8th Annual Introductory Course on Primary Immunodeficiency Diseases
Venue: Courtyard by Marriott, Ramdev Nagar Cross Roads, Satellite Road Ahmedabad
Date: 29th September 2019
Dear Colleagues, On behalf of Rheumatology and Immunology Department, NHL Medical College, Ahmedabad, we take pleasure in inviting you to a unique CME that focuses on Primary Immunodeficiencies. Primary Immunodeficiency diseases (PID) are not rare disorders. They are 4 times more common than haemophilia and as common as multiple sclerosis. Furthermore, PID are as common in adults as in children. Awareness regarding these needs to be increased amongst physicians and paediatricians. PID patients present with diverse clinical features ranging from recurrent sinopulmonary infections, diarrhoea, opportunistic viral and fungal infections at one end to allergic, inflammatory, autoimmune and neoplastic diseases on the other end of the spectrum. The field has immense potential as collectively they are not rare, can present at any age and to different specialists. On 6th October 2019, we invite clinicians from different walks of medicine like Paediatricians, Physicians, Pulmonologists, Otorhino-laryngologist, Rheumatologists, Hemato-oncologists, Gastroenterologists, Infectious disease specialists, Dermatologists under one roof to help learn from each other about these disorders in greater detail. We plan to start the day with an approach to these diseases for general physicians, paediatricians and laboratory colleagues, then proceed to prototype cases for each speciality followed by discussion on genetic diagnoses and management issues thus ensuring there is something for each one of us. Gujarat lacks expertise in this area and this introductory course guided by some of the best specialists of the world would only be appropriate to start a division of this subspecialty within the department of medicine/rheumatology/paediatrics. The Rheumatology Association of Gujarat has decided to support the event. Looking forward to meeting you at the CME. Puja Srivastava, Organising Secretary
