and the related motives of practitioners, researchers, and scientists. They are closely linked to social responsibility (SR) and sustainable development in order to make the future sustainable. SR reduces costs and abuses, even in science, which eliminates them, but also causes, if there is no SR. Environment encompasses everything that exists around humans as natural and social conditions for the existence of humanity. Today, we draw at least twice as many natural resources a year as we should, and more each year, putting our sustainable future at great risk.

CONFERENCE PURPOSE

In the current world, we find many social contradictions and negative traits; authors (e.g., Schwab, 2016; Piketty, 2013) are pointing out that better adapted and faster responses to the consequences of the rapid development of science and technology are essential. Due to the speed of development, we are facing challenges that are crucial for a sustainable future and our existence. Measures should be systemic, necessary and sufficiently comprehensive, i.e. interdisciplinary, in order to prevent the negative consequences of uncontrolled, incomplete development, support the "4th industrial revolution" and to improve the current socio-economic systems towards comprehensive social responsibility. Therefore, following theme of the 2021 IRDO conference "Pitfalls and Digitalisation Opportunities for a Sustainable Future" should help us find a path to responsible development / future of the world in the 21st century, aligned with the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals under Agenda 2030: Changing the World. Digitalisation is set as a central theme of the IRDO 2021 conference because of the exceptionally strong impact of it on the nature & society, at the personal, social, educational, economic and regulatory level.
