What is OS? OS=Operating System

Types of Interface

1. Graphical User Interface (GUI)

A type of user interface that allows users to interact with

electronic devices using images rather than text commands

2. Command Lines Interface (CLI)

A means of interaction with a computer program where the user issues commands to the program in the form of successive lines of text (command lines)

GUI CLI

Advantages • More user friendly • Suitable for beginners• More interactive• Ability to embed media

• Can occasionally present certain actions that are completely unavailable in a GUI

• Easy to integrate with scripting and other programmatic interfaces

Disadvantages • Need significantly more memory (RAM) to run

• Take up a much larger amount of hard disk space

• Use more processing power • Can be slow for experienced

programmers to use

• Steeper learning curve• Unsuitable for beginners• Not efficient for

multitasking• Frequent input errors
