Introduction

The unsafe installation of ceiling fan is of public concern as there have been many mishaps relating to improper installation of ceiling fan reported in the country. This is important for consumer to ensure that ceiling fans are installed by competent installers. This SIRIM Industry Standard (SIRIM 3:2014) is developed to provide guidance to installers on safe and proper installation of ceiling fan. The good practices covered in the standards include requirements prior to and during installation, and verification as well as proper maintenance of the installed ceiling fan.

Objectives To launch and create awareness among

manufacturers, users, higher learning institutions, and regulators on the newly published SIRIM Standards

To disseminate information on SIRIM

Standards what SIRIM 3:2014, Code of practice for installation and maintenance of ceiling fan have to offer.

To promote and encourage active partici-

pation from private and public sectors in the usage of the standard.
