Introduction To Automated Electrical Testing• VMC provides Testing solutions for OE, remanufacturer and vehicle After Market. VMC

systems are available in a wide variety of form factors – customized to the specific needs of our clients.

• One application where our superior VMC-RelayMatrix™ technology shines is automated electrical testing for rail cars. Our systems test car components as well as fully built cars – utilizing both low and high voltage AC and DC circuits.

Introduction To Automated Electrical Testing

The main (not limited to) tests and features performed by our electrical test systems are:• Continuity with Ground,• Continuity between various points

of the cab connectors.• Measurements of Voltage, current

drawn, resistance, frequency, PWM signals…

• Simulation (Frequency and PWM signals generation, automated control of relays …),

• Communication with controllers inside the car over many different protocols (CAN, J1939, ISOBUS…)

Our Hardware being modular, it is up to the Software to achieve the specific tests for the car to be validated. Therefore, with the same test stand, same hardware, different cars can be tested by only changing the interface harnesses (between the test stand and the car).

Benefits of Automated Electrical Testing• The tests that our systems perform are completed by one technician in 4 hours as

compared to manual tests that take two engineers 40 hours• Automated tests are much more thorough than manual tests• Automated tests provide a digital record of test and conformance• Automated testing gathers test statistics and quality metrics• Automated testing reduces the effect of human error on quality

VMC Hardware• VMC uses a combination of off the shelf

and custom made hardware.• VMC had developed ultra-durable,

flexible relay matrix hardware for electrical testing applications.

• Composed of top quality components that are protected by self resetting fuses, surge suppressors and careful design our systems can handle any faulty wiring in the unit under test.

• VMC Hardware is reliable, low-maintenance, re-useable, modular and expandable.

VMC Software• Some systems are designed to test over

a thousand connections – each of the modules pictured support 218 discreet electrical connections.

• Too complex to program step by step deploying these systems involves developing software tools to implement the test.

• We specialize in custom software that minimizes the work involved in programing and running the test.

• For units with less wires our software VMC-TestDesignerTM allows any user to program the test sequence and modify it without any specific programming language knowledge.

VMC Software• VMC-TestDesigner™

allows our engineers and our customers to write and edit test scripts. Some of our customers produce their own test scripts using TestDesigner completely independent of VMC. We serve them by offering training sessions and technical support on a contract basis.

VMC Software• VMC-TestManager™ runs test scripts on tester PC’s – it can be run on any standard PC• The test verifies connections automatically advancing through the test – or waits for

inputs from the operator and provides instructions and pictures to guide them.

VMC Software• VMC-DashBoard™ collects all test and production data and provides flexible and

detailed reporting and statistical analysis to show you exactly what is happening in your test zones. DashBoard provides analysis of first time pass rates, test times, operator interruptions, and Pareto charts of failure modes.

VMC Software• VMC-DashBoard™ can generate automated custom reports that can be shared with anyone

via email. We customize our software to deliver exactly what our customers need!
