In early March, dozens of Honduran children will have warm hats for when their temperatures drop to a frigid 55 degrees! (Yes, that’s very cold for them and they would value a warm hat!). Inside this edition of the Interpreter, you will find a list of other supplies we are collecting to take to Honduras. These are things not readily available to them. First Thoughts

A few months ago, my mom and her friends began knitting hats. I happened to mention to her an upcoming trip to Honduras to support Mission on the Move, and her small group had a purpose for knitting dozens (as seen in the picture).

In this new season in the life of our church, during which we are almost fully staffed (hallelujah!), we must renew our focus upon sharing the gospel and serving others. Regularly, there are ways you can serve on mission with us. On Sunday mornings, we need more greeters. How we welcome those who are our guests is an important first step in helping them build a relationship with Christ. In our hospitality, we model a loving relationship with Christ.

And we welcome more to join alongside us as we serve our community. Each week, the Bridge Ministry needs volunteers to prepare food on Wednesday nights, and serve at the Bridge on Saturdays. And our Benevolence Ministry, which serves more than a dozen clients each week—providing financial assistance in times of crisis—would benefit from more contributions through the Green Envelope. And be sure to donate food items for our pantry whenever we have Sunday lunch.

And this coming Sunday, we will take a collection as you depart at the end of each worship service. Youth will be collecting for the “Souper Bowl of Caring.” All funds contributed will go directly to Golden Harvest, our local food bank.

So in this new and exciting day in our congregation, join with us as we focus our efforts on sharing the gospel—both here inside our own walls, and well beyond. The question should not be, “Will I serve?” Instead, we all should be asking, “How will I serve?” In the Hope of the Gospel, Jim

Church Wide News & Opportunities

MISSION OPPORTUNITIES

Family Promise (FP) Feb. 11-18, 2018FP is a program for families that need a place to live while working or going to school so that they can eventually have their own place to live. While they are in the program, they move weekly from church to church that participates in the FP program. FBC is part of that program. We will be hosting 3 families with children February 11-18, 2018. We need volunteers for meal hosting, night hosting, weekend hosting, and to setup Feb. 11 and take down Feb. 18 at 1:30pm each day. We are located in the Walton Bldg, room 102. Contact Pam Thomas, coordinator, 706.294.5040 AFTER 7PM, or Anita Aguirre, 706.399.0507 for more information or to sign up.
