Aim: reducing nutrient losses from agriculture by introducing and

testing environmentally-friendly management of organic fertilizers

Project main result is reduced nutrient inflows from 20 pilot farms from

Estonia and Latvia to the Baltic Sea. Sustainability is ensured through

dissemination of new knowledge to approximately 300 farmers

state aid abolishment for higher involvement of target groups and projects (e.g. private

partners) and pilot testing / implementation activities,

commercialisation = more useful and widespread results

embedded elements of cross-programme cooperation

(mainstream ERDF, other funds)

links to policy frameworks (focus for projects vs. flexibility)

for better durability of outcomes

even more simplification (?) to attract relevant public & private actors

balance between research & implementation focus

- setting project selection & assessment standards from

the Programme outset

- support to beneficiaries (steering development)

dissemination / capitalisation / impacts

- to be taken over & managed by Programmes

- striving for changes in national legislation

- ensuring the uptake of solutions at policy level

Capitalisation of projects’ outcomes

A project platform:

• Brings together EU funded projects from different programmes;

• Allows working further on good practices identified by the projects;

• Increases impact and outreach of projects to their main target groups;

• Provides additional budget up to EUR 1 million. ©PantherMedia/lightsource

The State of the Baltic Sea is addressed through several platform proposals. Decision on funding by Interreg Baltic Sea Region: June 2018
