87Th Illinois State FFA COnvention

Four Score and Seven Years Ago the first annual Illinois state FFA Convention was held. These are also the words of Abraham Lincoln who worked a block from where the convention is currently held, in downtown Springfield, IL. Though much has changed since the convention’s early years, the meaning of this convention is the same in the heart of every FFA member. This year seven FFA members were selected to represent Fisher at this convention. The members that attended were (as pictured above from left to right) Kindall Carter, Megan Nigg, Sammy Head, Max Harmon, Megan McCoy, Sophia Hortin, and Bailey Parks.

During the week the members enjoyed a variety of activities at convention. They elected new State Officers, walked through the Career fair, and visited workshops. Megan McCoy and Sammy Head had the privilege of serving on behalf of Fisher when voting on constitutional amendments, voting for state officers, and more. Sophia Hortin served in the Farm Bureau Newsroom during 5th and 6th Sessions. Megan Nigg learned about steps to being successful at a workshop put on by keynote speaker Kelly ___.

It is safe to say that this convention was a success. Members enjoyed themselves while learning how to better their chapters and communities all while becoming closer friends that can work together.

A Year in Review

The Fisher FFA chapter has partnered with the Fisher United Methodist Church to have a Community Garden behind the church. This is the second year for the Community Garden but the first year that the FFA will be involved. They planted plants such as tomatoes, jalapeños, lettuce, strawberries, green beans, bell peppers and more. The FFA will be working
