OUR EXPERTISE

Dominion Virginia Power Environmental On-Calls, Virginia and North CarolinaClient: Dominion Virginia Power (DVP)Description: Stantec is currently providing DVP programmatic environmental support services through multiple Master Services Agreements. Over the past 20 years, Stantec has executed hundreds of projects across thousands of miles for DVP. Tasks include desktop environmental reviews, analysis of routing alternatives, wetland delineations and confirmations, cultural resource investigations, endangered species surveys and coordination, Section 404/401 permitting, tidal wetlands permitting, regulatory support and strategy, agency coordination, mitigation planning for wetland impacts, construction access identification and permitting, traffic control planning, erosion and sediment control plan preparation, stormwater planning and permitting, graphical product support, environmental compliance inspections, right-of-way rehabilitation, and vegetation management.

Dare Elementary Water Resources, VirginiaClient: County of YorkDescription: The Dare Elementary School Watershed is drained by an unnamed tributary in York County, Virginia. The area is low lying and highly urbanized with limited stormwater management controls, resulting in significant stream channel degradation and overall water quality impairment. Stantec worked closely with the County and identified several potential retrofits that include a combination of stream restoration activities, as well as numerous stormwater best management practices (BMPs) through a detailed planning process.

Innisfree Village Mitigation Bank, VirginiaClient: Innisfree Stream Mitigation BankDescription: All of Stantec’s core values were illustrated when we stepped in to help a local non-profit founder and Board of Directors find a creative use for their land that satisfied their charitable goal. When the owner of Innisfree Village Farm wanted to create a source of income to allow adults with intellectual disabilities to live in a productive, empowering, interdependent, and therapeutic environment, he turned to Stantec. Stantec staff helped to create a unique financial mechanism (mitigation bank) to fund an endowment and create scholarships to those in financial need. After reviewing the feasibility of various locations on the property, Stantec staff entitled a mitigation bank that provides future income to sustain this fully licensed, residential, lifesharing community model.

APM Marine Terminal Regulatory Strategy, Virginia Client: APM Terminals North America Description: This project involved the creation of a private, state-of-the-art marine terminal on a 570-acre parcel located along the Elizabeth River in Hampton Roads, Virginia. The project involved overall environmental assessment, permitting support, wetland delineation, and mitigation feasibility and design for impacts to 189 acres of submerged bottomland and over 23 acres of jurisdictional wetlands including the dredging of 10.3 million cubic yards of material to support Suezmax vessels. While perhaps the largest single private permit action in Virginia history, the project was permitted within 12 months without the need for a formal Environmental Impact Statement. Pr
