Luxploration: noun

The act of venturing out to discover new experiences while staying

in a luxurious hotel.

Welcome to Warner Leisure Hotels’

newest member of the family.

Opening March 2019.

A beautiful hotel curating more than 180 years of history,

but utterly modern in outlook. It’s the perfect setting for a

short break exploring and relaxing in rural Warwickshire.

There’s a lot to do... and lots of ways to do nothing.

This hotel truly is one of a kind, so why not get its own vocabulary?

Over 180 years old... and bang up to date

Set in rural Warwickshire, Studley Castle is a Grade II* listed building. The brainchild of Francis

Lyttleton Holyoake, high sheriff of Warwickshire, it dates from 1834. He had a £120,000 budget (an

eye-watering £14.5m today) and enlisted Samuel Beazley, a world-renowned architect who specialised

in theatre design, to lavish the place with Gothic Revival architecture and features.

Our ambitious £50 million renovation has restored the castle to its former splendour. Over the past three

years, we’ve given the colour back to the Castle rooms and lounges, converted the former riding stables

into a luxurious spa, and added a bistro with a view, and a large, live music restaurant.

From the ornate ceilings to the wall panelling and gargoyles, the sense of spectacle and drama is

still everywhere, but now with a touch of contemporary elegance.

Time for discovery...

Studley Castle is out of the way enough to feel really relaxed, but with medieval

Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick Castle on the doorstep. Close by, Tudor market

towns and timber-framed pubs roll across Shakespeare’s county and onto the

neighbouring Cotswolds, an area of outstanding tea rooms.

...and hours of good times

There are all sorts of things to do, from afternoons of wine tasting

and exclusive brewery visits to a dip in the pool. Back in the day, this quiet

corner would have been playground for Francis Lyttleton Holyoake as his estate

grew around him. The grounds are still as perfect for shooting and archery.

And still a starting point for walks along the Arden Way, threading through

woodland and water meadows in the ancient Forest of Arden.

Following your nose...

Two restaurants. A pairing of classic and contemporary. Theatre cooking takes the heat out of the

kitchen and puts it centre stage in the Evesham Restaurant where the menu is international, but

with a strong British accent lent by hand-carved meats and seasonal produce. Dining in the Arden

Lounge & Terrace elevates classic gastro pub favourites in an industrial chic setting.

...and resting your head

Rooms at Studley Castle are the perfect escape-from-it-all retreat.

Whether it’s the original features of the individual Castle Rooms,

the contemporary style of the Studley wing, or the calm of the Stables

and Lodge, all the rooms are designed for relaxing in comfort.

Crisp linens and plump pillows ensure a tranquil night’s sleep.

Delicious feasts

Evesham Restaurant

The heart of the hotel with floor-to-ceiling windows for light breakfasts

and low-slung chandeliers for more intimate dinners. It’s a whirlwind

of theatricality as skilful chefs hand carve joints from the butcher’s

block and showcase their live cooking skills at the fish bar and wok

counter. There are daily specials and salads created from local produce,

plus beautiful desserts and cheeseboards on granite worktops.

Arden Lounge & Terrace

The second restaurant strips it back – right down to the exposed

brick walls and wooden floors. The menu is British classics with

a twist, all served to the table. It’s rustic and relaxed, with wide

views of the countryside and a terrace for al fresco dining. The

leather banquettes and deep sofas are the perfect destination for

a bite or a drink with friends.

Lounges

There’s no live music but plenty of atmosphere in the three

lounges in the castle. They’re relaxed places where old habits

die hard. The lofty ceilings and century-old walls are still the

place for quiet chat. There are cakes and hand-picked teas by

day, and craft cocktails in the evening.

Garden Room

The flamingo and parakeet-themed decor puts the Garden

Room on the boho-ometer, but it’s the Harlequin Amazilia

velvets and relaxed ambience that make it tempting. With

wonderful views, too.

Oak Room

Wood panelling and leather sofas are a masterclass in 19th

century good taste, and marry well with afternoon tea, that

most British of rituals. As the day lengthens and the chandeliers

cast a cosy glow, master mixologists prepare the orders.

Hideaway

The most secret of the castle’s lounges, this is a hush-hush

kind of place for vintage board games and drawn-out drinks

on chaise lounges. Original timber floors keep it true to its

Victorian roots.

Where comfort meets luxury

Castle rooms

Studley Castle’s architect, famed for his theatrical porticos, took

medieval Gothic architecture as his inspiration. The rooms in

the castle reference this genius and flamboyance with period

details for history lovers, and feature bathrooms for romantics.

All individual, some have roomy lounges, others countryside

views, and a couple have roll top baths tucked into their turrets.

Lodge rooms

The most private rooms are tucked away in the Lodge,

converted from one of the original buildings. It’s a detached

bolthole, just beyond The Stables Spa, and perfect for friends

and family holidaying together. The rooms take their inspiration

from their surroundings, with fresh colours and natural

materials. There’s dedicated parking next door.

Studley rooms

Rooms in the brand-new Studley wing are classically elegant,

and thoughtfully designed with king-size beds and contemporary

bathrooms. They’re at the heart of the hotel, close to the restaurants

and bars, so front and centre for everything. The rooms with

balconies and many of those with private patios maximise the views

of the Arden Way and across fields and grazing sheep. An oasis of

calm after the day’s adventures.

Stables rooms

Located in what were once the riding stables, added to the

estate at the end of the 19th century, these rooms pay homage

to their beginnings with wood cladding and oiled oak floors,

now partnered with contemporary accents. They sit within

The Stables Spa, so perfectly placed for early morning dips

and wellbeing treats, or simply a day of relaxation.

The day to unwind...

It’s about getting away from it all in the spa and the draw of a specialist face and

body treatment. And, just like the Victorian gentlefolk of bygone times, getting

together in the castle’s elegant lounges for afternoon tea, the exchange of stories,

and after-dinner drinks.

...and evenings of fun

One of the castle’s former owners, Daisy Greville, Countess of Warwick,

was a celebrated hostess and socialite in her youth, renowned for her love

of a great party and gathering. No doubt, she’d be happy to see today’s hotel

pick up the mantle with nights that can be loud or laidback. While the

restaurants welcome visiting bands, theatrical acts and acoustic

performers, the lounges, by contrast, move to a slower rhythm.

Mind, body and soul

After dusk, something for every mood

The Stables Spa

Studley Castle’s sanctuary. A place to escape the distractions of

every day and relax and re-energise. There’s a sauna and steam

room, and loungers for curling up with a good book. The pool is

open from early until late, and there are plenty of spots to enjoy

healthy drinks and snacks.

Treatments

Specialist facials and body boosts focus on relaxation and

rejuvenation. Expert therapists will advise on carefully-crafted

treatments, anything from a whole day of top-to-toe pampering

to a beautifying pick-me-up, using luxurious skincare products

inspired by the lifestyle and the plants and fruits of the

Mediterranean region.

Evesham Restaurant and Bar

The main restaurant is the heart of the hotel. As dinner ends, the

spotlight turns to the stage and dance floor. Stripped-back acoustic

sets and contemporary circus performers make regular appearances,

and the party continues with headlining acts and visiting bands and

shows commanding the crowd. The Evesham Bar, another lively spot,

is often without curfew, and a magnet for musicians and stand-ups.

Picture Lounge

Studley Castle does the flicks in style. The intimate in-house

cinema seats 30 film-lovers in comfy armchairs as it showcases

big-screen features, day and night. There’s anything from a

black-and-white tearjerker to an action-packed blockbuster.

Drinks and some nibbles from the bar are very welcome, too.
