What is the RV subcategory?

• a part of the SEEDS project– using the direct imaging method with HiCIAO

instrument on board the Subaru telescope– Detail in poster by Kusakabe

• One of the subcategories of the NS category– Nearby Stars– stars harboring one/some planet(s) detected with the

RV method– especially, we are targeting stars with the following

characteristics.

Our strategy• 1) Stars which have long-term trend in radial velocity

– considered to be caused such RV trends by unknown planets• 2) Stars which harbor inner planets having considerably high orbital

eccentricity or obliquity with the spin of its host star– Planet-planet scattering (e.g., Nagasawa+ 2008)– Kozai oscillation + Tidal friction (e.g., Fabrycky & Tremaine 2007)

• We can possibly detect unknown outer planets by the direct imaging method!– Even if we can’t detect the outer bodies in our targets, we can impose

conditions and limits on the theoretical models.
